It kind of fits with how they thought the ending was acceptable. Lots of things seem to surprise them lately.
It still blows my mind how they could put out such absolutely AWESOME sequences like the final Tachunka mission, with Morden's insanely awesome sacrifice and all the rest - not to mention the story in ME1 - probably the best in all of gaming, and the wonderful ending in ME2, and then so completely and utterly botch the capstone ending of the series.
It really is virtually impossible to fathom...

I honestly feel bad, for hyping up mass effect 3 selling ME1&2 to customers then getting the very same customers to preorder the 3rd game, had I known...I would have left them unaware and blissful of the franchise altogether
I know that feel bro.
I made 2 friends play ME1 & 2 last year hyping it up as the most awesome thing ever and they both hated ME3's ending and have done nothing but whinge at me about it ever since.

I love speculation tho! What I don't like is speculation used as fact so that folks can deride Bioware, it's employees and other fans.
There are narratives that build in speculation and interpretation as a cornerstone of the story - the first Matrix and the trilogy as a whole might be the best example of this. 2001 Space Oddessy is another. Neither of these waited until the last second to spring a completely different narrative on the viewer and then say, "Interpret this, B****es!"
That's in essense what Bioware did. OF COURSE it doesn't work.

This is what playing the artist gets you Bioware. When you loose touch with what people want via artist integrity you get pissed off customers.pika9519 wrote...
Here's the transcript from the Kotaku liveblog:
KCox: "Why was that content not in the game at launch?" The dev team stands by what we releasei nt he core product, wer'e very proud of it (mild applause from audience) "It was important though, for us to listen to the community, and community feedback ovbviously didn't come until the game came out" "couldn't have included in game because we didn't know there was huge demand for it

Yes, that's why they touted those exact things in the pre-launch build-up... because they didn't know people wanted it.
TRUTH.
Honestly I am curious about what Bioware has planned for summer, I don't know how it'll possibly fix anything...but it's a start. I think there is still a long road ahead of us.
Still holdin' the line.

If I'm not mistaken at no point have Bioware said or even implied that there will be a any new narrative, just clarification and closure of details that were previously left out.

They messed up in only by not letting us have a diolog with the kid. Inthink if they had let us tell the star child about the geth and he said that maybe the galaxy was reday for Synth... Or been able the find out how they got to the idea of reapers it would have gone over better. Or what would happen the systems with relays when they exploded.
With just a bit more info this would have gone down much differently. Because if we knew the peeps where okay we could have made up our own minds about what happened after words

I'll give them this clarifying DLC, but I'm just getting to the point that I can't trust anything they say. They can't be this oblivious, they just can't be.

I agree, I find it hard to believe that those who did the Tuchunka or Rannoch sequences had anything to do with the end.....just mystifying.

The same thing went through my head when I read that line. I was... Dumbfounded to say the least.
I lost my fricking mind when I saw that line. I wished I was there so I could ask them how they could not know.
I mean after all the hype and the interviews it should have been plainly obvious that not putting in what you said would be there would make people just a little angry.
I was sitting in front of my notebook looking at the live blog having a frickin coniption fit. I was told it was quite amusing to see.

It's more that the left hand is apparently floating in orbit around Saturn, while the right hand's set the controls straight for the heart of the Sun and is rocketing there as fast as thrusters will allow.

Some of those threads go for hundreds of pages and take very creepy turns.
And no one at Bioware thought there'd be a demand for... conclusions for the characters and romances???
