As much as I hate EA, I find it hard to picture any suit looking at that travesty of an ending and saying "yeah, this ending works for a franchise we plan to milk for all it's worth". And the deadline thing is as much BioWare's fault as it is EA's. Game design is not a linear process; the ending SHOULD have been one of the first things decided upon and designed at the beginning of development. That way, other parts not as integral to the story could have gotten the short end of the stick when they were running out of time. The fact that Hudson and Walters didn't even know what the ending should be in NOVEMBER really shows how stupid they were being with the process, and that's entirely on their heads. And finally, a rushed ending would have likely offered something more simplistic than this forced attempt at surrealism and some nihilistic philosophies they think are super deep.

Corporate executives don't say "oh this ending sucks and maybe our release date expectations were too high, so let's give you some time to fix it." They usually go "this is crap and I don't care about you, but I want this fixed by the release date even though it is completely unreasonable." Most of the executives that I work for has this mentality unless it is themselves meeting deadlines, then its excuses galore.

Bioware developers are not idiots. That is PR talk from the developers. I think everyone that hates the ending can universally agree that the Krogan Genophage missions and the Rannoch missions were very well done, and then the quality of the game began to drop once we hit Thessia, Sanctuary and the Cerberus Base. The amount of time given to the development for Mass Effect 3 was extremely short by game developing standards especially for the ending game of a trilogy. The developers were rushed to finish the product by EA who originally wanted the game to come out before Christmas 2011 for the holiday shopping rush. The creative team basically told EA that it could not be done and EA begrudgingly gave them an extension to March 2012. I wish EA would just let the Mass Effect team continue to polish the game till November of 2012 for the 2012 Christmas season and I would bet that this ending would have been changed or vastly improved. A mission could be the races finding a schematic to build mass relays. Also Aethyta told Shepard in ME2 that the asari already had the capabilities but the high command just laughed at her since building them takes vast amount of resources. Basically the developers couldn't get on the PAX panel and said that the game was rushed by EA who are their bosses and that's why the quality of the game dropped so much near the end. I blame EA most of this Bioware mess.

I agree with this.  EA is like the polar opposite of Blizzard, who may wait till NEXT Christmas to release Diablo III - they just don't release it if they don't think its perfect.  That's why all their games ROCK. They go for long term, sustainable profits, not quarterly profits.  ME3 turned in a monster quarterly profit, but their drop off next quarter will be the stuff of legend.

I agree with you. I was never suggesting that EA would push back the deadline coz the end was crap. sorry if what I said wasn't clear. I'm currently looking at my previous post and I don't think I framed my thoughts properly (courtesy of being slightly drunk :P) on the EA part. However, the rest of my post stands. Deadlines can only be used as an excuse for so much; this idiotic ending not being one of them, as I stated in the rest of my previous post.

Me it's 13-14 Shepards,6 on the xbox that died and took them with it and 7 on the new 360 slim took a couple of tries to find the Shep who romanced Kelly to get the fish.Took that Shepard through twice, hoping for a better ending.W-a-a-a-ay more than 30 hours.

And here I felt stupid for replaying the entire series again, just so I could get a "perfect save" that had a romance with Ashley in ME1 and Tali in ME2 - I of course chose Tali in ME3 so, um, I could finally get to see a badly photoshoped stock image...:(

They have no idea what's going on in the community as i'm pretty sure they aren't allowed on BSN and those who are probably aren't allowed to talk about what they read while they mod.

... that they didn't know gamers would get upset with their A/B/C ending even though they themselves had announced before ME3 release that the ending will NOT be an A/B/C ending and that all made choices would matter in the end.

Total joke

I'm looking forward to playing diablo 3 to forget this mass effect 3 ending ordeal

This is just ridiculous. If your really so oblivious Bioware that you thought the audience would not want closure then how can we really be hopeful for the DLC to explain the steaming pile of crap that is the current endings.

I cant believe they said that. My game informer ME3 magazine makes it very clear that Bioware knew EXACTLY what we wanted.

Wow... the only way they "wouldn't know there would be a huge demand for it", would be to completely not pay any attention to how they wrote the ending.

Claiming ignorance instead of owning up to a mistake is real classy.  I remember when I was 5, telling my parents "I dunno!" instead of taking responsibility.  Age 5.

Ludicrous.

LUDICROUS!

I think clark griswold in christmas vacation sums up how I feel about hudson and muzyka right now.

"Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol?"-Clark W. Griswold

This ending could have been acceptable if all of the details were flushed out and the epilogue for each race was more specific to the choices that you have made through out the game. Mass Effect 2 didn't really give you a large variety of choices for the main event of the ending, since it was really basically Destroy the Collector Base or Disable the Collector Base, but the minor details of the game gave the ending much more variance. What would have been cool would have been that if you Destroy the Collector Base, then the Cerberus Troops deal less damage to you but if you Disable the Collector Base then the Reaper forces would deal less damage to you. I personally wish that would have been implemented.

Mass Effect 3 could have been done in a very similar fashion with either Control the Reapers or Destroy the Reapers with lots of minor details that impact the ending with the races. Control the Reapers could have left the Mass Relays alone while Destroy the Reapers could have significantly damaged all of the Relays, so the races will be forced to rebuild them with their resources. Then all of your decisions during the genophage and everything else could have been what added the variance to the Mass Effect 3 ending.

But but but...our ending! ITS ARTISTIC... WHY CAN'T YOU RESPECT MY INTEGRITY.

Someone needs to ****slap bioware as a whole and remind them, artists make art to be seen and admired, not necessarily for themselves. So if they want to use that defense, kindly remind them, if you make ****ty art, the result is...you starve and die.

IE: People wont buy your stuff.

Also, let me run that statement through the PR translator.

Translation, We had a deadline to meet. We decided releasing a product with cut content was better than pushing it back a few months to give it the shine it deserves.

We stand by our decision to profit off all the hype. We're proud of all the money we made off you poor suckers.

Quick, everyone who has any stock in Bioware, start selling now. Quick before their stock value starts to plummet over this. Because from previous responses from other players i know that there are quite a few people who wont give more money to Bioware, especially if they are going to lie about a game and not give us what was promised.

Anyone with half a brain could see the writing difference between Ranoch/Genophage vs Sanctuary/TIM missions - I wouldn't quite say Thessia, Thessia still had dramatic " Oh Sh---- " moment, it was one of the story arch's that had to propel the narrative towards the showdown ... but after that? You can just tell. Clear as day.

Terrible and painful but... ahh well. Sure you'll get an extra DLC type of thing but...will you give a damn by then? I say the damage has been done and ME3 is now slipping to the low 30.00 range already.

Torpedo hit. Sunk. It sucks.

Do your selves a favor and fall at Marauder Shield's rifle --- and then write your self an ending.
