All time favorite game, pick one, don't need to justify or anything.

Call of Duty: World at War. The game is an absolute masterclass in video game presentation. The menus, the loading screens, Sean Murray's score, the voice acting (Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland are both great)... it's all amazing.
The campaign incorporated a lot of brand new scenarios, had a great enemy spawn system, and was a good challenge on Veteran difficulty. I found its competitive multiplayer to be the best in the series, as the maps are conducive to epic and grueling team objective modes, and of course, **** Zombies.
Dragon Age II comes close though, as does Road Avenger (Sega Mega-CD) and the first Shen-Mue on the Dreamcast.
After reading that I'm not sure if you are serious.
I can quite assure you that i am being serious.
I understand that DAII is not to to everyones taste and it had a few problems (namely the recycling of enviornments) but i loved the art direction, characters and the way Hawke interacted with them, the combat and the story was the best BioWare have ever penned.
It is all subject to opinion, I guess yours just differs than the majority...I legitimately didn't know if you were serious or not.

If I were to pick just one game, it would probably be this one as well.Moondoggie wrote...
Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
Great music, colourful graphics, extreamly fun to play and is everything that a good game should be. It's the only game i could play again and again and never get tired of it and it's been that way since the game was released for me.
I'd say Prince of Persia (the 2008 game) and some others are up there as well, though.

DOOM !
Finally someone picks doom. One of the first games with improved 3D lighting techniques, better use of verticality(see wolfenstein 3D's flatness), one of the most badass soundtracks in history, seriously disturbing enemies(though cacodemons still look like a tomato to me), and the first game to feature deathmatch multiplayer.

The Witcher 1/2
The whole Mass Effect series.
City of Heroes
Counter-Strike (like before Half-Life 2)
Hard to pick just one, but the four listed above sucked the most hours out of me.
