I couldn't care less, unless someone actually kicks me for not having enough kills (never happened). When I play an engineer I mostly use tech combos, rarely ever shooting something, and usually another player lands the kill shot. I'm fine with the "prepare for kill" role, being a cooperative player and all.

When i play infiltrator i think i kill steal a lot... But i dont doo it to ****** someone off. As salarian infiltrator i kill almost everything with one cloak-drain-shoot combo. Ive once heard someone complain about snipers always killing the enemys with the lowest health. Most of the time i dont even see the health bar before i do the cloak-drain-shoot combo. Also, if i see an adept or vanguard or something working on a guardian, im like "hey, bang! Guardians dead, now get moving and let me handle the hard targets! Go take out the trash..."

No such thing in a game of survival. Only strategy there is is to kill faster. If they missed out, they were too slow. Their aim was slow, their weapon is weak, or they aren't effective at using their class builds. Its not up to another player to allow you to sit and aim and fire while the target is still alive... Or get shot while they take their time for stat counting...
People and their egos and little sense of worth... You don't need a high score when you can't complete a match...

I play enough that my characters - if they aren't already - quickly get to 20th level so "kill stealing" is not something I worry about. After some of the threads here I have attempted to be more conscious about messing up biotic explosions, but have to admit that sometimes everything is just happening too fast for me to notice in time.

Mostly I play 20th level characters, however, as getting to high level isn't where the fun is for me, but rather figuring out how best to use my character once I'm there.

Each enemy is worth an X amount of points.

If you deal 30% damage to an enemy and some one else kills it you get 30% of its point value and your assist count goes up

If you deal 30% damage to an enemy and YOU kill it, you get 30% of its point value and your kill count goes up.

Medals for Assist cap out at 50 and kills at 75, both are worth an amount of points I cant recall at the moment.

So, if some one swoops in and kills the enemy with 1 health bar remaining, did they steal from you?

No, they saved you a bullet.

Yes, the 75 kill medal is worth more than the 50 assist, but you still get XP equal to its worth at the end of the match, not just the guy who got it.

You're 100% right OP. I'm all for a friendly Gimli vs Legolas style competition of who gets more kills, but getting angry over "kill stealing" is moronic. Unless it's a situation when, for example, a sniper has a shot on multiple enemies and shoots ones that are already being attacked/dying, causing remaining enemies to attack and threaten other players. But I wouldn't exactly define something like that as "kill stealing", more as "doing a ******-poor job at covering your teammates".

People complain about this on every game and it's stupid. There is no such thing as kill stealing. If you killed the enemy, then obviously it was your kill. There is no reason to hold yourself back because someone else isn't skilled enough to finish an enemy off. It doesn't matter if its co-op, multiplayer, pvp, or anything else.

Unfortunately many players dont get idea that dont shoot frozen targets and focus on moving targets, they are hindering their own gameplay if they only hunt stunned enemies. They are weakening their whole team while doing that :P

Pfff...not shooting a frozen target just so you can set off the cryo bomb? Tell me again who is wasting time waiting for the cooldown, even if it is fast, vs. a bullet in the brain pan and moving right along. Not buying it even if the blast is fun to setup.

When I top the board with my engineer it means someone's detonating tech bursts off my overloads and doing a lot of damage. If you wanna take it to mean other people aren't pulling their weight...whatever.

I need to find a gun I like for easy disruptor ammo application. Falcon/striker are a bit too heavy for my engineer tastes.

If you're not a gold specialist then you should really give the GPR a spin. It's not overly strong but it can paint things with ammo like few other weapons in the game. It does do exceedingly well with disruptor / tech bursts.

Generally I only am particular of "kill stealing" if someone uses a widow's shot to take care of a enemy with 1~3 health bars left.

Meh, kill stealing is a non-issue. It is fun to cooperate. Ever had a good working adept-team? Asplosion galore! I am mostly annoyed by people blowing away my primed targets. It's the blue glow that attracts trigger attention, I suppose. Try to aim for unprimed non-glowing mobs and let the biotics do splash damage.
However, you are invited to happily open fire on the blue-glowing big things. I have specced Warp-Exposure just for you to do more damage.

Some times it kinda sucks. Say you are a Batarian. Here's an enemy. You run up to it and FALCON PU *mysterious shot from nowhere* Oh. Well. Ok..

The funny thing is that it goes both ways. That enemy was probably someone the infiltrator decided to kill and popped into scope to make sure it was a headshot. This only takes the infiltrator a split second, but that's the same amount of time it takes you to run up to the enemy. He probably thinks you were trying to take the kill from him.

Of course the whole thing is silly. Someone said the MP Motto earlier, "Assume Nobody Else Knows What They Are Doing".

This is not serious, right? We all know each match is like a friendly competition (on silver, anyway) because naturally it is pleasing to see your own name with the top scores ;) On gold, it's more about survival, so I don't believe anyone really cares for "kill steals" and if they do, they shouldn't. Playing adept class, I don't rely solely on biotic explosions, but even so - I try to flank enemies or hunt alone - this way nobody messes up with my AOE attacks.

Oh and don't be so pissed at vanguards. In "charge only" build vanguard is often forced to literary "charge anywhere" to avoid heavy damage or death. Charging restores his barriers fully. So yeah. it can be a little random but it's better then being dead.

I was headbutting a Geth Prime to death, and there was a Geth Infiltrator on my team watching me the whole time. He waited till I'd taken down the Primes shields, and all of its healthexcept 1 bar. Thats when he fired and took the kill.

Maybe he was shooting something else? or trying to get away from some half-dead trooper. Geth are very fragile -_-
