when i play a support class, like an engineer, and i have the highest score, it means that the dps isn't working hard enough. as an engineer, my job is to hold choke points with my pet, aoe the trash, and keep the snipers safe to focus on the bosses. if everything is going smoothly, then the people with the highest number of kills are the people with the highest damaging abilities.

I don't really think of it this way, if i get top score i am too happy to start throwing blame around. I don't look at it as "they didn't do thier job" i look at it like "i did my job above average"

Just my way.

I don't understand why people get so worked up about kill stealing.

I had one game where I played my Asari Justicar and some random played a human vanguard. I would spam a group with reave and out of nowhere, the vanguard would charge. No problem right? The whole point is to kill everyone. But what gets me is the guy said "hahahahaha! I am stealing all your kills sucka!!!" Obviously this person was not paying attention to the bottom of the screen where it said I got the kills via biotic explosion.

Then there's times where I kill a phantom closing in on our group for hacking (another player must've hit the thing with 2 shots at most) and I killed the thing. I get called out for being a kill stealer, so I let him handle the next phantom... He went down and then yelled at me for not helping.

That said, score doesn't matter, who kills what doesn't matter, it's a game where you are supposed to have fun, etc.

If i get a score that is within range of everyone else, then the way I see it is that our team worked well together, we accomplished objectives, and got the experience/credits we wanted.  If there is great distance between me and the next lowest user, then I (still take this score with a grain of salt) feel like I need to pick up the slack and try a different style or method in our next round.

My point exactly. I feel worried when I end up at the bottom because this means I was not focused and feel proud when I do good, but blaming others is just silly. If you have skill, you can win with all kinds of party-members (well, this works for silver and bronze...)

If the enemy has more than half of his health, it's fair for me to shoot it as well. However, if he is already dying (with like 1-3 bars left, also depending on the enemy), I'd just look the other way and find another target. Unless it's in situations where we are getting swarmed, I'd shoot and detonate anything that walks. :D I've been trying to practice that when I'm playing with someone with a mic, just to avoid any negativity.

Because nobody, and I do mean NOBODY, is taking down my team. We are all going home alive and well...!!! Lol.

i honestly dont care if im top or bottom of the board at the end of a game, if a teammate needs reviving or covering when deactivating things im there, i get alot of assists which means im helping so im doing something right, if i manage to get even 1 kill im happy and if i get headshots well thats a bonus to me, but the important thing is teamwork imho

This is exactly how people should think when playing this game.

very true sadly too many dont think that way, and i've had many players that sit and do nothing in game or leave when they get taken down without giving anyone a chance to revive them :(

Which is exactly why I try to play with friends as frequently as possible. In randoms I usually end up with people who would rather run off and try to get high score than help me speed up the hacking objective. The real sad thing is, these people don't understand that they are pushing the enemies towards me which in turn still results in me having a higher score than them.

the only time im not in the hacking area is if im running from a banshee or ravanger but if im using my geth engineer i throw a turret down in the hacking area to help teammates whilst i try to get away from becoming banshee stew :(

In the thick waves, I agree with the "kill anything that moves" approach. But when things are less stressed, I prefer to follow team mates and just watch their back while they take on opponents. I try to stay out until I hear "shields are down". Then I will charge.

I notice many people just charge in and don't pause to see what their team mate is up to first. I can find that annoying when I am playing "cat and mouse" with the final kills in a wave.

like a lot of others have said, it only annoys me if I'm setting up combos. otherwise I'd rather have tha banshee/brute/ravager/phantom/prime dead as soon as possible.

I don't think it's the "stealing" that annoys people. I think it's other players only focussing on their own game and not paying attention to what others are doing and setting up. I think we all try for a little "art" in our approach to the game.

im still trying to get used to using my biotics on most of my characters but i can never get it lined up quick enough, the only time a kill steal annoys me really is if i have more than 1 enemy around me and im trying to meelee 1, instead of my team taking out the others they shoot the 1 that clearly im trying to meelee, thats a bit irritating but i dont leave games over it, i just sit and shake my head :(

If I hear anyone complain about it in my games, I will follow them around and steal every kill of theirs I can.

People who get worked up over kill stealing are needlessly competitive. I get mildy bummed when somebody messes up my biotic or tech combos, but if everyone makes it through the wave and we did all the objectives, I don't care. I certainly don't mind when another player activates my biotic or tech combos, that's just good gameplay. You're supposed to work together, setting them up and knocking them down. I like playing with people I know and play with regularly. I did a duo match with two Asari Justicar Adepts last night, and we mopped the floor with Cerberus on Condor. It was just Bronze, but it was awesome. And we did it by creating and activating our own and each others' combos. Good times!

^This^ is the reason I mainly play on Bronze, even with my lever 20's. I've not run into many accusing others of "kill stealing" on Bronze.

Kill stealing makes me laugh. I look at it as "credit sharing" since as long as we win the match we all get to share the credits. Don't care if I came in first or last as long as I know I helped. We all get to share the credits at the end and really, that's all I give a dam about.

On that note I did have 1 major DBag in a match once that really really pissed me off. We were both snipers and I noticed that whenever a boss came out the other sniper would never shoot till the boss type had 1 or 2 bars left. I even tested this. A brute had enough health left that I knew my next shot would leave him at 1 or 2 bars. So I cloak next to the other Inf. and he cloaks. I sit there and don't shoot. I wait and wait. Other guy never shoots. Cloak is about to expire so I shoot, 1 bar left BAM other guy shoots and get's the kill. Did this for every single boss type that came out. Just sat there and waited to shoot till he knew he would get the kill shot People like that need to go, that is nothing but douchebaggery to the fullest. Made me laugh though and I just dropped from the lobby as soon as the match was over. Really have no interest in playing with people like that.

LOL. I feel Guilty for this, ESPECIALLY when I play as a Vanguard, and when I use the Widow/Black Widow.

i have been using a sniper rifle lately, but its because im trying to get used to it, i always look around me to make sure im not standing in front of other players blocking their view and i dont go for a single target if someone is on them unless its a banshee

Teamwork is a key in MP, especially on Silver and even more on Gold. In order to succeed you need people you can rely on in your team - your friends or smart people with a simple device called microphone to coordinate attacks.

I love playing Adept (Drell) + Adept (Asari)/Sentinel (Human/Turian) + Vanguard + Infiltrator/Engineer. It's pure biotic explosions galore as all 3 work together, setting up and finishing combos (Banshee and alike die in mere seconds without a chance to deal any sort damage to any player even on Gold). Whilst Infiltartor/Engineer concentrates on objectives and reviving/covering biotic arses from afar.

It's fun, it's effective and it does not make you all grumpy when peeps start bragging about who "got more XP" and how you "suck, because you kill less than everyone else".
Know that, random player with ego size of Manhattan, if not for biotic Stasis on Gold which prevents a handful of Phantoms to get close to your Geth Infiltrator with Black Widow which you then successfully headshoot, you will be dead in no-time. I don't care about the kills, I care about my team getting through without falling down even once and get as much team bonuces as possible.

Most of the time, especially when swarmed, it's really hard to say who took the first shot. Especially when you're a newbie and - most of the time - afraid of everything that moves, or even looks in your general direction. Takes some time and practice to grow a pair and outskill a banshee/prime/atlas on your own. Until then - it's just spray'n'pray, and that burning need to _be_helpful_ and prove yourself. Low lev/N7 messing up your plan? Use the mike and explain, it's that simple.

Just a newbie speaking, anyway.
