Yes. Your tears, they're delicious.OGWS wrote...
Okay, yes everyone should shoot at the banshees and brutes that are swarming at us and disregard whoever gets the kill, but do you really need to shoot the lone marauder or even phantom or something with your widow from across the map, when it has less than a full health box left and im shooting at it? Is that really necessary?

And I wasn't even remotely serious. Though if someone really cares about "kill stealing" I will enjoy feeding on their misery. And then never play with them again, because they have a completely wrong mindset for a team based game.OGWS wrote...

How the heck am I supposed to know in that split second that I round the corner that you've got that Banshee under control?
Yeah, it may be low on health, but you might be out of bullets, you might be on a power cool down and that Banshee may be one little *bamf* away from skewering you.
Do I stop, wait for you to die and then fire?
Seriously?
I don't 'kill steal' on purpose. I shoot what's in front of me.
Now as a sniper, the vanguards and biotics really ****** me off. Nothing I hate more than lining up a shot only to have a vanguard teleport on top of it or have a biotic run up next to me and fire off a power that literally knocks my gun off target.
But that's the game. I'm not going to yell at someone for killing the bad guys. I might not stick around for another round with you, but I'm sure not going to tell you 'no, don't shoot at the geth that pop up in my sights.'
I see it. I try to kill it. Considering that as a sniper, I don't have the luxury to spend a lot of time moving around to find new things to shoot at, I'm not about to *not* shoot at something in my line of sight because you're hitting it.
Sorry.

Teamwork is a key in MP, especially on Silver and even more on Gold. In order to succeed you need people you can rely on in your team - your friends or smart people with a simple device called microphone to coordinate attacks.
I love playing Adept (Drell) + Adept (Asari)/Sentinel (Human/Turian) + Vanguard + Infiltrator/Engineer. It's pure biotic explosions galore as all 3 work together, setting up and finishing combos (Banshee and alike die in mere seconds without a chance to deal any sort damage to any player even on Gold). Whilst Infiltartor/Engineer concentrates on objectives and reviving/covering biotic arses from afar.
It's fun, it's effective and it does not make you all grumpy when peeps start bragging about who "got more XP" and how you "suck, because you kill less than everyone else".
Know that, random player with ego size of Manhattan, if not for biotic Stasis on Gold which prevents a handful of Phantoms to get close to your Geth Infiltrator with Black Widow which you then successfully headshoot, you will be dead in no-time. I don't care about the kills, I care about my team getting through without falling down even once and get as much team bonuces as possible.
Sometimes I love you.

one totally legitimate reason for that is that they might have been cleaning up the mooks while you were shooting the boss. this is especially important with banshees.
while you were running around, kiting the banshee- thank you, by the way- i was killing the ravagers that would have been pounding you with rockets. then i was killing the brute who wanted to chase you too. then i killed the marauders and cannibals and the husks that would have stun-locked you in the banshee's path. by the time everything was cleaned up, you had taken the banshee down to 10% armor. good job and thank you again. the banshee was then my primary target, so i shot it.
there are certainly ways that people are inconsiderate while playing, but i think that trying to make someone else not register kills is not really (or almost never) one of them. and even for that rare person- who cares? you still get payed at the end.
worrying about this is like playing soccer and not passing forward, because your teammate would "goal steal" your shot.

How? Communication. Which is, I think, what's really the problem here. If they haven't said anything, then you go in blazing and kill, they have no excuse, and no reason to hate you. Don't be sorry, don't let it faze you.
In my games, I have the most fun playing my support classes the most, because all the people I seem to meet don't communicate. If I go in with a vangaurd I'll use my abilities to support him. Same if I see an asari in the group. I'll help with combos, sit/rep, and covering fire.
When I go out as those DD classes, I don't get that same team work, even when they have mics. Only with a rare few, or with my group. Maybe this is just my experience, since I only play PUG's in silver, not gold. I really think it's just a lack of coordination and communication, in a game that's built for it.

This doesn't apply to life/death situations like hacking on wave 10 where we're in serious danger and we all must do our best to kill as many as quickly as possible. Steal or die, I pick steal. Otherwise, I try to remember that a great deal of the fun of this game comes from killing people, and there are 3 more people playing there.

However, when there's that d-bag who'll use biotic charge into a huge group of enemies and block my gunfire and proceed to kill everything. At that point, I have nothing to kill and it's boring. That's annoying as hell.

but when i do 90% of the damn enemie's health and im gonna give the final shot only to have the kill stolen from me and me getting an assist that only gives me 200 is kind of annoying

Said this is Halo and I'll say it again, it's only kill stealing in Free For All, it's teamwork. While it is annoying when you're solo'ing something and then someone comes over to finish your work, it's not kill stealing and it's just your ego going "hey I didn't need help on that". If you don't want you kills "stolen" play by yourself.
Oh yeah? Well, Jacob sucks.

But I do find it very annoying when trying to set up biotic combos alone. The blue glowing enemy always gets picked off first...

if I warp someone....and you clearly see he is glowing blue (or stasis and see him standing stil) that does not mean that you can snipe him...
i hate it when my throw is about to reach its target to set off a biotic explosion (probably going to kill two more enemies) but nooooooo, you had to snipe him so now throw hit no one...and we have to take a few more seconds to finish the wave *sigh*

My batarian sentinel has been keeping his lane locked down tight, nothing's getting through. I catch a marauder in my net, run out to falcon punch it. Wind up, and...infiltrator headshots it from 20 yards behind.
That's kind of an **** move, to be honest.
But it's cool. That infiltrator becomes my new best friend since he went out of his way to protect me from the marauder. So I repay the favor by following him around spamming shockwave at anything and everything in sight. Even if it's out of range.
Well played!
As a general rule, killing other peoples' targets is a kill secured, but if you know somebody's up to something, like setting up a Power Combo, or wants their Martial Artist/Weapon Synergy buff in the Batarian's case, then bloody well let them do it!
PROTIP: A marauder in a net with a dubstep fist aimed at its head is no threat to the team. Do not waste ammo on it.

1) I proceed to stasi anything that moves
2) each of the other pop heads from across the maps
3) any minions dead in seconds....
I did not care for the kill, was totally amusing that even without mic (I have, the other did not) after about half wave one we find a mopping strategy that totally works...
Why not?
Only time I got annoyed was to a DBag that was yelling in the mike how good and powerful he was... bronze with some max out 20lvl char and a X rate weapon... Sure, you where amazing!!!!! (not)

I noticed many times I look at the the full health enemy on the left, but then when I zoom into him I go to the enemy with only one health bar on the right.
When I shoot I then realise I didnt kill my intentional target but the target my sniper rifle decided to zoom into. But when you quick scope you dont think about the health, and focus on the headshot, so unintensionaly "killstealing".
