Is there a way to get rid of the NWN sounds tied to visual effects?

I have an ability that uses one of the NWN animations. When you use this ability, it also plays some default sound associated with the animation. The thing is, I have custom sound effects I want to trigger when you use the ability, and right now both my custom sound and the default animation sound play at the same time, which isn't very ideal.

Is there a way to mute or delete the animation's default sound effect? Any help is appreciated.

likely wanting visualeffects.2da.

Which particular ones are you trying to remove/replace? Might make the hunt a little easier.

Hm I never thought of that 2da. That's probably it.

Let's say my current visual is VFX_IMP_PULSE_COLD whose "sound impact" is set to sim_pulse. Would simply erasing the sim_pulse text from the 2da file stop that sound from playing? Also, could I put my custom sound effect into that 2da file and have it automatically play when the visual effect fires (I would need to put the custom sounds in a hakpak, right?). How would it work, exactly?

thanks for your help by the way!

Okay, deleting the sounds in the visual effects 2da file successfully gets rid of the default NWN sounds. But is there a way to edit the 2da file to include MY sounds, in the same way that you edit ambientmusic.2da to have custom music tracks? Or is there a way to use the override folder to name my sounds the same as the default NWN ones so that mine get used instead?

A few ways to work with this one...

Are you looking for this as a solution as a player? Are you working as aDM/builder?
