I am attempting to use the Toolset to open up a gamesave and override my char's face with a .mor file. However, it is taking unusually long to load, and then spits out an "out of memory" error.
Is there a way to increase the memory allocation that the toolset has so this doesn't happen?
"Out of memory" error...

Just don't try and open multiple large game saves, unless you have a serious amount of RAM (> 8GB).

I don't know why it uses so much memory to open a file that's only a few MB (and seemingly similar to a simple XML file). Luckily I have 64-bit Windows and 6GB of RAM, so I can open the later saved games (and that's only after doing the fix), but most people probably don't have that. I don't know if it's loading everything referenced within the file or what.

I'm surprised it has been so long and BioWare has not addressed the issue. Particularly when one has 6GB of memory.
Tis unfair. D:

Can you give me the file that leads to the error so I can see if it does the same here, because I have one small area, one script and two savegames (1 Lothering and 1 halfway trough). The toolset only use 1,35 GB. With Unity3D, 3DS Max and Firefox running alongside the Toolset, it exceeds 4GB totalCo.
Specs: i5 760, 8GB ram.

the toolset is a x86 app therefore it won't adress more than a 32bit windows can handle... even if you are using a 64bit system.

Yes, but still, where's the fix from Bioware? Why release a broken 32bit app with memory problems?

Any fix yet? I have a same "out of memory" problem with 4GB ram and 64-bit win7
That 1.0.1008.0 Toolset takes about 300MB ram and if i open my savegame itll takes 1800MB of ram and says that its out of memory. Still there are ram left, but it wont use more than that 1800MB

OK, now it works
Do like on this paste, just use DragonAgeToolset.exe instead of Fallout.exe
"I take no credit for the following 'tutorial', as it's pretty much taken from this Fallout 3 'Mod' and For the 3GB switch.
Anyways, as most of you guys know Fallout 3 was built from the ground up to utilize only 2GB of ram even if you're running more. Therefore by following these instructions you can use more than 2GB of RAM, and therefore have a significant performance bonus. For me, it was enough to play on Ultra High with a Nvidia Geforce 210 (My Geforce 9500 was being replaced).
Step 1) Grab the utility from the link above (This one), I've used it and it's not a virus (scanned with kaspersky), alongside being a pretty popular nexus file. But still, as it is an EXE exercise caution. Install it, if you wish (but it's necessary for the next few steps)
Step 2) Backup your Fallout 3 EXE
Step 3) Right click and click Open with CFF Explorer
Step 4) CFF Explorer will pop up, click 'File header' under the sub-heading 'Nt headers'
Step 5) Click 'Click here' under Characteristics
Step 6) A characteristics popup box will come up, click "App can handle >2gb address space"
Step 7) Hit Ok
If you're running Vista/XP 32Bit there's an additional step, but it's not recommended for everyone. You should have at least 4 GB of Ram for this, and also understand if you make a mistake THIS CAN PREVENT YOU FROM BOOTING UP
Vista:
Step 1) Use CMD to open the command prompt
Step 2) Run it as administrator
Step 3) Enter bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072 (To revert, enter bcdedit /deletevalue increaseuserva )
Step 4) Grab the hotfix for memory, this should prevent crashes. Hotfix
XP
Step 1) Right click my computer and hit Properties
Step 2) Click advanced
Step 3) Click settings in startup and recovery
Step 4) Click edit
Step 5) Add /fastdetect switch: /3GB /Userva=2900 to the [Operating Systems] section
Step 6) Save

It's better to use a external GFF editor instead of wasting resource and risk harming your computer or the toolset.

Yep, external GFF editor is the best choice
