*facepalm* Angry Joe is a joke.. and yet you take him seriously, which is hilarious.
Thats pretty harsh. Did he trash one of your favourite games or something? I'll admit his reviews are a bit silly and over the top but thats why I like them.
I used to like him and his reviews. And then I realized he doesn't really know anything. And then the VGA stunt happened, and he lost all credibility with me.

Joe basically tried to do an interview with Geoff Keighley at the VGAs...and it went south fast.
Because he didn't leave the persona at the door, which is my biggest problem with Joe and his whole spiel.

The series is marketed as a space opera, which is supposed to have fantastical elements into it from the get go. Your right, it's not as black and white, but honestly that is not the point, because in the end, the series was compared to Star Wars upon release, is still touted as a space opera video game and a modern take on the genre, and is analagous to Star Wars in it's basic narrative structure; Reapers= Great evil, must kill them.
And that still shined through in Mass Effect 3, even the ending didn't really do much to get rid of the fact that the reapers were the bad guys here.
Yeah, they really failed at depicting the Reapers as anything else there, that's true. (Which they tried, obviously.)
Both, Star Wars and Star Trek, can be counted as Space Opera, so thats not actually saying anything.
Biotics are obviously the most un-scientific thing within the rules of ME (and can be compare to the Force, but Star Trek too has elements of that), but the rest is on the 'harder' side of science fiction: Every race has its cultural, religious and political background (very much like Star Trek, and completely unlike Star Wars - which has a vast set of 'monsters' with not very much of an identity), the diplomatic relationships are complex and convincingly developed (again like or even more so than Star Trek, and unlike Star Wars very much) and the moral dilemmas are likewise complex and need careful consideration (not regarding the Reapers, but anything else - thus comparable to Star Trek much more that Star Wars).
And ultimately anything can be densed down to a very simple premise, more so to the specific premise "We must stop the evil guys". Most action, fantasy or scifi stuff follows this route.
A good explanation on the genre of ME is this:

That would be a terrible ending, to just about anything indeed.Prent62 wrote...
"It was all just a dream" is NOT a good ending, despite what many people seem to think.

If you're referring to the indoctrination plot however, "it was all just a dream" is certainly not what it suggests, which you can easily find out for yourself.

Actually, that vid made me think worse of Geoff Keighley than Joe himself. Sure, Joe was caught off guard, with a temper, and some poor research, but Keighley acted in a condescending manner. He could have easily defused the situation with Joe by being understanding but instead it seemed like he wanted to make Joe madder still.

Exactly! Don't really see why everyone blames Joe for being ill prepared when Geoff acts like such a douche.

Plus, he's also right. His take on the Extended Cut DLC is the same as mine; why add more to the endings we don't like?

He's not a sell out like some other journalists. He is a gamer first and then a reviewer. To many professional reviewers think and write with a mindset of developer > gamer. He thinks gamer > developer.
