Well damn I am excited I was not going to buy a PS3 for it.

Now all we need is Capcom to come to their senses and announce a PC version of Dragon's Dogma that way I can get excited for it.

I got about 1/3 the way through after renting the game. It's a tempting offer, I"ll admit. The PC release was inevitable, in a good way. :P I can pretty much guarantee that game will sell well.

I really liked it. I had Demon's Soul but then I got rid of my PS3 so I only played several hours worth of Dark Souls but it was a great improvement and I will definitely buy it on the second week of launch since it's well a console port I have no idea if Konami will do a proper job bringing it to PC after all.

Yes! Best news since the BG announcement. This might just be my favorite gaming year.

If you want to get into a challenge, and are prepared to fail and die a lot, then you'll definitely enjoy it, a very good dark fantasy rpg is what it is.

Will console players be getting these new bosses as well?

It's basically a rip your balls of difficult dungeon crawler. Very good, very fun and challenging.

I recently abandoned my PS3 (well not recently, we are talking like 3 years lol), and am now a PC gamer, this is very welcome news.

Any word if steam will be picking it up? If it has preorder bonus I'll drop a preorder right away :D

I'm happy for all my PC brethren. As a huge RPG fan, Dark Souls is at the top of my list. In many ways, it demonstrates so much potential of gaming as an art form. Get this game.

Edit: My only worry is I hope they release a dlc at some point to let us console players get at those new bosses. So much great design.

Awesome. Freakin' awesome! First modern game this year I'm excited about. Can't wait to play this finally. :D I'm amazed a company paid attention to a petition for once; but I'm very glad they did.

Excellent. I've always wanted to give Dark Souls a try. The visuals alone make it look lovely.

New bosses? New areas then? I'll imagine this Prepare to Die Edition might be released on consoles or could very well be an expansion that the PC gets with the main game whereas the consoles will get it separately. Perhaps they're just exclusive too the PC version. I'm not fretting that much. It's not like the story is being continued as the endings clearly give you a conclusion.

Well Dark Souls always felt like a rather traditional RPG so it'll feel at home on the PC. It's not as hard as people make it out to be either. Baldur's Gate 1 is harder! Seriously. Dark Souls is similar in that if you **** up your build, it's game over really. Lots of people find the game hard because they don't invest any statistics into vitality. Get your vitality over 1,200 and the only true challenges will be from certain types of enemies and bosses until you reach NG+ and so on where enemies are more powerful.

This is true. Vitality and Endurance really to make up the core of leveling.

So no glass cannon builds?

In most RPGs I like to be able to play a character who can deal a lot of damage, but often gets one-shotted if I'm not careful.

That's difficult to say. One problem with the glass cannon concept in Dark Souls is that a shield is pretty close to a necessity in order to play, even for casters. The ones you'll be using won't resist all damage (only about 65% will be absorbed, depending on your shield), but if you don't have any points in vitality, even a few absorbed blows might kill you.

That said, vitality/endurance are most important for melee-oriented characters. You still can put alot more emphasis on your magic abilities, but I'd recommend at least a few points in Vitality.

You can make a glass cannon. Some of the most powerful spells damage wise require quite heavy investment in stats such as faith or intelligence, so you will be hard pressed to get points to endurance/vitality, if you rush the stats to get them.

A Dark Souls Sorcerer that is not at new game plus and is striving for spells such as Homing Crystal Soul Mass and Crystal Soul Spear is the very definition of glass cannon. Tons of damage with very little room for error. Really need to bring your A game when it comes to dodging and parrying.

Sounds like fun, Mystic - thanks for the tip!

How about a sneaky archer type build?

Stealth comes to play really in pvp only. There's a spell that disguises your character to be a part of the enviroment (like a bush in a forest and so forth) and one that makes your body transparent. And even in pvp it's a bit of a gimmick, but you can get some nice ambushes if your opponent isn't wary enough. definitively not useless. In pve though stealth is limited to backstabs only, so archery and stealth don't mix in pve at all really.

Archery on the other hand is mostly used to pull mobs away from other nearby enemies. Most of them don't deal enough damage to warrant a whole playstyle to archery. There's probably 2 or 3 good projectile weapons in the game, that makes an archer type character viable later in the game, but until then, it's just used as luring enemies from other enemy groups.

So would a stealth melee build be viable, focusing on backstabbing, sneaking, poison, etc., who is easily one-shotted (very low vitality)?
