@naughty99

Eh, in theory it's possible but most of the time as you progress, the enemies are facing towards your character and the only way to backstab them is through strafing and avoiding their attacks, and most of the bosses are immune to backstabs all together. In my experience the most you can get out of stealth in pve is in the beginning of the game, with one particular black knight that has his back faced against your character :P. so pretty nonexistant

There are poison darts and arrows in the game, that you can use to poison your targets, as well as a few poison cloud spells in the pyromancy spell school of magic. So if you you really really want to play like an assassin type of character in pve, it's somewhat possible, as long as you take out the stealth aspect out of it, and prepare to do a lot of strafing to make most of your attacks be backstabs.

In pvp though? Totally possible

I was told putting any points into vitality is unnecessary until you beat the game once. Sounds like a good idea as it will keep the regular enemies dangerous and exciting. I prefer doing better damage and being more vulnerable anyway. It comes down more to your skill and defense that way, instead of being able to just soak up damage.

Woohoo! Cannot wait! Plus, I can mod/hack/cheat on the PC to make the difficulty easier. ;P I am not that interested in frustration.

Dark Souls can be played and beaten without investing much into vitality. I've seen people with only 700 HP beat the game but having low HP also means that you're going to be much easier to kill and it's normally the people with low HP who have the most trouble with the game. The game is still rather challenging even with high HP.

High vitality alone won't get you far however if you suck at the gameplay. Armor plays a huge role too. If you're playing a character with very low defense, then you won't be able to risk having hits landed on you. Light armors often provide the lowest defense but you'll be lighter on your feet and quicker at dodging as a result.

Basically, crafting weapons and armor and upgrading them is also important. I'm playing a cleric right now with 12 strength and the starter mace but I've upgraded it to do 250 damage per hit and some enemies even take 300 damage from it when I wield it with two hands due to their low resistance to blunt weaponry.

We can kill her in our worlds but that doesn't stop some PC player - dedicated to her and her covenant - from modding the game so that she reveals her breasts when the player advances to LV 3 in her covenant.

"Oh Chosen Undead. I'm in love with you. Grab my breasts."

Is there even a +3 for her covenant? I only joined once for 2 minutes to get the achievement and the ring. I'm a darkwraith through and through.

Interesting. Hopefully there will be a demo...I'd like a chance to try it out before I think about buying.

@Elton, I love that comic strip of Gwynevere, hilarious! With all the glitches and stuff happening on the PvP scene, I'm wondering how much worse that will get on the PC with all the mods. Either way, I'm happy that more people will get to experience this game. Too bad Atlus went to crap with their whole Cursed Crusade. I hope we get another sequel in a few years. They should really think about not adding the whole plague area in the next game. That part was just so laggy and crappy. I'd rather see more of the catacombs type difficulty instead of plagues and mosquitos.

Oh, and Clerics are my favorite class. The Way of White, though, is the best clan. Wrath of God is so much better in Dark Souls, but the only problem is that it's pretty hard to get away from. They should increase the cast time a little. Before I stopped playing, I was beating the game at like soul level 5. You don't need any vitality, but I really hate being one shotted.

Atlus? They only published Demon's Souls. I don't think they even got to publish Dark Souls anywhere in the world although I hear Atlus was the better publisher than Namco simply due to their limited edition for Demon's Souls. Blightown (the plague area) is quite annoying at times with those giant mosquitos and the frame rate once you get in the swamp but I've never actually complained about it. You're mostly on those platforms up above anyway where you have to be careful where you step.

The Wrath of God (Wrath of Gods in Dark Souls) and other powerful miracles are supposed to take a long time to cast because the game says that you're praying and telling a tale of the gods to cast the miracle. You have to be tactical when using miracles such as WoG or any other miracle which emits force.

I already have a PS3. How good is this game?

If you want to get into a challenge, and are prepared to fail and die a lot, then you'll definitely enjoy it, a very good dark fantasy rpg is what it is.

Will console players be getting these new bosses as well?

Basically if you thought Ninja Gaiden was too easy this game is perfect for you
I can't get passed the 2nd boss in Demon's Souls this game just WHOOOOSH right over me.  I don't need a brain tumor from playing a damn game

it's going to a lame console port, I already sensed it. No way this game can work properly with KB and mouse.

Just saw one of the new bosses supposedly added into the game, but I can't get the image to upload. If you have the artbook from the limited edition then turn to the page with the big white manticore on it. That's one of the new bosses.

Edit: Ah here we go

Actually, in Dark Souls, WoG doesn't take long at all. When I first experienced that spell, I was in the Catacombs invading another player. He quickly cast the spell three times, and wouldn't let me get up from the push--killed me easily. They should increase the cast time.

Wow. I really, really want to kill those things. Seriously, they better release a patch or dlc or something. I'll gladly pay for more Souls gameplay.

My only real hope is, that they tweak some of the bosses. A few of them, like the Gaping Dragon need pretty hefty buffs for them to be even remotely challenging. And don't get me started on the Pinwheel encounter.

I doubt they would abandon the console players, so I'm pretty sure this will be coming as dlc to us. And if not, well the PC players made a loud enough noise to get it on PC, I'm sure console players can do the same to get the new stuff.

I don't know if this is what you meant, but more health=/=more challenge. I'd hate it if they give the Gaping Dragon a bunch of extra health so we sit there hacking away for longer than normal (and he does have a lot of health). I wish they added a Tower Knight kind of boss battle. I thought his difficulty was pretty normal considering some of the others. If I had to rank them, I'd say that the hardest boss battle for me was easily the two Tower Dragons. They weren't as hard as the Maneaters, though. Second place would probably have to go to the Undead Asylum boss under the level that throws those firebombs.

Nah, i meant more like: make the Gaping Dragon recover much faster after it attacks, and maybe give them some new tech all together. I agree that upscaling hp is a cheap way out, to make a game seem more challenging. Fallout 3: Point Lookout was horrible in this sense.

Those new bosses look pretty cool. That dragon looks like the red drake but even more demonic.
