God I remember rolling a Mage and enemies just had to look at them in the early levels and they would die.In saying that the trade off was good in higher levels with the right buffs they were god like.Elton John is dead wrote...
New bosses? New areas then? I'll imagine this Prepare to Die Edition might be released on consoles or could very well be an expansion that the PC gets with the main game whereas the consoles will get it separately. Perhaps they're just exclusive too the PC version. I'm not fretting that much. It's not like the story is being continued as the endings clearly give you a conclusion.
Well Dark Souls always felt like a rather traditional RPG so it'll feel at home on the PC. It's not as hard as people make it out to be either. Baldur's Gate 1 is harder! Seriously. Dark Souls is similar in that if you **** up your build, it's game over really. Lots of people find the game hard because they don't invest any statistics into vitality. Get your vitality over 1,200 and the only true challenges will be from certain types of enemies and bosses until you reach NG+ and so on where enemies are more powerful.

Holy ****. In a utterly stupid move Dark Souls will use Game for Windows Live I guess I won't be buying it.
I don't mind Games for Windows Live, so I don't see how this is a problem.

Well I do I hate the service. I had to deal with it in Fallout 3 until the script extender was out and it was a huge pain.

Dealing with GFWL is one of the few things I find more frustrating than playing Dark Souls. I'm guessing they thought it a good way to add to the masochism level for the PC release.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I wish they had went with Origin instead of GFWL at least I can deal with that client.

So panic averted, I hope. Dark Souls is a great game and everyone should play it.

According to clarification I saw, it was not 'Games For Windows Live' but just 'Games For Windows', which is the rather generic 'brand' on most PC games these days.

Panic resumed.

Ah. Well, I'll have to hope the new bosses come to the console versions - nothing against GFWL, but it doesn't seem to work with my home PC for some reason. Can't play Fallout 3 anymore as a result, which is mildly irritating.
Still. Very good game - has some of the best level design I've ever seen, even if Blighttown murders frame rate.

Still, Anor Londo more than makes up for it. As does the Kiln of the First Flame. The level design really is brilliance.

Particularly how you discover the connectedness of everything as you play through. It really does feel very cohesive.
And Anor Londo was brilliant. My favourite area, though, was the Ash Lake. And Lost Izalith, aside from the irritating jumping dragon creatures.

See, I feel like I never got the full Lost Izalith "experience". My first two playthroughs I wanted to keep Solaire alive, so I always used that backpath through Quelaan's Covenant. But even on my third playthrough, I just kept island hopping and never fought any of the jumping dragons. I will admit that their size + numbers didn't make me too keen on the idea.

Honestly, the biggest issue with them was mostly due to technical glitches. Attacks would randomly miss, they'd end up in the geometry, etc. Made that whole section a nightmare not because they were particularly challenging, but the bugs became rather irritating by the end.

Sam here- I can't play Fallout 3, GTA4 or Arkham Asylum due to freaking GFWL. I'd love to get Arkham City but I don't want to just end up wasting my money.
I'd LOVE to finally play Dark Souls but GFWL is a heaping piece of dog excrement.

Hmm I'll probably stay on Xbox then, I'm not sure what the problem with GFWL is, this is the first time I've heard people angry about it, is it poor quality service or something else?
GFWL is just a general PITA. It took me an hour to install Arkham City because you have to copy and paste the CD code multiple times and create all kinds of multiple accounts for hotmail or gamertag.com or whatever it was.
And this was all on top of the Steam DRM that I was already logged into. For most Steam games you simply log in to Steam, then press Install and that's it. Arkham City was so incredibly annoying to install that I almost gave up.
