Give jewels to the people and they complain that they don't have gold framing.

This should help you play. Game for Windows LIVE Disabler. I use it myself since I had similar problems. :)

For a game like Dark Souls which you need constant connection to get max. gaming experiance, GFWL will be disaster.

My WH40k Dawn of War 2 days are still haunting me...

Yea the multiplayer aspect is one of the most unique and exciting features which means GFWL can cause even more problems. Just trying to play multiplayer is a pain.

Been playing this off and on for the PS3 since it came out I absolutely love it. Will probably buy it again when the PC version comes out unless they release the new content as DLC

If I get this again I probably will not play an archer, I found that I broke the game pretty easily. And if it was pretty easy to get headshots with a controller, it is that much easier with the mouse and keyboard.

I had a different experience - found a bow was 'easy mode' in Demon's Souls, but in Dark Souls it didn't really do me much good. What bow were you using?

The starting bow that I upgraded a couple of times. Killing enemies one at a time was pretty easy but standing far enough away and pulling them one at a time, and even armored enemies would take some damage when getting hit. But most of the areas I got to had "safe spots" that I was able to pick off even bosses, the most aggregious being the giant armored boar. Sure, I went through a ton of arrows, but I didn't die often so I had plenty of souls to spare and still level up.

I just hate the fact that it's even neccesary to have tools like this. I've stopped using GFWL, simply because it's a bad service that's riddled with bugs and sits somewhere below managing IE6 issues on Microsoft's priorty list. It needs to go away entirely, really. But that also means I'm having to pass on otherwise good looking titles.

Dark Knight Artorias? I guess The Abyss corrupted him or he betrayed Gwyn and joined the Darkwraiths. Since Hawk Eye Gough is an NPC and another knight of Gwyn, I guess we'll learn what happened from him.

I wonder if this new chapter is optional or if it takes place after the story.

You are recommending a DRM circumvention crack to a Bioware dev? :P

My guess is that this will be a new chapter in the story, and I hope it's coming to consoles as well, Artorias looks really awesome on that cover and in some of the concepts I've seen.

Wait, when did we meet Gough? I don't recall this.

Some new updates for you all:
- The PC version GFWL decision is not completely set in stone and is still an ongoing discussion for Namco, but could go either way, so don't give your hopes up.

- The new content will be around 3-4 hours long, feature new npcs and will involve Artorias the Abyss walker in the story.

- The new content will also improve pvp making it easier to fight competitively with friends online.

- PC version will be a straight up console port.

- PC version will feature no mods as Namco have never really tried that sort of thing for PC before, though they would like it to be featured in their next product.

- The new content has not been announced for consoles but has not been confirmed to be PC exclusive yet. My guess is something will be announced at E3.

- The Pendant is still useless...for now...

Those are some pretty low-res textures. Hope they improve on that.

The description for the new content states that he's one of the new NPC's that we can meet.

---

I'm actually interested in this new content. There's supposed to be four new areas and that means at least 4 - 5 hours content for experienced Dark Souls players but the gameplay time could easily be more if the new content contains new surprises which experienced players won't expect. Combine that with new bosses and enemies with new attacks and this new content could easily produce challenge for the experienced player.

As for that pendent. I think the developer is just trolling. I think there's no use for it and never will be.

As for the low res graphics; what was to be expected really? Dark Souls isn't bad graphics on console but it's not the best either. It certainly shines in some places such as with the detail applied to armor and weapons and some of the enviroments look amazing but other places do have low res textures and I wouldn't imagine a console to PC port would increase the graphics.

One thing I hated about Dark Souls is that the story is open to complete interpretation. The game never answers many questions and you're left wondering about certain things.

*Spoilers for the story follow*

Solaire - for example - is one such character with a shroud of mystery around him. His incredible skills and abilities in battle aren't the result of his armor or weapons as they are rather basic with no special properties. During the Chaos Centipede boss battle we observe that he is rather resistance to lava and it hardly does much damage to him. How can this be? The only ring to give that type of resistance to lava is within the Centipede and it's the only ring in existence of its kind. This leads me to believe that Solaire certainly isn't an ordinary human to have such resistance against fire and lava.

I believe he's Gwyn's Firstborn son who was a god of war who was revoked of his deity status for some reason. Within soon his name was forgotten as was he. I'd imagine the altar to the right of Gwyn's statue in the Anor Londo palance was originally the place for the statue of the Firstborn. I believe the broken statue encountered in The Undead Parish is actually this status as the design is similar to Gwyn and Gwynevere's statues and who do we have standing next to statue and telling us to pray to it? None other than Solaire!

I believe when Solaire fell from his deity status, he forgot his past (as was intended) but still retained some sort of memory about his deity status hence why he wants to become a sun. Gwyn was The Lord of Sunlight and The Firstborn was supposed to be Gwyn's heir and was supposed to inherit the sun. Solaire literally seeks to become a sun. Solaire's namesake actually stands for solar which stands for sun. Next we have him as a summon for the final boss battle against Gwyn if we save him. Now why him? Why not Crestfallen Warrior? Why not Siegmeyer? Why not Black Iron Tarkus? Why not Knight King Rendal? Why Solaire? It's awfully conspicuous in my opinion and the evidence all adds up. He must be Gwyn's firstborn.

What I would have liked would have been for a third ending involving Solaire. We summon him and then we get a cut scene where he recalls his past and remembers that he's the Firstborn. When you kill Gwyn, Solaire then lights the fire - following in his father's footsteps - sacrificing himself in the process which redemns him. He then becomes grossly incandecent as he wished for. Everyone wins and it'll make for a much better ending too and one where you could ignore both Frampt and Kaathe.

*Spoilers end*

Personally I prefer the story of the characters within the game over the main story itself. I often think that the main story is rather about the characters themselves rather than the main story.

That last image seems a bit low-res to me, even coming from someone on xbox. Maybe it's not completely finished yet?

"After the announcement last week, From Software's director Hidetaka Miyazaki has addressed many questions from the game's fans in the latest press release. One of the most prominent queries is how and where the new content will take place in the game – Miyazaki revealed that the new content will have players following in the footsteps of the Great Knight Artorias, an important character in the game's mythos despite never appearing in-game, and may even allow the player to control the Abysswalker himself. New equipment and NPCs will also make an appearance, and a dedicated PVP arena will also be included as a bonus – possibly similar to the game's predecessor Demon's Souls that included a battle where rogue players were summoned to fight alongside an area boss."

Sounds interesting.

Agh, damn it! Now I definitely need to get my hands on this. Artorias' backstory (what we know of it) is awesome. Dark Souls' lore in general is exceptionally well done.
