Not necessarily. There are plenty of Games for Windows Live titles on Steam that force both DRM methods on the purchaser. The most infamous of those is Fable III. GFWL, Steam, *and* Securom for that triple threat DRM goodness. XD

Arkham City was the same. My biggest regretted purchase of 2011, for all the headaches those three systems all at once have caused me -_-

And that's all I have to say about that.

Console, but I was insanely worried we wouldn't get this new content. I want to know everything about Artorias, Dark Souls-style.

I would love a fight like Ornstein and Smough, but this time with Artorias and the Great Grey Wolf Sif. That would be awesome in my humble opinion. Not likely gonna happen, but a man can dream.

Yeah, agreed.

I've been meaning to get back to this and finish 100%'ing it. Think I'll do it after I'm done with Dragon's Dogma for the time being.

I'm still doing my first playthrough. Most of the Depths are done...I need to go back and nosy around nooks and crannies for loot.

But with those frogs on the loose, its risky...

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing another run through as well. I might give a sorcerer a shot, since I haven't really played too much with the magic system yet, besides low level heals.

And that trailer was just epic. My favorite part about it? The final shot of that Black Knight impaling the player on the floor. That's Dark Souls, in a nutshell. Image IPB

Ah, so Blighttown's next? One piece of advice: take it very slowly. One thing I love (and hate) about Dark Souls is how deadly the environments can be. They're as likely to kill you as anything you might fight.

Did they decide to go with Steamworks instead of GFWL?

Hey, no pointers! :P

Let me tell you a story about the Depths. Went down there after finally beating that a-hole Capra Demon...most pure euphoria I've experienced in gaming in a while. Died a couple times on early entry (noticed the undead with fire have more HP) and once to the butcher, then explored and caught a secret door hidden behind barrels. I beat a miniboss rat, go looting and then fell through an impossible to see hole all the way to my death.

Next time around I went the main way, and got far...all the way to a bonfire. Even survived goo drop a-hole and so started paying attention to the ceiling. Went further down, and fell again through a hole, this time landing and surviving, only to be cornered and gang owned by frogs. That breath! Died instantly, snd got cursed, losing as a curse penalty half my health. So I'm like...ok...I'm cursed, but I can maybe go a little longer. Got re-cursed, and down to 1/4 health as a penalty. I realized how I better leave and seek a cure, quick. I died twice just trying to get back, and even then surviving barely and because thankfully Bloodstone Ring helped me.

It took me an hour to locate a cure, all but forgetting the man who actually sold it. And boy was it pricey. That jerk!

The Depths are so much fun. I've never experienced an atmosphere that oppressing and filthy. It's like that entire area is nothing but a hive of rotten filth, decay and mourning. That stuff seeping from the walls, the dark, not knowing what unpleasantness new or old hides behind each turn.

Got to a boss...that big nasty dragon-esque thing that looks half dragon half vile insect.

So this is interesting and..sad.

From Software "having a tough time" porting Dark Souls to PC, frame rate issues remain

At least they are honest about it and I can understand why they aren't well improving the graphics and using GFWL.

It came with Arkham City and it took me hours to install the game.

Despite activating the game with Steamworks DRM, which has always been convenient since I'm already logged onto the Steam client, I had to go through another step to activate the game online with GFWL and WB Games by manually re-typing the serial key into a separate browser window. (Not just copying from the Steam window and pasting, but writing this down and manually typing it again, which seemed extremely silly, considering I had just paid for the game via Steam.)

OK, I thought I'm finally able to play the game, but then I learned about a third type of DRM for Arkham City. Apparently you can start playing at that point, but you cannot save the game unless you make a hotmail account, which is completely useless and a waste of my time since I already have gmail.

Then there was a fourth hoop I had to jump through - you have to sign up for something else related to Xbox, not just a hotmail account. Even though I don't own an Xbox, I had to join something called a microsoft "gamer club" and then you must fill out yet another application with more stupid CAPTCHAs, etc., in order to register for a gamertag ID.

I have no interest in hotmail or any Microsoft gamer club, or registering for a separate "gamertag" so I shelved the game and went back to playing Skyrim.:P

Then, on top of the hassles of installing any GFWL game, I have heard that it is a very poor choice to handle the multiplayer aspects of the game as other MP games using GFWL suffered from serious connection problems.

Just read this. Much better.

The last time GFWL added a feature, George W. Bush was president.

GFWL is bad. Steam is bad. Origin is bad. Any client is bad.

Too bad about Dark Souls. They shouldn't have bothered.
