Is ME 3 the most disappointing game of 2012?

blast with the new moves and new weapons. It is the story that is
disappointing, that is the most important part of the game. Sure the
ending was a big factor, but there is a major disconnect from the
storytelling in ME 1 and ME 2.
In the pervious 2 games, there
was more devolopment of the story and characters with Shepards
interactions. Your Shepard, with your replies, decided how they
devoloped in the game. In turn, you could effect who lives or dies in
the game. While parts of ME 3 are like that, it does not effect who the
story plays out. Your choices does not effect anything really in this
game's story. You could possibly kill everyone in your crew and still
get to the Starchild. That is the major disappointment in ME 3, there
are no consequences to your choices that effect the end result.
In
my opinion, ME 3 is a disappointing game because it fails to measure up
to ME 1 and ME 2. There drama moments in ME 3, but there is no overall
drama in the game once you figure it out. The story does not want to
come back and try something different because it all ends the same. That
is not something Bioware/EA should be touting as "artistic" vision. It
something they should look at when doing a RPG game as a mistake. The
major key in a RPG, in my opinion, is how the player's choices effects
how the story unfolds. ME 3 unfolds to the same spot no matter what you
do and that is a failure.
I know the 75 critics love this game,
but that means 75 people out of 3 million love this game. It doesn't
really mean anything if they are the only one's that like it, now does
it? I know more that think there is nothing wrong with game and it
perfect in every possible way. I am just say touting that is a bit
childish since it is only 75 people that happen to have a publication to
print their opinions. Sorry Bioware/EA, I think ME 3 will be voted the
most disappointing game of 2012.

For me, ME3 wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but in honest perhaps my expectations were a little over-realistic, although i do believe they were managable (i.e keep the game more like ME2 and add in the gimmicks at the start of a new series).
That being said it's certainly not going to be the worst game of 2012, it will be one of the best.
Standalone ME3 was fine. As the end of the Mass Effect triology, it was disappointing (and an example not to ditch your lead writer in the last part of the triology) so yeah, it probably will be the most disappointing game for a lot of people.
The only reason it will be the most disappointing is because people were looking forward to it more than they are to other stuff this year.

ME3 has the most disappointing endings of all time, but I don't know if the game is the most disappointing for the year.
Maybe a worthy end to the company.

These stand alone titles that come out this year and fail don't really matter to me.
Got hopes for Tomb Raider reboot and Halo 4. Crystal Dynamics has really stepped it up and I'm excited for 343's fresh take on Halo.

Nothing could be more disappointing than ME3 this year. A 5 year build up for a trilogy to end so poorly will be soul crushing for at least a year.

I think the worst thing that could happen here is that ME 3 becomes forgettable. If a year from now, no one is talking about Bioware/EA or Mass Effect that would be the end of the series. Being voted most disappointing means at least people are still talking about it if you want to put a spin on it.

Comparing ME 3 to ME 1 and 2, ME 3 is disappointing on the story level. Bioware/EA appear to not even to try reach the bar they set with those games.
That's a fair point.
If it had been made by Obsidian we would saying, "It's amazing, it actually works"
If it had been made by Valve we would be saying, "It's amazing it actually has a proper story"
If it had been made by Bethesda we would be saying, "It's amazing, it actually has content"
Bioware are definitely paying for having a reputation for a certain amount of competence.

The issue is not whether the ending was good or bad. The issue is that there was only *one* ending, irrespective of what decisions players made.
