ME3, to me, is the biggest disappointment in gaming history.

Not even close. I liked the game. I still like it.

It's a sequel. That automatically makes it trash compared to it's predecessor to the hipster crowd. Remember all the people claiming how broken and dumbed down ME2 was compared to ME1? Now the mantra is that ME2 was a masterpiece and ME3 is broken and dumbed down.

Most disappointing game of this generation, and among the most disappointing games of all time.

Syndicate was pretty disappointing.

They had fantastic subject matter to play with.

Yeah the stuff was there in Syndicate to make it an awesome game but it just missed out. I think having the protagonist being silent was really detrimental and it did just feel as though you were a plot tourist. However in scale of disappointment ME3's ending for me managed to blow Syndicates efforts out of the water in 5mins.

As for whether it'll be the most disappointing game of 2012 we're only half way through, six months to go. Lollipop Chainsaw looks like it contains some of my simpler tastes (Cheerleaders and Zombies) but I have my doubts it'll be able to pull off the bizarre ideas it works with and will probaby be dreadful. (Surprising amount of voice talent though) Hawken looks interesting but again not sure on its overall idea of the game is and I still haven't played the new Ghost Recon so that could be **** as well and Far Cry 3 looks awesome but I've yet to see gameplay, so not holding my breath on that one.

IMO looks like the industry is in a rut.

I see this in advertisement of most of all American movies in commercial you see that this will be the best movie ever, revolutionary project, blah blah blah pinnacle of movie production.. you go to see it and well after first scene you start to fell Déjà vu you really know what ending will be. ME1was so different mystery kept you to the last minute. ME 3 oh well... another head shot and to another location ..head-shot head-shot head-shot another location head-shot head-shot head-shot.. and those acclaimed multiple endings.... was it yellow or red .. doesn't matter no difference galaxy ripped apart anyway same grandfather talking same story...

Disappointing is a mild understatement. Hoping for an RPG, got a shooter with RPG elements. Am I alone that I enjoyed inventory management and planet exploration? I know not everyone liked the Mako or the Hammerhead but to cut out planet exploration altogether? Aw man. If I wanted to play gears of war I would, you know? Character development? Who the **** is mince vega? and the other guy, Cortez? A loyalty mission for these guys to introduce them and make us give half a **** would have gone a long way. You remember when they were saying " A smaller crew for greater depth" or something.. Is it just me or was there also less interaction with the fewer crew members that were there? I mean half the conversations Shepard can't even be bothered to look at the person, and it does kind of break immersion if you're having a heart-to-heart with someone and have to keep walking in circles to try to get Shep to at least LOOK like s/he gives a **** about the conversation.
What happened to picking what mission to do? I understand some missions follow as a result of others but an entirely linear experience was not what I was expecting from what had been up to that point the best and most promising sic-fi series I had come across in a long time.
and the ending... yeah. If the EC had been in there from the start I probably wouldn't have thought too much about it. A bit lackluster but what are you going to to? With the EC following months of cheetos-dusted speculation, however... Bioware had an out. They could have become this cycle's exemplar. An avatar of victory! The IT was there, meticulously thought out and checked over by legions of thorough, critical minds. All they had to do was reach out and take it, claim it as their own. "Ho, ho" They'd say with a knowing smile and a wink "You worked out our little puzzle" and we'd all smile and accept their lie because we don't care if it's true or not. Imagine: Shep rises from the rubble. Slowly, inexorably. Harbinger looks around but it's too late, Shep is already on the citadel. Once on the citadel the citadel defense force is slowly being pushed back by a tide of reaper forces but those side-missions are paying off! The militia is fighting tooth and nail, cerberus turrets have been re-purposed etc.. Shep gives a speech. One last push to the citadel tower, the main controls where Saren met his end. A brutal fight to the tower, with star-child appearing and disappearing, pleading it's case. THEN, the arms open, the crucible docks and it strips the shields from the reapers, evening the odds. Cut to scenes of bitter struggle, massive losses on both sides until the reapers are all but destroyed. DLC could then be mopping up the stragglers, thwarting their schemes to return.
But no. Artistic integrity.

I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed..

For me it is the most disappointing game 2012 already.

The only improvement in comparison to the previous games was the combat system, while many other aspects like the dumped down conversation choices made ME3 the worst part of the series for me. I had expected more.

I have a hard time imagining a scenario in which any game this decade will disappoint me more.
