ME3 is a fantastic game up until the last 5 minutes. It is completely stupid to call it a disappointment given how much it does well. The ending DID NOT ruin the entire game, or the series as so many have outlandishly claimed.
Wow...just wow. Have anger issues? Intelligence isn't define by persepective or opinions of a game. My opinion of the game is it is a disappointing game which is not to be confused with "bad game". Read the first paragraph of the OP and not just the title which I am guessing that is all you did. Amazing how someone's post can tell a lot about there persepective of the world.
So...you disected my post into what you wanted it to be. Ok, ill do the same, but on a broader level. This entire forum is filled with ****ing, and whining, and crying about "broken promises", and "Bioware isn't listening", and blah, blah, blah. Excuse me for paraphrasing, or using a synonym to describe what was obviously being inferred. If my perspective of the world was shaped by the misery that permeates this place, id have offed myself a long time ago. Luckily, im aware that the world isn't such a miserable place as this forum, so im able to live happily, and with much contentment. Im here to chat with people who aren't completely anal, and have a perspective that isnt so narrow. They do exist here, though they are few and far between.
Your implied understanding of my perspective of the world based upon my take of someones opinion of a video game is hilarious, and pretentious on a whole different level.

It's perfectly possible for the best game of the year to be someone's most disappointing game of the year. You you guys are both right!

For people who appreciate the ending, i respect your opinion. Please respect also others (not downplay or sneer opinions which do not conform or contradict) who are disappointed with the ending and try to understand where the anger, disappointment comes from.

To distill this down to the basic form, no one has right to state their opinion unless it agrees with yours? Well, I am glad that isn't in the forum rules. Considering this is basically a forum where people come to talk about Bioware/EA games, I think this is the place to talk about them. It would be silly to go to a football forum and talk about ME 3, wouldn't it?
As for my persepective, what part of "The game play was fun" wasn't clear. Let me know. My opinion was the story was a disappointment. It is just my opinion which has gotten you so worked up. Is my opinion soooo important to you? Are saying that no one has to right to offer a different view point other than the one you agree to?
As for "This entire forum is filled with ****ing, and whining, and crying about
"broken promises", and "Bioware isn't listening", and blah, blah, blah. ," who is whining? I think it is fair that people point out comments made by a company or public figure that can be see as a promise that wasn't kept, is a good thing. I feel it helps a company or that public figure to remember what is said and try to fix it. I also find it funny that you are "whining" about people "whining".

There will be many games who are much much worse. but the expectations of those games is going to be markedly lower.

I was hoping for more interaction with the squadmates- the banter was cool, but I wanted my Shepard to interact with them instead of just listening. But still, nice to see the squadmates actually acknowledge each others' existence. I missed loyalty missions and the character-driven narrative of ME2. I loved ME2 a lot more than ME1 (I know, sacrilege) because it allowed us to get to know the crew more.
Everything once I started the final Earth mission was a letdown. I expected a battle of epic galactic proportions- something tense where my choice in war assets made a difference. I wanted a dynamic interaction with my squad, kind of like the Suicide Mission but with even more at stake. The tearful goodbyes were OK, but I didn't expect those to be the last meaningful interactions with my squadmates.
And then, the ending. I was perfectly willing to have my Shepard sacrifice herself for the greater good. I did not expect for her to go in alone and face a Starkid. I wanted it to be tense and heartbreaking, to have her sacrifice (or whatever choice she made) show their immediate consequences. I wanted it to tug at my heartstrings and make me cry (not like how the real ending made me cry).
So, yes, ME3 was a letdown for me. I thought Bioware was capable of creating an epic last battle, and provide the closure that the galaxy, my Shepard, and her friends deserved. I hope the upcoming ending DLC will fix it.
The rest of the game wasn't as much of a disappointment. I've done two playthroughs with different Shepards to see the Garrus and Kaidan romances- they were beautifully done. I'm actually starting a new Shepard to see the Liara/femshep romance. The Genophage and Rannoch priority missions were near perfect.
And, the gameplay/weapon upgrade system. I *loved* the new combat mechanics. They are great. Rolling around, jumping, running, leaping- they all flow nicely and it now feels weird replaying ME2. I also enjoyed MP (not why I got ME3, but it's still a fun add-on).

Compared to build-up in previous games and later advertisement, the actual game achieved such a huge drop that it is one of the most disappointing games this year. It's definitely not the worst, but the most disappointing.

I really did enjoy the combat. I thought weapon upgrades could have been twik a bit by combining ME 1 and ME 2 upgrades. I don't like that Cryo Ammo is a "power", I love cryo ammo. They could have made into a thermo clip of some kind. (Thermo Cryo Ammo Clip?) Anyways, the combat was the highlight of the game for me because the duck and cover moves. The depolyment of your squad being more of factor increased my enjoyment of combat.

A few things I was disappointed in were
-Side quests sucked (just eavesdropping)
-Auto-log, Auto-log everywhere
-*Insert 6 paragraph ending rant here*
-Lame excuses for some squadmates being recruited
-Lack of squadmates
-No "Loyalty" Missions (I know your crew is loyal, but a mission pertained to that squad member wouldn't hurt, IE Garrus finding his family, Liara with some SB stuff, etc.)
-Little disappointed in some of the romance (Samara for instance)
Those are just the few I can name off the top of my head =/

The ending is questionable, but the game itself is both disappointing in some area's and excellent in others.

I didn't mind the lack of loyalty missions, but they did sort of have them with trying save different home world.
