Best game I've played this year. Sorry if people didn't like the ending. I thought it was great.

Considering I don't play many games anymore and all the hype leading up to now I'd say yes personally.

Though I was more disappointed with ME2 personally, guess it helped lower the bar for me and soften the blow. heh

Mass Effect 3 is probably the best game I've ever played. It can still be the most disappointing game ever too. The end...sucked. Everything else was unfathomably awesome.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Sure the endings could have been a little more visually varied, but it was no where as bad as some made it sound - I also happen to be a big fan of endings that are open to interpretation where not everything is clear cut.

For me, definitely the most disappointing game not only of 2012, but frankly the most disappointing game I've ever played. The ending. was. that. bad.

I am still stunned that anyone at Bioware could think this ending to ME would be remotely satisfying.

Such an epic trilogy of gameplay - so many emotions and relations engendered - but with nowhere to go at the climax because the ending has zero cathartic value (the ending actually had negative cathartic value, as it forced the hero to commit genocide).

The fact that a large number of fans are grasping at straws with the Indoctrination Theory should be an embarrassment to Bioware.

It WILL probably be the game with the most disappointing ending of 2012, but I don't think it will be the most disappointing game overally of 2012.

2011's most disappointing games were Duke Nukem Forever and Dragon Age 2, and although I personally like Dragon Age 2, I'd have to be blind to see all the shortcomings of that game. And overally it's not as good as Mass Effect 3.

I AM curious of which one will end up being the most disappointing, since there will be a couple more triple-A titles coming up.

I believe it will be either Max Payne 3, Colonial Marines, or Diablo 3...
Bioshock Infinite or GTA 5 will probably be game of the year...

I doubt ME3 will be the most disappointing game of the year. I really just don't see it.

But I can say that it will be the game this year to have disappointed me the most.

You never know. But I do feel like they lost a big chance at winning GOTY title.

the game overal was great i enjoyed the new moves in combat, loved the story, SPOILERS AHEAD:
when i made peace between geth and the quarians, and cured the genophage i felt like wow this is one awsome game and i couldnt wait to finish it to see how it would be a peacefull and beautyfull galaxy and then i reached the god child i was like i cant belive i paid 50 euros for this (i live in europe), so yeah the ending dissapointed me pretty bad but they annaunced that extended cut dlc so i say give that a chance first and if it still sucks then we protest, dont buy any EA titles for a few years and show them what happens when you anger the fans xD

Yes and no. I loved everything up to the earth mission, which I thought was bit dissapointing. I had hoped to see some of my war assets in action and they were a no show. Then the ending happened and it all fell apart. I regret having bought the collector's edition.

This thread should be made at the end of the year when all the games are out, not right at the beginning.

I didn't think ME3 will be the biggest dissapointment of 2012. I didn't think it was as good as the previous two, but I loved it nonetheless, and thats despite the ending.

I expected too much, so yeah, big disappointment. Like an emotional roller-coaster that ended in a catastrophe.

Parts of the game were brilliant though, and I appreciate the difficulty in creating something like this.

It's just a damn shame it had to end the way it did. A damn shame.

Disappointment does not always equal how bad a game is. ME3 is pretty good, but looking back at all the promises and advertisements - it pretty much betrayed all of them. There is no "Take Earth back", there are no "vastly different endings", the day one DLC, the white robot dog that does nothing (collectors edition), less personal time with your crewmembers/friends (mostly they just tell you something as a comment, not in a real dialogue, the less choices we can make (not that they really mattered anyway), Tali's face reveal, LI for the femshep from ME2... and and and.

ME3 was supposed to live up to all this, and it failed pretty much. I'd say that's some quite high level of disappointment in my eyes. I don't think this year...and maybe the next years will have a game that disappoints on an equally high level.

Bioshock Infinite is the only game coming out this year that has the potential to usurp Mass Effect 3 in the disappointment category. Nothing else has the same level of expectation.

So far yes. and for me personally, the most disappointing game of the last 10 years. that said there's still a lot of year to go. and I'm just one fan. (who mostly just plays ME)

I would say yes.

While there will be other games that will be far worse, after all we're not even halfway through the year...

this was probably one of the biggest let downs since the Star Wars prequels.  The expectations and hype for Mass Effect 3 has amplified the reaction to the ending that much.

99% of the game was great... the two games before it were amazing... the ending was horrible.

There will be other games that are 100% bad, instead of 1% bad... but the success of ME1 and ME2, and even the good parts of ME3 itself, are what make the ending to ME3 so starkly dissapointing... far more so than any stand alone game that anyone else can make, no matter how bad it is.

considering there is no other game coming out this year that I was looking forward to as much as this one, there is no other game that i will find more disappointing than ME3.

that doesn't mean there won't be worse games out there, im sure there will be.  games are a dime a dozen now and most suck.

but i simply don't care about those games... i cared about Mass Effect 3, and what I got was not what I was hoping for in the end.
