So I've been looking for ages on how to make a custom base material type like Dragonbone, Iron etc... so that when I make a new custom item the speed, dmg, range etc.. can be altered w/out effecting say all dragonbone based greatswords So far I can only create materials with custom names, but they still point to the any of the orignal materials. For example, I can make a Greatsword with material type named "MyCustomMat" but it will still have all the properites of Dragonbone or Silverite etc... Anyone know how I can create a custom material or can point me to a tutorial on this? Thanks

Yeah, I've tried to mess around with it, but to no avail. I'm thinking there's something about the strreference codes and soundmat_type maybe or a another file I have to edit if not, but I can't figure it out. If anyone has made a new custom material type w/out replacing exisitng materials for an item please do share!

Try editing the materialrules.gda and the ts_material.gda as well. I believe the materialrules.gda sets the base stats to be used by the armor/shield/weapon types listed in the materialtypes.gda, and from what I've read you have to add a reference in the ts_material file to make it show up as a valid material type.

A little update. Editing all 3 files has gotten me to the point where the new material type will show up in the MaterialProgression field but not the MaterialType field. When I can figure out how to correct this I'll post it up.
