I just got DAO for my PC, because I loved it for on my console. Problem is every couple times there is a battle my game shuts down. It wasn't doing this in the beginning and I'm not sure why it's doing it now.
My computer is new, but it may be possible something is wrong with it.
Anyone experience the same thing that has resolved this problem?

People here might be able to help, but you'll need to give us more info. Please refer to the "Read First" post pinned towards the top of the forum and provide us information on your computer, etc.

Thanks,

RI

EDIT:  Please also include if you're using any third-party mods with the game.

I will add my problem to this thread. I read the tech help stuff but none of that seems to be causing my problem. I downloaded DAO from Steam and I'm using no 3rd party mods. I am crashing in the fade at the same fight every time.

Here are my specs:

Intel core i7-2600, 16GB mem, NVIDIA GeForce GTX550T with 1GB ram, windows 7 home premimum, directx11.

If anything else is required I'll gladly look it up. I'm kinda stuck now since I can't get the golem form :(

Edited to include the message I'm getting: Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working.

Then it goes to desktop.

The standard response from me is roll back GPU drivers or update them, update your C++ runtimes and DirectX. If that does not work try fresh install making sure deleted all files and folders relating to the game outside of making back up copy of your save games (putting them somewhere safe then placing them back once reinstalled). I once had a single file that kept causing crashes in another game from Bioware, had to manually delete it then reinstall for game to work (uninstaller did not remove it). If it is always crashing in the same spot then would appear to me to be a software not hardware issue, generally I tend to assume driver issue but failing that ends up mostly being windows system or game installation issue. Anyways not sure what to suggest outside of those. I do not own Windows 7 so not sure how it might cause the issue (compatibility) or resolve it.

Thank you for the response! For whatever reason, after crashing 5 times I gave up. I left for a few hours, came home and decided to try it again and it finally let me make it through that fight and I was able to play without anymore crashes (*knock on wood*!).

Three cheers for miracle cures, right? :)

I wonder if it could have been either a software issue, like a background service, or maybe a hardware issue, like overheating. If you have further questions, let us know.
