I thought Forbes were the good guys in all this.

Guess it's us against all the internets now. They're still going to lose but they can keep coming at us.

They're simply reporting on what someone said who works in the Tech industry. They're not putting it down as their opinion, total difference.

This. Forbes is still a great source of unbiased reporting. They are reporting the (IMO childish) words of someone who disagrees with us, and that's it.

As for Michael Pachter, he's a videogame analyst for Wedbush Securities, which is an investment firm. That is, they pick stocks for people.

Maybe he's just trying to make EA look like a smarter investment, given the state of their stocks. /tinfoil hat

This. I honestly don't understand what's so special about Pachter, every time I see him comment on something he has no clue of what he's talking about.

I know retake do not want to hear this, but he is probably right when he says that it's about 1% of total customers that are vocally protesting and 10% of customers that were not fully satisfied.

I mean, he is an analyst, and the maths does work out to show the people who will refuse to buy Bioware again as a very very small minority. Something like 80k out of 2.9 million or something.

Retake is little more than a drop in the ocean for Bioware. And the controversy seems to have raised sales, not dropped them.

Actually, Michael Pachter doesn't work for Forbes. He's an "ambassador" of sorts for a marketing/shareholding firm, of which EA is a primary client. There was a big shareholder conference earlier this year, and Pachter was the guy who introduced the CEO of EA during the conference and said great big things about him being a smart dude.

I'd ignore what he's got to say as a fan. He's just trying to protect his assets.

I don't agree with Pachter (he's a games market analyst, obviously he's on the side of the companies) but his arguments are solid.

I'm upset with the ending, but I have to agree with him. Anyone unemployed these last couple of years should be far more pissed of at BoA than at EA or BW, hands down. Maybe we're mad because we're unemployed and the only thing we had to look forward to was ME3 :P

P.S., just kidding, I actually do have a job, but I was unemployed for about 2 months.

He's a biased analyst, his statistics are made up and mean nothing.

LOL at the comment that Hollywood never changes movies after the fact.

I'm sure little shop of horrors didn't change its ending, or any movie for that matter. No, all those director cuts and alternate endings don't exist.

hahaha Bladerunner, Alien 3, Star Wars original movies, Close Encounters of the Third Kind Director's Cut, these are all movies that were changed in part from fan opinion and to further perserve the real Artistic Integrity of the films. IN other words..they changed them to GET RID of plot holes..not add them.

It's actually very refreshing reading game-related articles from non-gaming outlets.

Forbes doesn't rely on the game publishers for advertising dollars like IGN, Gamespot, etc., and it shows.

The Forbes writer was just writing an article about what Micheal Pachter said. Not that he agrees with Pachter.

Yeah, it really paints video gamers in a bad light. There's so much wrong in the world and yet the worst company is one that makes video games?! It shows you how out of wack the priority of some people are and how sheltered their lives are. They're all living in their own internet bubble.

If you look at it from the perspective from a person who doesn't play video games, maybe someone who's pushing for social, political or environmental reform, EA being voted the worst company does not make sense. There are way more important issues right now than the ending of a game.

I really wish clueless hacks would stop comparing games to movies....

When a movie stops and asks the viewer if they would like to kill off jar jar binks then we can talk.

He know a lot of videogames.
.
And it's funny how "retakers" seem to consider everyone that disagree with them either idiot or on EA payrolls.

Just reposting this so people know who Pachter is. Maybe TC should put this in the original post?

“EA handled it fine,” said Pachter. “They treated their customers with respect, addressed the situation directly and promptly, and are offering free DLC to satisfy those who hated the ending. I shudder to think what will happen if gamers don’t like the new ending choices.”

He thinks we're getting a new ending.

Look, Pachter  clearly isn't following this too closely and seems to associate the whole thing with that FTC dude.  I wouldn't give it too much credence.

This, and because the gaming industry is just as corrupt at it's heart as any other capitalistic large corporation business. The only way to keep these businesses honest is for their customers to call them out on their BS. I"m personally glad this industry is finally getting this kind of attention.

I dont like that Michael Pachter guy. He always seemed like he knew everything and came across with an elitist attitude like he was better than us or something. Yeah I can make predictions and stuff too you know. What makes yours so great huh? The only person I do not like that shares the same name as me.

Your surname's Pachter? Or are you saying you like Michael.... Bay?

It would be nice if pricks, I don't even know, stop calling me a whiny fan. I'm a customer, I'm complaining about a falsely advertised product.

He probably had money invested in EA and is raging because it has lost value since ME3 was released.

“As far as I can tell, it was a vocal minority of several thousand, but
given that the game shipped 3.5 million units and likely sold through
2.8 million, I can’t believe that the backlash comprised more than 10
percent of consumers, and think it’s more likely closer to 1 percent,”
said Pachter.

Pachter should see how many people voted for EA over BoA. Also he should think about committing suicide because we don't need videogame analysts like him.

Do some people seriously think ME3 is the only reason EA was voted the worst company in America?

I would highly doubt ME3 fan votes are the main contributing factor.
