Also, assuming everyone important on the Citadel survived is already a "change" from Walters' "most died" tweet, even though it can be construed as a clarification. If basically everything gets clarified into a positive outcome this Extended Cut could indeed do the job.

Out of everything Mac has done, that was the one thing I didn't like. I'm happy to see that a twitter post could be removed now from "canon".

Seems to me like half of the dev team didn't like the game they were forced to make if you read between the lines.

I still won't be fully satisfied with the RGB options that were clearly artificially/arbitrarily weighted by 'moral dilemmas' (they REALLY need to at least add another option on top of the three), but it looks like they're at least coming around to at least admitting to themselves that the way they currently have the endings is too ambiguous and simply not well constructed (caused by EA being pricks with deadlines/funding in my personal opinion).

If anyone can pull it from the fire it's this guy though...Tuchunka was amazing.

on the one hand some of that stuff sounds good but on the other i just think, how the hell could they release the game and just assume we would know the difference between an relay overloading and rupturing... seriously!

Yes.

But I have hope for the extended cut IF Weekes is working on it. I just hope they remove Starchild.

My takeaway was: the epilogue DLC is probably going to do a lot of good and be pretty well written, and Patrick Weekes should've been lead writer on ME3.

Quoted for truth.  If there's one thing that gives me hope for this, it's the idea that they're going to involve the whole writing staff in this Extended Edition ending, and not just leave it up to Casey and Mac like they did with the original.  (Deny it all they want, I'm still firmly convinced that deleted Penny Arcade quote was 100% true.)

Quoted for double truth...and agree.

The fact that if he took control of old harby he'd make him ram into a cliff face makes me laugh.

Mr. Weekes. You're a good man.

Looks like it but if this guy is involved in fixing it....I have more hope

If Weekes sticks around for ME4 (if ME4 ever even happens,) he must be the lead writer.

I think that could be the only thing that would bring me back. Weekes is a damn talented storyteller who knows just what he's doing, and I'd hang around for anything he has to write at this moment in time. But only if he's the lead writer. It's obvious the guy's got some great ideas flying around in his head.

Once more for triiple truth...and abundantly agree.  Here's to hoping that Hudson tones down his massive ego.

This actually makes sense. Here we have it people: Reassuring words from Bioware. One developer treating a fan like an adult on equal terms.

If Bioware handled the entire calamity like this, I'd me a lot less upset.

If it's really from him...

I really don't understand why there are not more casual dev-chats or blogs made by BioWare. Not saying that this is the same thing, as it is not direct quotes, but honest comments without the PR speak can be so refreshing.

Say what you will about Eve Online and their development process, they seem to go out of their way to have fairly direct contact with fans (even if half of them hate their decisions.)

I sure hope, OP, that you didn't just make all this up. Because I like what I read, and would be upset to see the Extended Cut go far from this

Thanks for posting this! It really seems like they're currently scrambling to come up with answers to explain all the plotholes. Not that this wasn't clear from the endings already. Surprised to see confirmation regarding EDI surviving. If she survives, then I don't see how they would explain the geth didn't survive. EDI was just as much, if not more, based on Reaper tech.

Maybe mr Weekes will start his own retake Mass Effect 3 within Bioware and actually CHANGE the endings.

Hmm, just had a thought: is Patrick on Twitter? I wonder if somebody could tweet the link to this thread to him and have him confirm whether or not this is legit. Although it's possible he may have to deny it just because it's too early to talk about it, it'd be nice to know we aren't all getting worked up over a troll.

If this is true. First, I kind of love you Patrick Weekes. If that makes you feel awkward, I apologize.

I hope this means we get Harbinger dialogue!! I really want Harbinger dialogue!

He didn't mention synthesis unfortunately. Get the feeling that nobody thought synthesis made any sense.

Galactic civilization will rebuild. The mass relays were not necessary for interstellar flight. Remember, what does it say in the Codex about the speed of ships? That's right, 12 lightyears per (day? hour? minute?). And that's only the cruising speed, not the maximum speed.

I believe it also says in the codex that without mass relays, it takes years, decades or even centuries to get to other clusters, depending on where you want to go.
With all due respect, sir, read your own codex.

People have never needed to research basic FTL improvements before because they have mass relays. With the relays gone, new technology will increase that speed. Additionally, the element zero cores of the dead/controlled Reapers can be used to improve FTL drives.

So I was right, the dead Reapers aren't fried.
Indoctrination for everybody! \\o/

Joker would never abandon Shep without a good reason. Hopefully this will be clear in the Expanded Cut.

Joker would never abandon Shepard. Period.

Yes. We would never, ever do anything that made the player feel, on replay, that it would be better for everyone on the Citadel if they just died.

That's exactly what you did.

The Citadel has emergency shelters and kinetic barriers - even if it blows up, millions might survive.

Did... did they all just forget where the Citadel was at that point? Low Earth orbit? Ring any bells? No?

You should assume that everyone plot-important on the Citadel survived.

No. I should not "assume". You show me. That's your job.

We want to provide a familiar, compelling visual experience for people who grew up on Star Wars and stuff like that. These are some of our favorite parts of the game.

No wait, really.....

 <= OP here.
This was NOT me. The contents of the OP was taken DIRECTLY from a post on Something Awful forums in their ME3 spoiler thread.

ps. Yea. looks like the Something Awful guys HATED the idiots asking questions during the panel as much as we did.
