Just funny how many resources are spent on Kinect, Multiplayer and PS3 ports. That's why this game is terrible.

Making a ps3 version is why the game is terrible? Get out.

If anything, by opening the series to ps3 they have increased their profits which thus increases their budget. Hence why multiplatform games have bigger budgets

i was severly disapointed with the ending as well, this has given me hope that my favorite game series of all time doesnt devolve into epic garbage at the end. thank you.. CAUTIOUSLY optimistic.

as an aside, am i the only one who thought the only point of the stargazer scene was "dlc on the way, buy it for more stories of The Shepard!". felt very tacked on and the voice acting was just absolutely atrocious.

Yes, I took it as a DLC ad, but the voice was Buzz Aldrin, although I did not realize that until later.  Using Buzz Aldrin for a crass advertisement is just wrong on so many levels.  The Stargazer scene was actually what jolted me from my initial state of shock (I had kept myself unspoiled through the ending), enkindling the deep sense that something was horrifically wrong.

I really wish Weekes had been the lead writer on this project from day one.

You mean for ME3? Weekes should have been at least a co-lead writer on ME3, working with Walters.

One of the big brains behind the whole Mass Effect story and universe is actually Drew Karpyshyn. After a very successful career in the gaming industry, he retired from BioWare and game writing last year to focus on his novels. That made big news: www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/02/bioware-writer-retires/

MY HUMBLE BIG ADVICE TO BIOWARE,
for the extended cut DLC, get the full writing team involved (which includes Weekes) and consult Karpyshyn.

Well gee, clearly empty and insultingly meaningless PR stall-tactics, lies, and misdirection infuriated us to record levels, but speaking with honesty and integrity to us actually made us calm down and become more open to the idea of continuing to support the company. Who could have guessed that consumers were also rational, thinking human beings? Not the PR department, that's for sure.

Information like this (about mass relays not go supernova) should be in game. If it's not in game, it's just speculations all over again.
Oh is there a new trend? After finishing the game we must go on twitter to find out what the hell just happened? If you have to explain joke it's bad joke.
And bioware put on the front line the best writer. Wise move.
Still do not have any hope for DLC. New video from Angry Joe sum up my feelings about it quite well. I wish I could hope, but I don't want to be trolled again, it's painful.

Then why does StarKid tell Shepard that he won't survive because he is partly synthetic?

It's a lie in an attempt to keep Shepard from choosing destroy, the catalyst is hoping Shepards emotional feelings towards EDI, Geth and his own life will prevent him selecting destroy.

Weekes was not one of the sitters at the panel actually. pretty sure i've heard he was one of the guys standing behind the panel itself.

this 'interview' was a conversation he had with a fan who happened to share/post it on his own forum (something awful), which I've ported here.

This interview from Weekes was by no means some 'calculated' PR move. If anything I'd imagine he might even get scolded at by the PR guys when he flies back to HQ in maple-leaf /fake-bacon land afte rPax.

More development time for conversion, testing, debugging... it does add on to overall workload and scope

I love it...from the stacks of bodies on the citadel, we were supposed to "interpret" that everyone important survived. We were also supposed to interpret those supernova explosions when the mass relays exploded, that could be seen from far outside the galaxy as the cut scene shows, didn't really kill anyone - even though the most advanced ship in the galaxy, when racing away at top speed gets trashed.

Yeah, this is clearly our lack of imagination at work...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they didn't fill in the blanks and it's their fault that we filled them in in the worst possible way.

Tell us why the wave knocks an admittedly-small-yet-definitely-powerful ship out of commission. Show us a wave that looks nothing like the Arrival wave. Hell, REMEMBER THAT LINE and hand wave it  IN THE SCENE. They had their chance to tell us why this is a happy ending, and they totally dropped the ball.

So as a result, the entire DLC ending will be explaining why there's No Endor Holocaust. Instead of them telling us in the first place. I guarantee you, if they explained the wave as an EMP and the relays as 'breaking up instead of exploding' ... possibly with different animations, I haven't even seen them yet admittedly... there would barely even BE a RetakeME3 movement. We'd be 'oh? ... okay. Still a good game' like we were at DA2.

Man...this Patrick Weekes guy...just...hand him the keys to the car, Bioware.

Pay for Casey and Mac to take a long vacation, somewhere tropical. Tell them it's been years since they just sat down, and that they've earned a rest. Give them a bottle of Tequila Se'Lai, and some emergency induction ports, and tell them to drink until they pass out on the floor of their cabanas, Ashley-style.

Then unleash the Weekes on the Extended Cut. We will all thank you for it.

I havent read the whole thread yet, but I am curious.

Assuming the added ending DLC makes me want to play through the game again, will they fix the bug in Ken and Gabby's dialogue?

After reading all that I have to say that I have become cautiously optimistic about this extended cut thing. Really hope they fix the bug with Gabby & Ken as well. Was happy to see them back but rather surprised by the lack of chatter from them (Ash has never survived my games and never will.)

I'd pay 2 million credits to turn on the sprinklers while they're passed out on the floor :o

I'm sure it's an easier bug to fix, considering they're currently fixing the face import bug. And that one is a doozy.

Blu Ray disk holds a lot more content than xboxs dvds.... so imagine if Mass Effect started on PS3 (more content and better graphics).

And I'm sure microsoft payed off Bioware/EA for that "Mass Effect better with kinect" bull****.

As I wrote above, if BioWare really wants to get it right this time, they have to get their full writing team involved and not just Mr. X and Mr. Y.
They should also make the choices matter in this extended cut DLC, otherwise the whole game series will have next to zero replay value.
And they should perhaps even consult their ex-lead-writer, Drew Karpyshyn, who was the lead writer on ME1 and co-lead on ME2. Drew recently retired from game writing. Bring him out of retirement for just that one special occasion.

May be. But from what i see, outcome is quite good. More fans are willing to give bioware a chance with Extended Cut and it's good unofficial to whisper "yes, game was rushed, sorry about that". I admit, may be Patrick Have not any PR intensions, but any statements from bioware or bioware employee should be taken with.. how he says it?... with a grain of salt.
BTW, i love Patrick. He wrote Garrus romance after all))

Agreed, this is far more honest and forthright than anything "official" we normally get.  It's refreshing, really.

Patrick Weekes is one of the best writers, but I don't think he wrote Garrus. He's however written other great characters such as Mordin, Tali, Traynor, Joker... For more details: www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx
