Seriously. Bioware has done something totally unprecedented in changing (or at least expanding/modifying) the ending

I'm sorry but WHAT.  Obvious and overused example : FALLOUT 3 ...

You sir / madam have now been taught that just because a news outlet says something does - not - mean - it - is - true.

Hahahaha, seriously? The Extended Cut is totally different from Broken Steel. Broken Steel was just the game going "Hey remember when we said you died? Kidding! Have fun playing the rest of the game!". Furthermore, Broken Steel didn't have NEARLY the kind of demand that ME3 did. Broken steel was released months after Fallout 3 shipped; Bethesda didn't literally drop everything to make it to please their fans. Furthermore, the problem (if there was one, I actually liked the ending of Fallout 3 sans Broken Steel) was just that the game stopped, not that there were serious logical flaws and thematic conflicts. It was just that you couldn't play the game anymore.

The speed with which the Retake movement grew, the fact that the extended cut is going to be more than just a series of cue cards with some text slapped on them, and the willingness to engage in a dialogue with the fans about the ending are all unprecedented. To say otherwise is just plain silly.

Rob would you just shut up. You're just making things worse. Mr. Gamble, we care about Mass Effect. We're here to discuss and try and help you understand why we're upset. Don't let a troll push you away.

Right, because a guy who is fighting for his consumer rights after being blatantly lied to is a troll.

Seems legit. Well, I'm out of this thread. Weekes did a freaking wonderful thing, and now we have people overseeing that and turing this into a "BIOWARE BE LISTENING NOW!" thread.

No, they are not listening, what Weekes did was on his own volition.

Actually, all that is being asked of you is to treat these guys with respect - something missing from the movement in general. I am not a fan of corporations like EA, but Gamble is not EA. He is a gameplay designer who worked hard on this game and is helping to go back and change it for us.

Just throwing that out there...

And if I didn't "appreciate" your content, I wouldn't be fighting so hard for the franchise.

It's like you don't want BioWare to speak with us. A dozen threads asking BioWare questions, and when the developers begin to answer, you berate them and the game they made for you. Despicable, IMO, as it drives the developers away and actually furthers the cause of us getting answers to our questions from them.

Wow really?

Do I even need to point out that this wasn't the product I paid for? Excuse me for not tiptoeing around EA and Bioware's circular logic.

Right, and you are totally going to show how to make a better product with a BioWare troll face image. Don't hide behind the "customer" excuse.

Better than hiding behind the "Artisitc Integrity" excuse.

I hate that excuse as much as you, but showing a developer troll pictures and being a jerk to him is not gonna help the situation. Just saying.

I don't know what other confirmation you could ask for. In no way is it accurate, Weekes said that himself, but it's still the best PR piece concerning bioware.
Done by a fan, answers given by a man in the writing team, no pr people in sight.
Paints a pretty clear picture what is the other issue bioware is having besides the ending.

You know, most of us in game development would love to have all the time in the world to make our games

Perhaps you should apply for a job at Blizzard. They seem at least capable of taking the time until everything is solid and refined instead of pushing your limits just because EA has to please some stakeholders.

Blizzard is Blizzard. They have ridiculous amounts of money (though they did have some layoffs recently; TOR apparently put an actual dent in their WoW money, which hardly ever happens). Great place to work, by all accounts, by the way. If you live around Irvine, they're always looking for testers there.

But yeah, Blizzard gets to take infinite time to do everything they want because they have functionally infinite money and don't usually have anyone else looking over their shoulders. It's not so much a matter of having more passion or skill than other devs, just more power and independence.

I would love to see what epicness Bioware could accomplish with "power and independence".  Just thinking about it makes me hot and bothered.  Seriously, game of the decade material right there.

Seriously, these guys are working their butts off to make something we demanded (and then got) and people are treating them like crap. It's sickening.

And the claim of "it's just a couple people, everyone else is civil!"; uhhh, like half of the posts on the forum are people being openly hostile towards Bioware, in increasingly awful ways.

Agree, allows him to leave by blaming a very small minority without having to answer any questions.

Good grief, I'm quoting someone with one of those banners... (tongue in cheek, don't kill me)

Everyone needs to knock it off. Everyone who has posted in the past few pages. Just knock it off.

Insinuations on both sides are driving the fanbase apart from the developers. We need to stop it, and stop it now.

If people could just drop their petty arguments a little than maybe there woudln't be a disagreement.

Pretty hard to see eye to eye when one side wants to talk to the guy and the other wants to just rage somemore.

It feels like the individual mandate trials here, where outside the courts one side was arguing that the mandate was nessicary to save money and ensure health providers didn't deny services anymore, and the other side just kepts screaming about freedom and down with communism.

there's no way to reconcile that.

As for some of this specifics of the questions...

Of course joker wouldn't abandon Shepard for no reason, and yes - let's not underestimate FTL here :) let's also not forget about quantum communication...or the incredible store of food rations that the Normandy has.

Cmon - give us some time with the DLC, and let's try to avoid hatin' on Patrick or Jessica:P

You guys need a Union, or something to raise working conditions. I've heard that it can be a very stressful occupation.

Anyway take all the time you need. Quality over quantity has always been my preference.

Dude please remove their nuts from your mouth. They are working like all of us do to get paid, because there was a massive backlash towards one of their products. They are not doing this out of respect to us, or because they actually care, they are doing it so they do not feel the repercussions through loss of profit. The large amount of demand was for a new ending, not an extended clarification, regardless of whether or not you think they shouldn't have to change the ending.

(In calm and respectable voice)  Sorry.

(In satiracle voice)  Sorry

(In WTF voice)  You stated it was an unprecidented even for a dev to CHANGE / EXPAND on the ending.  You never once mentioned the speed at which it happened, the demand for it, ETC.  And I gave an example where it has happened.

(In calm voice again) Next time please elaborate your side so one does not take what you gave at face value and disprove it   (Like what happened with ME3's endings)

I wonder if this is how Shepard felt trying to unite the Krogans/Turians/Salarians and the Geth/Quarians.

Sorry had to comment. Quality over quantity...would apply to this case if the quality of the endings was better than the supposed 16 endings we were promised.

That is clearly not the case.
