I don't get it every time, but I do get it about 50% of the time. The game (I think) tries to access your profile stored on the Bioware servers, the one that shows your characters and pictures of your adventures. If it can't access them after a short while it informs you and carries on regardless.

There are two likely explanations. 1) there is a problem with your internet connection, either it is not working (or switched off) or your firewall is getting in the way. 2) the servers at Biowares end are not working/overloaded.

As I get it some of the time I suspect in my case it is the latter. In your cases I would first look at your internet connection to see if that is causing the problem. Alternatively you can just switch the online updating off in the options.

I get it a lot too. Yeah, it is probably a problem with server overload.

I think it's due to server overload... I have no problem in my internet connection.. Maybe it is the reason for delayed update of char info..

Does anyone know which port and to which adress the game tries to connect to? If this is a firewall-rpobelm it would be good to know in order to open up the correct port/adress combination for it to work again...

I'm pretty sure it's not a firewall problem.

Never got this message.

Never bother to log into the game in the first place, anyway.

Dumbest post ever -_-
Then why do you feel the need to answer. Your "never got the message" doesn't add anything. You'll never get it if you never login.

Happened to me a few times over the last few days normally if I reload again it doesn't come back. I guess their server has been having trouble and the game talks to the server.

It mainly happens to me when I try to manually upload a screenshot. The game can upload the story screenshots just fine, but when I try to upload my own, I get the time out error. :(

I dislike the hassles of the entire "logged in" & "logged out" process and accessible specialty items hinging upon it. IMOHO logging in should only be when you personally choose to upload new screen shots and update your profile. Sure there are work around solutions, but many people lack the tenacity and knowledge to do so.

There are still significant numbers of paying customers who are on DialUp, Wireless and in my own case, Satellite Internet providers. Weather can prevent some of us from maintaining a connection and some folks are pushing the limited ****** on satellite and wireless.

We may be approaching 2010, but unlimited bandwidth is still a dream for many of us.

Dunno if it helps, but from here:

You must unblock ports 80 (TCP/UDP), 8000 (TCP), 8001 (UDP), 443 (TCP), and 18081 (TCP) for the game to even recognize you are online and let you connect up.

Does any one here have a problem with viewing screenshots in-game?

Same problem here as OP's issue.

I'm also getting a message when I click the top option in the main menu to start the most recent save ("Recent" or something). A message pops up saying the person with the account that has the DLC for this save must be logged in (or something like that) and it lists the DLC attached to the save game.

Is that happening to anyone else?

I'm also getting this problem, firewall has been disabled, all of the ports mentioned above are open. Anybody have a solution to this?

I get it, too, mostly lately, but since I don't rely on online content for anything, I never notice if it's working or not.

Kept getting this message myself. No idea what the cause is. Normally I'd just quit game and restart, usually gets fixed that way.. after 2-3 attempts.
