Sound Effects for Mass Effect?

I can't believe I cannot find anything using google or this forum's search feature for the cool sounds that are in the Mass Effect universe. Was thinking of whipping up a nice Windows/Cell phone sound theme but my lack of actually having the games on the pc and recording software hinders that ability. I have all my games on the Xbox. Anyone know a site that has some of the sound effects? I'm looking for the Biotic ability sounds especially but all of them would be nice.

Thanks for any help that is posted!

This. I don't own the games on PC (got them on xbox) so can't extract the files myself, would be good to have a library uploaded somewhere with all the sound effects if possible. Would be incredibly useful for me and others.

Unfortunately, publicly sharing these sounds, as well as anything else extracted from the games, is not legal. That's why it is so hard to find. You will either have to join a modding community where someone can help you, or get the PC version and extract the sounds yourself.

Why though? I can find tons of other games that have their sound effects available to the public. For example, Portal 2 has a whole page of sounds that is nicely laid out for you to figure out which ones you want. My wife made an awesome theme using the GLaDoS voice for her phone. I thought I would make a cooler one with Mass Effect sounds. Guess not...

Tell you what... I'll have a word with some of our people, see if we can put something out for people that want to have cell phone rings, etc. Absolutely can't promise anything, but it's worth me asking.

Any idea what people would like to have? Specifically, what content, in what format and for what purpose.

Thanks

And gotta say, that's the sort of attitude that got me into Bioware

Wow thanks for the response Rob. As I stated earlier, I'm looking for some of the combat effects of the biotic attacks, like Push, Lift, Singularity (which all sound kind of the same if I remember correctly). Some of the Tech ones too, like Overload and Sabotage are cool. But heck, I'll take anything cool. It's mostly just for themes on my PC and cell phone.

Rob, if we could get a "ringtone" or sound effects pack (in addition to more soundtracks!) that'd be phenomenal. If anyone needs justification, just show them the shut-up-and-take-my-money levels of interest in the excellent sound and music design of ME3.

I'd want to see a few different types of sounds:

* User interface sounds: power upgrade sound, "press start" menu sound, galaxy map user interface sounds, power wheel enter/exit sounds, etc. I'll also take this moment to beg for a "Level Up" sound from the original Mass Effect.
* Enemy sounds: a Banshee scream, Marauder cyber-chatter, Geth chatter, Cerberus "damn it!" (:-P), etc.
* Power activation sounds: Singularity, Slam, Nova, Charge, Reave, etc. etc. etc…so good.
* Weapon sounds: while potentially difficult to adapt for a short sound effect/ringtone, guns sound really, really good in ME3. Also, turret fire sounds, stun baton activation sound, omniblade activation sounds(!!!), grenade sound, Bonus if you include a mix of the gun sound effects from the part at the end of Rannoch.
* Reaper sounds: the awesome laser sound, a reaper "cry", etc.
* Character dialog: EDI's "that was a joke", some Joker one-liners, "Hackett out", Garrus's "calibrations" line, James's "holy ****" one-liner, etc. Bonus: Matriarch Aethya and Aria T'Loak one-liners.
* Miscellaneous: the "foghorn sunrise" sound, used in Mass Effect trailers.

Also, please consider releasing some of the shorter musical loops as ringtones, like the looping menu music, etc. Thanks for your time, Rob.

Banshee screaming as a ringtone/alert sound.  It'd certainly get MY attention. :P

While I'd be hard-pressed to replace my current "Picard Song" ringtone that makes everyone nearby look...

1) Traynor's VO of the "you have a new message" would be alright for when I get a text.
2) Any of the "theme" songs would be ok for phone's alarm (or ringtone). Off the top of my head, thinking of the one that plays at the Galaxy Map (since it repeats smoothly), though I'm sure there are quite a few others that would be nice as well. Some of the soundtracks like "Leaving Earth" and "An End, Once and For All" would obviously be cool, though it's easy enough to convert the wavs from the DDE. Then again, a snippet that flows well on repeat may be better.

mp3 would be the desired format, though .wav is probably more universal. Could probably go mono + low bitrate if people are just using them for ringtones and stuff.

Also, regarding formats: .M4R files for iPhones/iPads, .M4A files for Android phones, and .WAV files for every other device under the sun would be stellar.

I think the "Level up" sound from Mass Effect 1 would be a great text message sound effect or maybe ringtone. I used to love hearing that sound when I leveled up and it would be cool to have on ma phone :)

And perhaps Shepards " you stupid jellyfish" might be cool too LoL
EDIs "Probe launched" from Mass Effect 2
EDIs "Reapers evaded" from Mass Effect 3 or her "I found something"

Mass Effect Sounds?

Well that obviously needs to be Liara's "I love you, Shepard".

There are no more beautiful sounds in the game.
