I wouldn't say that the dungeons were to long. Deep Roads were a bit boring personally at least till you got closer to the Anvil.

What I miss is more dungeons of that size. I really miss the big optional zones that you had in say Baldurs Gate series. Though I'm pessimistic if I'll ever see a game of that size unless it's a subscription based MMO which is kinda sad ;/

Would have appreciated a larger, longer Deep Roads. Those things are supposed to be crawling with Darkspawn, and you're supposed to be trying to blitz through weakly defended areas fast so that reinforcements don't show up.

That way, you have to figure out how to break through, which way to take, and you have to continually run gauntlets, conserving your resources, until you finally break through strong enough to take on the Anvil.

Hm, I don't mind the long dungeon crawls. Would've been fun if there were some puzzles though, not just run around killing stuff.

I agree. Even the RPG-part of the game gets dwarved by the incessant amount of hacking.

The Haven temple was the only thing in the game I have found really, really tiring. Not just the length, but the monotony, and that the enemies you're going up against aren't particularly difficult, just irritating.

The Deep Roads were fine, except for the Dead Trenches. It really should have been broken into two maps. It was so irritating getting 3/4ths of the way through, realizing my inventory was full, then walking all the way back to the entrance, back to Orzammar to sell loot, and then walking back again.

maybe its just me, but the some of the dungeons are just way too long. like finding the ashes of andraste, or the tunnels in orzammar. i spent roughly 5 hours on each of them. I was wrecked by the end of it, it was so boring. im more used to the dungeon sized of say, Kotor or mass effect.

Yeah see I wish they were longer.  I also sort of wish there were optional dungeons like in BG and BG2.  Oh well.

Yes i think it was more the lack of inventory space that made it feel like it was long. it's like bender and the cyclop planet. you can't simply fit it all and it's distracting to back track to find a merchant to sell it to.

I also wish that there was a break between the Dragon Lair and the Urn of the Sacred Ashes, right before you meet the High Dragon. It's a really incredibly long walk back to camp to sell items and possibly switch out characters.

Honestly, I didn't think that they were all that bad. During my first playthrough, it took me about three hours to complete The Fade, but that was no fault of the game. I was being quite stupid with the way in which I was hopping around islands, and, as a result, it took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do.

By the time I started to play with my second character, dungeons actually seemed a little shorter.

There's a shortcut - you come out practically at the entrance to the Temple.

the dungeon crawling is pretty good actually, they just need more moments like when you fought the dragon in Andrastes temple. More 1 on 4 fights would be nice. Minibosses and bosses. I got sick of facing the same squad of weak fighters with 1 or two mages about a third of the way through the game.

I'm gonna guess you haven't played the original Baldur's Gate? As good and innovative a game as it was at the time, I hated the fact that it would take about an hour to clear each of the outdoor maps. And you had to do this because each map had a few hidden easter eggs. Pixel hunting at its worst!

I'm glad it's not Oblivion. The Deep Roads would be pitch black from start to finish.

Besides, there's nothing compelling you to carry on and kill more people and fill up your inventory (Except at the Mage Tower...), you can take a break to go back and sell things.
