What I miss is more dungeons of that size. I really miss the big optional zones that you had in say Baldurs Gate series. Though I'm pessimistic if I'll ever see a game of that size unless it's a subscription based MMO which is kinda sad ;/

That way, you have to figure out how to break through, which way to take, and you have to continually run gauntlets, conserving your resources, until you finally break through strong enough to take on the Anvil.

Hm, I don't mind the long dungeon crawls. Would've been fun if there were some puzzles though, not just run around killing stuff.
I agree. Even the RPG-part of the game gets dwarved by the incessant amount of hacking.

The Deep Roads were fine, except for the Dead Trenches. It really should have been broken into two maps. It was so irritating getting 3/4ths of the way through, realizing my inventory was full, then walking all the way back to the entrance, back to Orzammar to sell loot, and then walking back again.

maybe its just me, but the some of the dungeons are just way too long. like finding the ashes of andraste, or the tunnels in orzammar. i spent roughly 5 hours on each of them. I was wrecked by the end of it, it was so boring. im more used to the dungeon sized of say, Kotor or mass effect.
Yeah see I wish they were longer. I also sort of wish there were optional dungeons like in BG and BG2. Oh well.

By the time I started to play with my second character, dungeons actually seemed a little shorter.

I'm gonna guess you haven't played the original Baldur's Gate? As good and innovative a game as it was at the time, I hated the fact that it would take about an hour to clear each of the outdoor maps. And you had to do this because each map had a few hidden easter eggs. Pixel hunting at its worst!

Besides, there's nothing compelling you to carry on and kill more people and fill up your inventory (Except at the Mage Tower...), you can take a break to go back and sell things.
