Garrus would be a close second though - Great writing, great voice acting and an overall awesome character. Every time I select him for a mission I go into a "terminator" mode, get goosebumps and then I die before I realize I can't run and gun on insanity...

While I agree that Mordin is absolutely one of my favorite video game (or in general) characters of all times, I have to say that Garrus is the character I've grown closest to.  The bond that him and Shepard have is the ultimate bromance,  and the dialog with him in the second game made me care as much about him as my LI (I was Talimanced, can't resist her).  He just feels like the bud you can always count on, no matter what, and would got through Hell and back with you, even if he knew it was only you making it back.  

Mordin is a great character because of his wit, dry humor, and commentary, and the fact that he's the tragic hero.  I shed a manly tear (ok fine, a lot of manly tears) when he walked away from me and took that elevator up.  It was the most touching scene in a game I've ever encountered, even more so than the Tali/Legion scene on Rannoch, despite Tali being my LI.  But when it came to topping it all, it was having that conversation with Garrus at the top of the Citadel, where I purposly missed the bottle (who couldn't let him have that moment?), where the culmination of three games of conversation, bonding, and adventuring that cemented the idea that Garrus was the ultimate friend that you could ever have. 

So, TL:DR, Garrus is the ultimate bro, regardless if you're FemShep or BroShep.  And the best character ever.

The person I quoted said fictional work, not video game. I already said my favorite video game character ever is Dante from Devil May Cry.

Unless you're saying he's just so awesome he's in a class of his own. In which case, sure, why not.

No, Garrus is nowhere close to being the greatest videogame character ever. There are hundreds that have come before him that are more iconic, and memorable. That's not to say Garrus isn't awesome, in fact I think he's the best character in the ME series.

On a different note, the actor who does Garrus' voice is in an AT&T commercial thats been airing recently. He's speed dating. Ive seen the commercial a number of times, and every time I hear the guy speak I just see Garrus' face.

Garrus is definitely my favorite to play with in ME, although Mordin's probably one of the best written. Wonder what happened to his voice actor though.

Garrus = Best friend, to the end.

What makes it even better is that my AP Physics teacher sounds exactly like him. Which means I close my eyes, and Garrus is teaching me about quantum entanglement and dark energy.

He's one of my favorites, although I always liked Tali and Mordin a bit more. ME3 really established him ahead of Wrex, though (probably because Wrex had minimal character development past ME1).

Anyone forgetting about Joker? He's way up on my list, but still beaten by a lot of ME- characters.
I've also noticed that people ITT mostly mention ME- characters, which really proves that BW has the best writers in the business.
