I've seen numerous polls about "People's favourite Mass Effect Character" And Garrus is always on top and by a huge margin too.

He's the best friend everybody wishes they had.

Yes, Garrus is my favourite videogame character ever. His moments during ME3 confirmed this. Knocked Fall-From-Grace from Planescape:Torment off the top spot, which I never thought would happen.

The best videogame character? One of them, but I don't think he's the best.

This trilogy has some of the best characters in gaming:
-Garrus
-Wrex
-Mordin
-Legion
-TIM (in ME2 at least)
-Saren

Bioware have always been able to make good stories. Not necessarily great, but very good. But their characters are second to none. It was characters like Saren that made ME1's story really good, the array of characters in ME2 that elevated it from a great game to one of the most critically acclaimed games ever and its the character moments in ME3 - Mordin's sacrifice, Thane's death, Liara planning for future civilizations - that really make the game.

Garrus would be a close second though - Great writing, great voice acting and an overall awesome character. Every time I select him for a mission I go into a "terminator" mode, get goosebumps and then I die before I realize I can't run and gun on insanity...

For me it be joker  I just love the way he tries to crack a joke even on sucidal missions. or how he makes fun of Jack. Also he doesnt trust anyone who gets paid more than him Words to live by 

Mordin would be my second his death scence was awesome . Then it would be a toss up for Garrus  or tali

I think he's close. The skull in Planescape Torment is probably better, but for overall character progression and "personality" he's pretty solid. Towards the end he genuinely felt like an old friend of your character, which took me a little by surprise.

He's definitely up there! But it's really hard for me to rank my characters preferences so I won't, especially since they changed so much between games.
Other games/game trilogies can't match ME's character development from the games I have seen!.
