A toon is a character.  Nothing more.

Banned for getting the credits, no. Banned for using credits that are ill gotten, yes. It's been stated by BioWare multiple times.

"I has convo from people that know nothing" is NOT legitimate source information. Stop spreading that around.

Where is it official?? Post it so people can see as nobody else can find it!

?? was hard to find really CAUSE IT'S JUST THE FIRST THREAD IN THIS SECTION. took me a while.

and yes you willa rgue now that exploiding bugs or "modding" the game isn't cheating. well i consider >>spending<< 1billion credits which where (accidentily or not) earned via cheats as cheating as well.

Sorry, but cheating in this game requires one of two things: Using the glitch that pretty much requires the use of friends and is intended.

Or, modding your coalesced.bin.

Personally, the glitch is BW's fault and could be fixed. So, I don't consider that a cheat. It's just players taking advantage of the system that's in place.

The only real cheat is the c.bin modding in multiplayer. And since that's pretty much the work of a single player, then that player is the only one cheating. Those that innocently benefit from the cheater's work are not cheaters. Whether they report it or not, benefit from it or not, use the credits or not is a moral position that is unique to every person and neither right or wrong considering that the context is just as singular.

Sure, it seems unfair to everyone else who doesn't get (un)lucky enough to reap the credits, but it doesn't affect the gameplay either.

The only people deserving of ban's or wrist slaps are EA/BW and the person doing the actual hack, IMO.

abusing bugs is forbidden in ANY online game. just because ea/bioware aren't perfect, doesn't mean you can abuse every mistake they make. world doesn't work that way. so stop defending cheating.

seems like lot of the people here defending never actually played any online games before. every game has it's bugs and abusing them is forbidden everywhere. the only thing that differs from game to game is if and how hard they punish you if they find out about it. but well that's jsut the same as in real life. you could murder 2432354 people and don't get punished for it, if you could manage to not get caught.

Banning people for getting extra creds is ridiculous. I haven't gotten extra creds myself but what hell do I care if people do? Don't ban people for taking advantage of your mistake, especially when it doesn't affect anyone in a negative way, ban yourselves for making the mistake in the first place.

That's my two cents on the matter anyway.

i didn't compare their moral value or their real life punishment or something did i? they are both illegal (one in the real world, one in the virtual world) and can be punished. that's all. the only think i said was, that you could do both until you get caught.

and again @ post above: so basically you say ea/bioware needs to be perfect and you have the right to abuse every loopwhole you can find? =D

I have and do play many online games. None that I know of ban people for exploiting bugs (cept Evil Arts of course). The devs facepalm themselves for making the mistake in the first place then fix it so no one can continue to exploit it. Banning people for exploiting a bug is completely absurd.

Don't act stupid...it's common knowledge that most game companies will ban you for abusing bugs, because it is cheating. Screaming for proof of this is like screaming for proof the world is round and asking someone to take you up in a space shuttle to see it..

i just logged into multiplayer and decided to spend all my credits on premium packs (under 1 mil). I take a look at my credit and it reads over 1 billion . needless to say i bought a crapload of premium spectre packs :P

my question is this, what are the chances i keep everything i got? (tbh i only enjoy the infiltrator class and even though Black widow X owns the charts, its so much easier to use than a normal widow that there is no longer a challenge)

for those who are wondering about the odds, it took 1078 premium spectre packs to get the following:

BW X
Javelin VI (had javelin 1)
wraith X
paladin X
scorpian X
saber IX

i never promoted any of toons, and they were all sitting above 10 with engineer, infiltrator and sentinal at 20, so my N7 rating didnt jump much.

Im sharing this partly because it was so amusing to see, and i also think everyone is curious how long it would actually take to get these weapons.

why would u post this shoudl of taken it to the grave with u

Lol what. People exploiting bugs doesn't affect anyone in a negative way?

How about everyone exploits a bug and gets Black Widow X. I'm an honest player and eventually gets banned from every game for using normal weapons. In games I'm not banned in I can't do anything because everyone else destroys the enemies within a second.

And you're saying an infinite credit bug wouldn't affect the game? Watch when someone figures out how to reproduce it and make it searchable on Google and let's see what happens.

Well this thread has turned pointless, also thanks to those who have emailed the cheating mailing list.

Thread Locked.
