Just replayed through that sequence, I can definitely see that it doesn't work for all characters. The ‘renegade’ option isn't too bad, but not quite right either.

OK, I think I've got a mostly complete set of notes for the entire game, although obviously from a limited perspective (mainly paragon, liara/tali). Now if only had some time to type these up.

Too much to hope anyone else has gathered some? :)

Popping in here to say simply that I FULLY endorse more dialogue options. Shep's personality was FAR to linear for me. Since when the hell was I buddy with Udina?

Heh, yes, the Udina scenes were a little weird at the start. Plus he was smiling and stuff too.

I support more dialogue options, ME3 feels much less like an RPG with all the auto dialogue.

I want to be really clear here: if there's a question to Shepard and the dialogue wheel pops up with just a single option instead of autodialoguing it, I'd love it. I just want to click on it. I mean it's better if there are actually multiple options, but even that's not necessary. I'm completely, 100%, serious.

I'd hate this, myself. It's even worse than autodialogue.

Carry on.

They need to know it was a horrible design choice, it obviously won't be "patched" into Mass Effect 3, but if this is the future of their games then count me out.

Mass Effect 2 was perfect in regards to the dialogue wheel. (I'd include Mass Effect but some of the neutral and renegade dialogue options were the same as each other, but only in minor conversations)

BioWare, bring the bloody dialogue wheel back, ffs.

Highly support this thread!
Great suggestions btw OP, it's the little things like these which would go a long way in improving the game - I hope a dlc will be released in the future.

Yes, I agree. ME2's balance was very good. I don't think any other PC-voiced system comes close. Except ME…

This thread doesn't deserve to be all the way back considering the work the OP put into it. More dialogue wheel, plox.

I agree! :)

I actually haven't bothered typing up all the remaining ones I've scribbled while playing, not sure there's enough interest, and the actual use is as remote a possibility as it was in the start.

Ah, yes, forgot to write example cases for additional options:

Personally, I felt that many of Shepard's statements in ME3 were too Earth-centric. For me – and many others – it's out of character for Shepard to be so gung ho about Earth rather than the entire galactic community. For others it's completely in character, and that's perfectly fine.

I couldn't agree more with this statement.  It is especially noticeable if your Shepard is not from Earth (i.e. Spacer or Colonist origin).  Yes, he or she would be deeply affected by the Reaper attack on Earth, but not in the same way that an Earthborn Shepard would.  The current dialogue options do not reflect this whatsoever.

I don't know if it's even that clear-cut. Some spacers might take it much harder than earthborns. It's just how the player wants the character to go…so, opening up inclusive options would be the best.

The main reason why I cannot bear to play more than maybe a single mission in one sitting with this game is because Shepard has been taken away from me. Every time I instigate a conversation, some shmuck comes along and chooses how to act for me. This more than anything else means that this game has no place in the Mass Effect franchise.

So yeah, the conversation system needs to be fixed and properly padded out, or I'm out.

EDIT: Adding an example of a scene where some extra dialogue options could help. In the Aria missions to create the Terminus fleet, there are a few lore inconsistencies, the foremost being the Vorcha running the Blood Pack and no mention of Vido Santiago in the Blue Suns segment. A dialogue option that maybe had the Vorcha/Batarian explain that the Krogan have all gone back to Tuchanka and left the gang to the goblins or one to say that Vido was killed/something to leave this guy to take over would involve a line from a small/possibly in-house VA rather than having to get the big expensive names like Carrie-Anne Moss to do it would be fairly simple.

^ That's a good addition, although definitely Shepard's the main target here. Quite a few of us unfortunately felt a little disconnected from the ours-theirs Shepard hybrid. Maybe Synthesis isn't so great after all? ;)

Agreed. We need our individuality!

As for suggestion, I was kind of approaching it from the angle of giving Shepard the chance to press for more details rather than just blind acceptance of anything put in front of him. So yeah, more wheel options for Shepard with the explanation as a result.

That's a good point. There're plenty of situations where an Investigate wheel would be necessary

And a small bump here. Y'all want to see this finished?
