I'm hoping this is just a case of "standard dialogue" that makes no sense; speaking to Martriach Aethyta she called me "a boyfriend who used to work for Cerberus".
.... except I've never romanced Liara.
Imported ME2 save with no ME carryon, so I'm labelled as "Romanced no-one in Mass Effect", and "Romanced Tali is ME2". Good, romanced Tali makes sense. So why the heck am I getting romance-sounding dialogue from Liara's father? I'm paragon with her but I sure as heck didn't romance her at any point...
Please tell me this is just Aethyta's dialogue being screwed and I'm not somehow swapped into a romance with "Little Wing" against my will.

Suspension of disbelief, just pretend that she thinks you're Liara's boyfriend, could be a mistake like anyone in real life can think someone specific could be someone else's boyfriend.

It happens regardless of who you romance or whether your shep is male or female. If you play female, she will say girlfriend instead.

If you didn't start a romance with Liara in ME£ (and that's pretty esplicit so you would know) it's definitely a bug.

Yup. I noticed that too. The other one is on the Rachni mission if you DIDN'T spare the queen.
I was watching my brother play it and he killed her in the first game but didn't remember if he had because it was years ago that he did it and he didn't read the thing at the start. As a result we heard Wrex's lines on the Normandy when he gives you the quest and it sounds like he killed her then when you're on the shuttle with Garrus he says that you spared her.
It's either a bug or a mistake, because the game KNOWS you didn't do X but it says you did it anyway.

Interestingly enough, I imported my ME3 game that was an import of a ME2 game and Atheya didn't say boyfriend, she just said friend. I guess that it's sort of a fix.

I started my ME journey in 2, in which Liara is a total cold *censored* to you. When I played ME(1) I saw her as she's meant to be, but I still prefer Tali. I actually had to be exceedingly precise in my ME playthrough to romance NO-ONE at all so my ME to ME3 total adventure would be pure Tali
But, yes, I do hope this is just a case of her opinion and not the game fitting to what it THINKS my relationship status is... you're a good friend Liara, and that's all. Please, stay away!

Slightly romantic dialoge is all over the game. If you pay attention to the conversation with ashley/ kaiden on mars, they both use heavy romantic inflections regardless of history. Its just lazy writing / recording.

This sound like a bug.
The phrase with "boyfriend" is voiceover file separated from start of her response, clearly should be used only if Liara romance flag is on.
