It's been one month since the fans banded together to Retake Mass Effect 3, and we're all growing tired. We've pointed fingers, shouted and screamed, donated and baked, and we still don't know if our efforts will bear fruit.

But for a moment let's step back and be proud at what we've done. We've done exactly what Shepard did in Mass Effect: we came together to tackle a threat too big for any one of us to face alone. We should be proud of what we've done. So feel pride my friends, for somewhere in the universe our actions now will be remembered!

So here I ask you not to share your feelings on the ending, there are plenty of other forums for that. But here, share with us your thoughts on the movement, and how you feel about being a part of it. Think back to when you first finished the game and stared at the screen thinking 'that's it?' and think to how you felt when you first heard of and joined the movement. Share with us a conversation you had with a friend, or a joke we may not have heard. The forum is open, my friends.

Hold the Line.

I think we did a great job just saying again what the OP had said, we came a long way and we are seeing results

I agree, but I don't think it's over quite yet. Even if we fail to get Bioware to change the ending if the Extended Cut fails to deliver, I think the movement will continue in some other form. This movement has changed things, and we'll be seeing the results of our actions for a long time to come.

I'm glad we're actually getting Bioware to listen (to some degree...) but at this point I'm just tired of it all. I simply want everything to be fixed so I can go back to enjoying ME.

From the get go I was excited because it gave us, the consumers, hope that we might be able to retaliate against poor business practices. It gave us the hope that we might retake some of our previous power when "the customer was always right."

Too long has our influence on the products we consume been passive. Too long have we been forced to deal with crappy customer service reps, shoddy products at exorbitant prices, and nickel-and-dime business models. This movement gave me hope that we might be able to find a way to regain a modicum of control over our entertainment.

More than anything seeing such a diverse group of consumers rally around a cause like this has been inspiring. Defiance in the face of incompetence in a unified movement that actually tried to stay civil while bringing together people from all over the world, from all along the political and economic spectrum, and of all sorts of religious, cultural, and moral belief systems has been awe inspiring.

That's what has stuck with me since this whole thing began.

Exactly. We've been at it for a month and it's wearing us down, but Mass Effect is worth the struggle. I can't enjoy the trilogy again knowing that hope, the greatest theme of the series, is gone. So we will fight, we will sacrifice, and we will find a way! Stay strong, we're all in this together! Keelah Se'lai.

It looks a partial victory now but we'll know for sure once full details of the DLC are out.

Until then still holding the line.

This is just like in Mass Effect 3, bringing everyone together to do the impossible. We're not just playing it anymore, we're LIVING it! This will be remembered, even if we fail to find the ending Mass Effect deserves. So we will stand together, united under one banner. This isn't just about an ending, it's about a story that has become our own. It's about the consumer being treated with respect.

Times are dark now, but the night is always darkest before the dawn. This event is an inspiration, and I for one am honored to be a part of it.

I will stand with you all, and together we will Hold The Line!

As the OP said, we should be (and I am) very proud of this struggle, no matter how it ends.

"We don't need to win. We just MUST fight.".

Even if we fail to bring change to the ending, this event will be remembered. It will grow into something greater. We will not stand this kind of treatment in the future so long as we stand together. Keep holding the line, my friend. I'll be right there beside you,

The Retake movement may have achieved much more than they think, the gaming industry is looking at this to gauge reactions and outcomes, this has gone beyond Mass Effect and EA/Bioware as evidenced in news stories and blogs
Deviantart, The future of story telling has arrived

So if you are feeling worn out, I suggest taking a rest, theres more to come.

I got too angry to consider myself part of the movement. I surrendered my tag. for the freedom to be uncivil and say what I felt.

And then as Child's play closed I found my own peace by donated a stupid amount of money towards the final top up.

Now I'm just here for the popcorn. Still. I think I've done my part. and I'm happy to cheer you on.

(waves her pom poms) Hold. The. Line.! RAH ( get's thrown in the air for some aerial gymnastics.)

You're absolutely right, the impact of this event goes beyond simply changing the ending. And thank you for the article, I'll be reading it when I get the chance. I'm glad that our efforts are bearing fruit that we all can taste.

Thank you for sharing your story. Also, I strangely now want to see a cheerleading squad dressed in femshep cosplay chanting HOLD! THE! LINE!

The game made me feel like a villian and in response I donated over $100 dollars to charity. It feels wholesome. Who knew a sh**ty ending would help with personal development?

I remember when I beat ME3 for my first and only time, I went rushing to the forums trying to figure out if I did something wrong, or if NG+ had a better ending. Then I saw the Retake group and was relieved to see that the fans had formed a civil, organized, unified voice. Without Retake I don't think we would have been taken as seriously and I don't think we would even see the Extended Cut, which was not exactly what Retake was fighting for but it is better than nothing. Not to mention the 80k raised for Child's Play was amazing to see.

A lot of good seems to be coming out of something bad. This won't be for nothing, and we've only just begun to see what weight our actions have carried.

It was similar with me. I sat in my room for a good hour after I finished the game just two days after getting it, and I just sat there, wondering if that was really it. Finally I sat down and finished my essay for school which I'd put off in favor of finishing the game and went to bed. The next day I did more research and found the retake movement. I can honestly say I'm proud to have been a part of it.

You did good guys, you did good.

We can do some truly amazing things when we come together. Let's not forget this, it's truly been an experience so far, and one that I hope continues much longer than this.

Yeah, at least we can say we tried to stop the gaming industry from turning into what it will if we fail. That is, a mire-pool of unfinished games with day-one DLC, major bugs on release and terrible endings. Let's also not forget that if we fail, developers won't listen to their fanbase at all either.

No joke, by the way, that's one of the main reasons we're fighting, this is a much greater scale than people seem to think, if developers realise that so many people will just sit there and take all the garbage they throw at them, then they'll keep doing it, that's why we're still going, because if we don't nip this in the bud, then it'll get out of control and soon every games developer will follow in EAware's footsteps. simply because they can and they won't lose any profit.

The Retake movement is great.  Everyone was civil and constructive, and together with magnamity of the BSN mods, tried to self-moderate and keep things in perspective.  If BW is still looking for more feedback, they need not look futher than the monster 800++ pages comment and feedback thread and some very well categorized threads such as this one:

http://social.biowar...5/index/9851623

The only problem I can see is that the personal objectives of the Retake movement are not all the same.  Some wanted a complete change to the ending, some only sought clarification to the confused ending.  When the extended ending DLC was announced, a schism formed in the movement because the latter believed they got what they wanted and the mission was accomplished.  Individual retakers started their own threads with their own objectives, rows started, trolls jumped in and now we are somewhat fissured.  It hurts us bad, it makes us look bad.
