I think Khar’Shan got the worst of it. It was the first to be attacked and the reapers hit the planet hard (-> the hordes of Cannibals we see in the game)

Palaven was under siege for a long time and it was the site of sustained fighting. There was heavy orbital bombardment (huge portions of the planet are on fire) and the krogan also used nukes on Palaven, iirc.

I don't think Thessia suffered from as much damage as Palaven or Khar'Shan (it falls near the end of the war). But it seems that a large number of civilians just surrendered to the reapers.

The Reapers had more of a harvesting approach to Earth (less orbital bombardment?), but it has the largest reaper presence. According to the codex, they kill approximately 1.86 million humans per day.

Irune and Dekuuna must have been hit very hard as well.

What do you think?

The Batarians got hit pretty bad.
We actually saved 300,000 of them from a slow death and cruelty

Our squad appears to believe Thessia was the worst for some reason. Everyone rushes to comfort Liara without appearing to give two ****s over Palavan or Earth.

The Batarian homeworld got Reap'd so hard I can pretty much count the amount of normal Batarians left in the game on my fingers.... I don't feel too sorry for them though since for the entirety of Mass Effect 2 they were douchebags to me :P

Well, Liara said on several occasions how sorry she is for Earth. But you're right, nobody cared for Palaven

Well out of your squadmates, Thessia was the only planet that was really lost. I remember that councilor talking about how she had to go make plans for continuity of species.

There was actually good news from Rannoch and Tuchunka. Palaven has the largest military, a lot of fighting took place on the moon, and then they had Korgan come in on the ground. They weren't ravaged at the rate Thessia was since the people people were basically starved into surrender and overran.

But as for which planet had it worst, the Batarians I would say. The were wiped out before they even had a chance to even mount a defense.

Because Thessia fell on their watch.

By that point they had already defeated two Reapers, one on Tuchanka by summoning Kalros the other on Rannoch with the combined firepower of the Migrant Fleet.

So they had let the success get to their heads.

I think Thessia was only considered lost the same way Earth was. Earth fell in the first part of the game. Everything after that was just insurgency (which happened on asari worlds as well). But it takes a long time to systematically harvest an entire planet (the codex says something about 10 years). That's why I think the sustained fighting and the heavy orbital bombardment on Palaven are worse.

Not Sur'kesh. The Dalatross thinks we're all fools of the highest caliber. We do the fighting and the dying and Sur'kesh is untouched by the end of the story.

We were all played.

-Batarians got smacked down out of the gate, the Hegemony is finished and their political situation is such that Balak basically speaks for every batarian.
-Thessia is lost, after the batarians the asari were hit the worst.
-Then I guess Earth, followed by Palaven, Tuchanka and Sur' Kesh; though Sur' Kesh doesn't seem to be feeling the invasion quite yet.
