Wrex was my favourite character in ME1 (he was only beaten for favourite character in the whole series by a tied Jack/Liara), and Grunt was an amazing character in ME2.

It felt like a shame that we didn't get them even as temporary squad mates in ME3 - I always took Wrex on any mission in ME1 (firstly because he is a boss in combat, secondly because he typically had something funny to say), and Grunt was very often in my squad in ME2 (same reason).

I felt like for characters that belonged to a supposedly violent and "dumb" race, they were actually really well fleshed-out and you could get to know them very deeply and see that they weren't your typical "RAH! KILL!" Krogans.

I would LOVE the see Grunt as a DLC squadmate (you could just get Wreav or The Shaman to lead Aralakh Company instead), and if it was possible, for Wrex to even just fight alongside you once for old time's sake. I got so excited about the fact Wrex was going to be back in ME3 in a supposedly bigger role than in ME2, but it still felt like he didn't get as much time as he deserves given how important he is to one of the main plot arcs of the whole series.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Seeing how Wrex gets killed by just 2 pistol shots (if you betray him), why would you want him as a squadmate?

And Grunt gets killed by a single bullet in ME2 if you make the wrong choice and put him as leader of one of the teams. It's a cutscene FFS. You can also shoot Wrex once and kill him in ME1 when on Virmire. It's for dramatic impact.

They kick major ass in combat though. Running in all guns blazing like the badass Krogan MF's that they are.

I'd love to have grunt back. I don't see why he doesn't join us. I can see why Wrex doesn't. He's got stuff to do. I seriously thought I'd get Grunt after the scout mission. It's not even explained. He's just a war asset. Why can't he come back with me?

From a designer/writer point of view, both characters have too much exposition to be burdened on new players. Also, Urdnot Bakara as a story representative for Krogan race works very well so you don't need Wrex/Grunt.

The only part I'm really miffed about is how Wrex is so weak, the galaxy's most powerful battlemaster dies in 1-2 rifle/pistol shots.

If you're talking about the confrontation on the Citadel, it's definately the fall that kills him, he yells as he falls out the window. I'm not sure if we're shown how far down the fall is, but it wouldn't be a short fall

I wanted to hear more out of Wreav as the clan leader, some insight as to why his viewpoints are so traditional when his brother Wrex was the opposite. I'm not sure whether or not BW realized how interesting a character they actually made with him.

He was mortally wounded after two pistol shots.
