I'm playing with Sten in my party for the first time, and I was wondering what specilization to give him when he eventually hits level fourteen. My main is a Champion, so I'm not sure there's any point doubling up on that. I've heard he makes a good Reaver - anyone got any thoughts?
(I have all the warrior specilizations unlocked, so that's not an issue.)
Good Specilization for Sten?

Reaver isn't too good. I recently learned (and experienced) that champion auras stack, so it IS a good option. Templar is another good choice. Not that berserker's bad but IMO it's less useful than champion and templar.

Champion aura's don't stack as far as i know? I tried it with myself and Loghain, you both give out the aura's but you're only effected from the bonus' of one. I didn't do any extensive work into it, so i could be wrong but from simple observation they weren't stacking.

Make him a templar to compliment your warrior. Can use cleanse area to remove crushing prison cast on you or another nasty magic effect. Also mental resist boost is good passive and holy smite is a nice AE stun+dmg.

Yeah, templar is really useful. Holy Smite is an underrated ability IMO. It's very useful both against mages and crowds.

Thanks for the advice - on balance, I think I'll go with templar. I certainly enjoyed Holy Smite when I had Alistair in the party

Templar or Berserker. Templar is really useful because holy smite giving the group an interupt/stun for archers to allow your mage to CC is invaluable.

If you already have a champion I'd recommend Berserker.

Champion Rally stack? I'd find that very odd. Can we get any kind of confirmation, aside from the word of Loc?

They don't stack. You can have two on at once, but they wont give you double the bonus, just two areas of effect.

Well, I'm playing PC version, 1.0. I use a 4 warrior party and they are all champions. Rally does stack. It adds +10 defense for each aura, so +40 Defense total. I can see my defense change each time I activate Rally per character.
With Motivate, you get +40 attack too.

Gotta check this out myself.

Champion Rally/Motivate does indeed stack. It's a bit buggy when it is first applied, but if you make sure that it's properly re-applied to everyone in the radius when testing (run away from the "other" rally radius and then run back into it) it does indeed stack.
4 Warriors, with all of them being champions, would get an astonishing +40 Defense/Attack each. Would many other combinations, such as those with mages involved, work better? Surely. But it's still awesome.

I just double checked and got some very odd results. This is on Xbox 360 by the way.
So for this test I have in my party my player character (a warrior with Rally), Oghren (also with Rally) and Leliana.
My PC has 116 attack, 87 defense.
Oghren has 91 attack, 60 defense.
Leliana has102 attack, 95 defense.
Here's what happens:
PC uses Rally.
PC's attack goes up to 126 and defense goes up to 97.
Leliana's attack goes up to 112, defense goes up to 105.
Oghren's attack goes up to 101, defense goes up to 70.
So far so good.
Now Oghren uses Rally.
PC's attack goes up to 136 and defense goes up to 107.
Leliana's attack goes up to 122, defense goes up to 115.
Oghren's attack stays at 101, defense stays at 70.
Notice something wrong there? Oghren doesn't get a second round of bonuses.
If I do it the other way round my PC doesn't get a second round of bonuses either.
So I know see how I came to the conclusion they don't stack. Oghren got Rally after my PC, I used it, looked at his stats and saw they hadn't changed, never used it again.
So yes, strange results. seems you have to move the characters out of Rally range and then back again to get both bonuses to apply to everybody properly.
I'll certainly have to think about the way I structure some of my groups now.

EvilDeity, as I said, it's a bit buggy. Just walk away from your group and back into it again. It'll re-apply the two auras on both characters, stacking them.
