I've been researching forums for days, and I'd really love to find the answer.

So, a while ago one of Bioware writers mentioned on these forums that there are two routes to get a dinner with Kelly: a friend route("I'd catch you" choice in her dialogue) and a "flirty" route("I'd embrace you" choice). I would like to have dinner with her via friends route, but it doesn't work for me, unfortunately. And, yes, I gave her nice answers whenever possible, and got  "nice" dialogue options - for example, the "Where's my hug?" dialogue option after the Collector ship, though I didn't take this option. So... no dinner. I finished the game, but I'm kind of disappointed, because I'd really like to have my fish back in ME3(when I start playing it)... er, I meant, I'd really love to see Kelly again. Yes. That's what I meant. So... do you know what my Shepard has to do, without any flirting whatsoever? Is there a guide somewhere, maybe? Because Mass Effect Wikia doesn't even mention that you can get a dinner with Kelly without flirting with her, alas.

I thought that you had to flirt with her to get the dinner?

Keep in mind, having dinner with her doesn't really qualify as a romance arc, and you can't get the paramour achievement with Kelly. You can get the dinner, save your fish, and keep it 'just friends' from that point on without cheating on another love interest. No one's making you call her up for a lapdance.

I'm not comfortable flirting with her, or hugging her. I'm okay with being friends, though.

On my current femshep play through, I've been flirting with Kelly like crazy so she'll feed my fish. Despite the fact that I have every intention of continuing the ME1 relationship with Liara. Just started lair of the shadow broker, and should know shortly if EDI and or Tim rat me out (damn peeping toms).

Will repost shortly with Liara's action's. Playing insanity mode pre collector ship, so might be a bit. I suspect that dinner with Kelly, was just dinner. Little different then when mess Sargent Gardner tries to jam some food in your mouth from his fecal speckelled hands.

And we're good. Liara did not ask me about Kelly, squad members, staff or anyone. Time to quit flirting with Kelly cold turkey, and instil a work ethic in that chatty-kathy. She could certainly due with some degree of professionalism, why is she telling me about her patients anyways? She's surely in violation of several confidentiality agreements / laws.

Should be a renegade option to force her to take care of your pets, when you ask her 'what do you do here?'.  Would have loved it if Shepard could say; 'A VI can manage my inbox.  You can feed my hamster and fish and pretend your contributing to the team, instead of rummaging through my mail like a control freak of a girlfriend'.

I don't like the fact that Kelly or Traynor or Miranda (implied by Oriana) look up my mails. I can do that. EDI can do that,
I only flirted with Kelly for the sake of my fish because I forget to feed them sometimes
