Mike Gamble tried to earlier, and he got trolled out of the thread. Maybe when more people act civil they'll spend some more time on these boards.

They need our support right now. People need to stop harassing them, be positive, and stop hammering the same points over and over.

This isn't just some forum where they are annoynomous. This is their jobs, and their lives.

Sure, but it would still calm MOST people down. Those people there to nitpick everything to hell and back have been here and will always be here, you just didn't notice them as much cause more people took up arms in the same fashion to protest. I didn't make threads proposing different endings or showing statistics on ME2 to prove points about Retake's importance before ME3 either. BSN would just go back to it's usual level of whining.

Bioware did say a lot of things that weren't true, none of which could hold up in court though. They lied, sure, but that's about as much as you can prove.

Agreed.  I dislike the ending just as much as the next person, but I also dislike it when a simple protest becomes a venomous free-for-all. Here was an opportunity to have a decent Q&A session with an ME dev, and he was set upon by a lynch mob.

I remember hearing a saying once - "You don't ask, you don't get.  You don't ask nicely, you get even less".  Is it really so hard just to keep our cool and discuss the situation properly, rather than just troll all the time? It does sometimes tend to get results.

You complain but don't disprove his comments.  Bioware did misrepresent the game.  The OP originally asked why the developers never talk to us.  It's a simple answer, because they don't want to.  Why does anyone actually believe that Bioware cares what you think.  People are under the delusion that EA/Bioware makes games as art to please their army of fans.  Well guess what, they don't, they do it to make money, period.   If they feel that thier money is threatened they will react with lies and falsehoods to bring the drone fans back in line.  Otherwise, you are nothing to them except an irritant.

Dragon Age 2 had it. Mass Effect 2 had it.

DA2 was the ending controversy except over the whole game, both times bioware dropped the ball. I don't recall ME2 being this bad, even if it was bad, and DA:O and ME were definitely not like that.

I think it's unfair Gamble leaves a thread with a good number of hopeful people due to one guy posting a picture, sure it's unfair for Gamble to be mocked in the first place but the problem is within that post, we ARE anonymous. In fact a lot of these people don't even have me3 registered and signed up in March. Some came to genuinely protest, others to troll. 
It's only normal to expect Bioware to know how to handle a forum, a place where anyone and everyone can say what they want behind a mask, imo. Without their contribution this is nothing more than a fan forum with pinned announcements from the moderator.

There's already a rule in place where those that post personal attacks on staff will be banned so even if someone starts insulting developers when they post, that troll can be easily banned. So the excuses that trolls and insults will destroy any meaningful discussion are now null and irrelevant.

They talk to us all the time. A helluva lot more than most devs do, anyway. They aren't at our beck and call, nor should we expect them to be. The fact that they still speak with us at all after the hatred that spewed forth about the endings is amazing all by itself.

Except closure was never the issue... it was doing as they promised and illegally mis-advertised that was what we wanted. Because you know, that's what they promised AFTER it went gold.

I think the devs are people like anyone else and have stepped back to avoid taking some of the more vicious comments to heart. Everyone who works in the industry is probably prepared to deal with criticism, but there's only so much vitrol a person can withstand before they either become defensive or withdraw entirely.

Whether the fan reaction is justified or not is a matter of opinion, but regardless, it's not something that I think can be debated in such a hostile environment. The devs may be willing to talk at length about issues, but fans should try to meet them halfway, at least - that is if they are really interested in discussing issues. Most of what I've read has been people talking about how they feel and what they think they deserve, mixed with a lot of assumptions on the character of Bioware, EA and specific devs.

I personally think a great deal of what is said relies on circular reasoning, argument from assumption and a self-sustaining disconnect of logic, but that's outside the scope of this topic. If fans want devs to talk to them about issues - as opposed to just reading them - they have to employ better methods than drowning them in abuse, however justified they think it may be. The devs are still people and the sooner everyone stops laying siege to the ivory tower fans themselves placed them in, the sooner they'll be able to come down and maybe have a reasonable discussion.

But then again, synergy doesn't seem like the ending fans want for anything.

Right, "I don't need to provide proof, you're stupid" is certainly a valid argument. I've been here since the beginning and have yet to see one person provide proof as to how the retakers' claims that the devs lied is false. Unless you have proof that they're wrong, how about staying quiet since you cannot make a proper argument without evidence to support your claim.

And since when did that logic ever stop retakers from being idiots here?
