Aside from any of this Chobot nonsese; the notion that there was some sort of face modeling budget that prevented a full Tali reveal seems unlikely to me. I just assumed they decided against a full Quarian reveal but decided to include a little fan service for what their telemetry no doubt shows is the small percentage of players who would even have a chance at seeing it.

Of course, if this was the thinking it was a poor idea, since those fans are the ones that are going to care the most, and everyone else is on the internet whether they have a Tali romance character or not.

In the "Final Hours" eBook they talk about it.  They were of two minds.  They didn't want to ruin the mystery of the Quarians, but they wanted to give back to the people who wanted and needed to see her face.  They decided not to put her in the game engine.  I can understand that and it was a good compromise to both sides, I just think it was very poorly executed.

What, the explanation at PAX didn't satisfy you? >:)

Shepard and Samara for example, have real people as basis for their head models, so...the 5 min photoshop job is also of a real person! see?! same thing!!! -_-

I googled Jessica Chobot after I got ME 3.

Judging by her pictures, I think she blew some of the members of Bioware. Or slept with someone important. Or someones.

Or probably for a high rating from IGN.

Most likely, however? Some people think she's hot. A lot of her pictures online are suggestive and revealing. Fan service.

Famous for seductively licking a psp.

I do not find her attractive, and her in game model isn't either.

Some of those... rival the creepiest of Tali fans.

That is incredible.

Okay, next time I see a picture of a woman giving a work colleague a lapdance, sitting pantsless on a toilet and seductively licking objects, I will not jokingly talk about what kind of person she is.

What a first.

Whine whine whine. Someone on the internet didn't like my joke.

The level of maturity here is astounding.

I never said I was mature.

However, I'm not the one being upset that a sexist comment I made was not accepted happily by someone in my forum peer group. That was you. You don't want to get picked out on something, don't say it. If you do say it, be prepared to get picked out for it.

Simple as that.

I wasn't talking about just you.

And I'm not sure why you're reading things that I am not saying. But, hey, you can continue. This thread is becoming a good time waster.

You quoted me. I assumed you were talking about me. You'll have to be more clear next time.

So this is what I've seen:

You: Made an off color joke.
Me: Pointed out.
Others: Pointed out.
You: Attempt to support self. Post pictures of what you feel should warrent sexist language. Mention you are not the only one to say this. Still not getting the response you want.
You: Attempt to mock those calling you out. Discredit them. Still not getting the response you want.
You: Now acting sullen. Pulling back. Mentioning how emotionally not invested you are.

Sorry, mate, it looks bad. Hopefully next time more people will be on your side on this and it'll be my sort on the defensive.

I posted pictures that show the reasoning behind the "joke" and support why I said she was in game because of fan-service.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

Knowing someone to get a job is different than blowing someone to get a job.

It's just disheartening that females are automatically judged on their looks, but to be fair it's not just males that do this, which is even more disheartening.

Honestly:  My assumption is that they were going to do a full face reveal for tali, but it took to long to get a concept approved and the writers and artists went back and forth on how she should look.....and eventually when they finally got together and went online to find a base image to do a mockup of it was too late to allocate anymore resources because it was time to polish existing art.
Instead, they just took that 15 minute mockup and shoved it into the game somewhere.  That's defiantely speculation on top of what we know happend...but it's how I figure it went down.

Maybe you're right.  I have no idea how resources are allocated for Bioware, and maybe I was presenting a false choice.  But I can only express my dissatisfaction with the result, and what it looks like to me.

And what it looks like to me is that putting a woman with no voice-acting experience (but connected to IGN) in the game, was a bigger priority than putting effort into revealing the face of a core character of the series.

Letting you know how I saw the conversation.

You want to make an off color joke, stick up to it or don't make it. I saw the joke as something produced from a very ugly part  of our culture. You can get defensive about me pointing it out, but that's perfectly fine.

I actually think that getting Tali's picture as a way of showing her face was nice way of doing that. Sweet moment IMHO.

The picture itself is another debate.

You know, the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words"... and the pictures say enough. :|

I actually got grief from guys complaining about  Chobot being in ME3, lol. It's just that Chobot being in ME3 is saying *to me* that you have to be a hot looking chick to work in a game industry and licking video game consoles to get a voice role in a big game title.

So, what the hell, Bioware?

I didnt mind her being in the game, it was weird but I was just like: "meh, one more war asset? yes please". Then I found out about Tali's face reveal.

Now im not a Tali fan, but with all the mask removing and only seeing the back of her head, it made me really curious to see her. If she was my LI I would be pissed. As it is I was just disserpointed.

Yes, it is different.  But lets not act like what he is asserting doesn't happen in the entertainment industry and even in the business world.   And in case you wonder, there exists a male casting couch too.  When someone gets a position they are so ENTIRELY unprepared for, it makes you wonder.  If you don't know she has friends at Bioware, then what are you left with for how she gets a foreground roll in the game?  Not a lot.

Kind of like the first time I heard a Kei$ha song, saw the build up and hype and videos then looked at all the talented singers who can't even get a listen and thought ... how the hell does that happen?
