Yes, it is sexist. Implying that a professional woman only got to her position because she slept with someone is always sexist.

Now you know. And knowing is half the battle!

That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen.

So you're telling me even if there's ample evidence to back up such an accusation it is by default sexist? Sorry, no.

The kind of thing happens in the reverse too. It's not as obvious but attractive men get positions in work when interviewed by or working with women who fancy them, and some men realise it's happening and egg it.

There's nothing sexist about calling people out on it. All you're doing is basically stating that they got to where they are based upon foul play.

Aside from the endings, there are plenty of things to nitpick about the game, but one issue in particular really seems to show what direction Bioware is going to continue to take as a developer.  It's absolutely infuriating to me (even as I take a step back and remind myself how dumb it is to be so pissed off about a video game).

Somewhere along the line, for some reason I cannot comprehend, Bioware made the decision to spend their face-modeling money on Diana Allers, rather than giving Tali (a core character in the series) the face reveal she deserved.

I had no idea who Jessica Chobot was before Mass Effect 3.  If the intent of her cameo was to make me a fan of hers, it actually had the opposite effect.  I'm now forever going to associate her name with the failings of ME3.

Is she really that popular, that Bioware thought putting her in the game would boost sales?  Was putting Chobot in the game such a draw, that it was worth it to relegate Tali to a stock photoshop, and kill off Emily Wong on Twitter?

As a design decision, it feels so dysfunctional and out of touch with what fans expect.  The thing is, I don't see how having Chobot/Allers in the game was beneficial to EA/Bioware in any way.  Whoever forces these stupid marketing gimmicks on Bioware at the cost of game integrity needs to be fired, because they don't even work.

I don't like it either I had no idea who she was before Mass Effect 3 and now I could still care less. Although I will say when I first saw Diana Allers I thought they gave Snooki a cameo. One nice thing though I always skips through her dialog aside for one when she makes a move on Shepard. I love turning her down I laugh every time.

Because some single guy can sit in front of a computer and model some dream-skank?
Because they thought teenage boys would happily ****** to her image?

IDK. I didn't even know she was a real person until a few days ago - I just thought she was another space skank like Kelly Chambers, except more revolting in appearance.  I wish Emily Wong or Al-Jilani was on my ship - that would have been fun.

Jessica Chobot isn't what I'd call a dream-skank? She is a fairly knowledgible videogame journalist. She's good at what she does and she just so happens to be pretty too. But acting just isn't her strong suit. She is okay in that role but she's better off doing her thing with the daily news updates on IGN.

However I don't think there is anything wrong with someone branching out. Avoid having to do the same thing for the entirety of ones life is a luxury that most people wished they had. My issue is that she's on IGN which reviews video games. Of course this was going to lead to favourable reviews.

Space skank? Are you saying this because she flirts with Comander Shepard? I call that unprofessional.
Dianna Allers does look a bit strange too. But I wouldn't describe her as ugly.

The reason Bioware chose her was favourble reviews from IGN and to increase sales of the games (Chobot has lots of fans).

This is not a fanboy defence of Chobot. I find her attractive but I don't really care about her because I don't know her.

Space skanks are there for their ****** (or ridiculous lycra space) and nothing else. She and Kelly Chambers added nothing to either game. I can check my own Email, and I can read my own journal. Also, I can fangirl over Garrus without her help kthx.

Chobot adds nothing to the game and isn't known to half the ME fanbase. NONE of my friends knew who the hell she was. To us, she was just some random hamster-face (and yes, even I can acknowledge that she isn't that fug IRL) in an ridiculous "dress" that turned up one day pissing off a member of my crew.  As far as we knew, she was just some tramp who'd painted on an Alliance badge over her stripper's outfit, crawled out of 90210 and decided to play journo for a day.

They put her in for T&A - there were TWO professional, well established journalists  from ME1 and ME2 that would have been more appropriate AND more interesting - not just because they actually have character, but because they had a pre-existing relationship (good or bad) with Shepard.

And yes, I am aware they killed one off. On Twitter. Which I don't use. So I only found THAT out last week too.  How convenient that there's a space for a Shepard-friendly journalist now!

And yeah, after Googling her I rolled my eyes - she's a typical "gamer grrl". Seen enough of those, thanks.  Glad she could use her assets to get a job she wanted - if men are weak and dumb enough to fall for that in the 21st century, whatever. I don't hate her, or blame *her* for being in the game - I blame the idiots who decided she'd be JUST GREAT11!!1 simply because they fancied her. She was utterly pointless.

I hope extended cut DLC can fix this mess somehow. All we know so far is that it provides more clarity as to what the heck happened at the end, but can they fix tali's poker face? ...i dunno. But I certainly hope for the best, it's just a crime to leave such a great character like that without a face to identify with.

Lol what?

So it's misogynistic to dislike a woman for getting somewhere purely for flaunting herself rather than through hard-work and integrity?

Wow.

This, I am a woman and I agree with this.

Sure, it'smisogynistic to assume women to be inferior, seen as sex objects and the only way women achieve success to sleep with men. But when someone has so many "sexually
suggestive" photos on the net, that woman is pretty much feeding the misogyny and it ends up a cycle and someone's bound to point that out.

You want to flaunt your beauty? Go ahead, just don't flaunt it in a "sexually suggestive" way and expect nobody will talk dirty to you or won't respect you as a equal and not a sl*t.

Agreed. And I'm a woman as well.

This is actually a really good question we keep hearing "time" and "resources" as reasons for certain exclusions or lackluster features. But then we have things like this, and multiplayer. It makes no sense.

Because we've been talking about Olivia Munn being in game instead of Chobot for a few pages now.

But you're only up my ass, aren't you?

Try a different technique.

Excuse me? A different technique? And just what the hell are you trying to say, you annoying, whiney ****?

Like that?

A little softer? More rage? Or more trolling?

More love? More hatred?

This is getting pretty stale, but I guess I could always use an admirer on every forum I go to.

Will you follow me into a new thread, as well? Cry some more when I make an "off-color" joke? Flabbergast me some more?

Not many people get me so...flustered.

No...this needs a "shy" face like from Vindictus.

Uh huh. Keep trying.

Remember, you're the one that made the comment first. Mocking me doesn't change it.

Only you think I'm trying to change or deflect something.

Well, I did tell you how I thought that conversation played out. You never corrected me, so I assume I'm correct.

You got called out on something. It made you uncomfortable. You've tried to wriggle out of that discomfort.

Doesn't change the fact that you started off with a sexist joke. Now you look like you're just ... I dunno. Trying to save face? To avoid seeing that you said something problematic (and that the problem is me, not you)?

Correct? What? Who cares about being correct? Well..you do, obviously. For some reason.

I know what I said, I said it for a reason. It blew my mind that you cried so hard, and still are. And why are you still dragging it on? For like 7 pages. Your posts to me are just pointless provoking, trolling. You want me to say that you're correct about something? About what?

Okay, you're right and correct. You are right about everything, the whole universe. My little opinionated joke thing was wrong and you're right and so much better than I am.

I don't care. I don't care that you didn't like it. What I do care about? I never leave a conversation or argument until both sides agree that it is finished or you just up and leave.

This pointless back and forth was fun for a while, but now? Geez, you're annoying.

No, I can't say stupid, you have some semblance of intelligence. I can't come up with a word to describe it.

If we're having a conversation, I want to be correct about what's going on. I told you how I saw the conversation. You never corrected. So I assumed I was already reading it correctly.

You made a sexist joke. You got called out for it. You're upset. Keep being upset. I don't mind. Keep mocking me. Keep insulting me. Keep pointing to others who did the same thing. Keep pretending you don't care.

This post is contradictory within itself.

On the one hand you're saying how you saw it and on the other you're making an absolute statement "You made a sexist joke."

Either you're saying it was sexist or you're saying you interpreted it as being sexist.

Anyway, there's nothing innately sexist about his statement. The same statement would work the same way for saying that some young, attractive man got into a position because he bedded a middle-aged woman, which also happens in office politics as well. There's no gender attached to it.

At most you could argue he's calling Chobots integrity into question but there's nothing sexist about it at all.

The interpretation comment is regarding something else.

The original statement was sexist.

If two people apply to work in a Chinese Restaurant, one is of Chinese descent and one is Caucasian, and the Chinese person gets the job, if someone says they got the job because they were Chinese that is not racist.

If, however, they start terrorizing them or insulting them because they're Chinese then that is racist.

If someone goes and starts slagging off Chobot because she's a woman, that is sexist.

If someone slags Chobot off because they think the woman lacks integrity and self respect, that is not sexist, even if it pertains to sexuality.

Not every negative comment that may or may not take into account gender or sexuality is by default sexist.

You're mixing up the meaning of the words sexual and sexist, and I suggest you get that chip off your shoulder asap.

The statement probably goes a little too far but having said that I can't really say Chobot is undeserving of such criticism: if you portray yourself as a **** don't be surprised when people think you are one.

Beyond that Diana Allers plays virtually no role at all in the story. She is a 2nd rate LI with hardly any dialog, character depth, or anything intresting to say. I did an entire playthough with her on the ship and there was never any meaningful interactions, or even party banter with her.

They need to add a cutscene or option to throw her out the airlock.

I might sound jaded but how can you justify putting time into a character like that over one like tali?
