I just told her no when she asked to come on the Normandy. Case closed.
The arguement that the resources they spent on making her in the game
could have been spent on Tali's face reveal but I honestly don't think that
it would have happened.

So... just tell her no, she doesnt come back.

They have to blame something or someone.

1) She's ugly
2) Older fans are mad they had her be the reporter and not Emily Wong(then they killed Wong over Twitter)
3) Her VA works for IGN, IGN threw the first stone in the Retake Movement vs Video Game Media

Add those 3 things up, and you have hate.

She's an utterly pointless character who exists entirely because Bioware wanted a good review from IGN.

She didn't bother me, but I see most everyone dislikes her a whole hell of a lot. So I just leave it be.

I think the hatred comes from the fact that BioWare wasted any programming time at all on Diana Allers. She is so tacked on, meaningless, and horribly acted that players have to wonder just what the motives were to include such a character in the game. In my opinion, they put Chobot in the game to get some kind of rapport with game reviewers. She works at IGN and is married to Blair Herter, a big role player at G4's X-Play. Conspiracy theory? Maybe. But what else could explain her inclusion? It sure as hell wasn't to advance the story or to introduce an intriguing new character.

I don't like her because she took valuable screen time that could have gone to Jack! not to mention, she looks funny.

I think some of the hate is the fact that they spent more time rendering Allers than Photoshopping Tali's portrait.

Because with her and Vega it looks like the tried to ripe off Jersey Shore. That and I would have preferred Emily Wong as my reporter. Think the biggest issue with her is there is no interacting with her other then her comments with Taylnor and her stupid "Do we have a problem Commander" every other line, down in her hole.

Because they got rid of Emily Wong.

More effort was put into her character rather than Tali, who has been there since the beginning.

I don't think the model is ugly, but I agree with the other two.

Diana Allers is not a great character. I don't hate her. I do wish they hadn't spent resources pandering to a major gaming website(that incidentally gave their game a great review and initially was very vehement in attacking the Retakers) when other parts of the game could obviously have used more attention. I don't think the argument is "Diana Allers is the reason Tali's face is photoshopped" but the fact that they were so lazy with a major moment for an established character but took the time to include Jessica Chobot in Mass Effect is kind of jarring. If they absolutely had to have a journalist onboard the Normandy(or not if you said no) why not Emily Wong? We know her, and we haven't seen her since the first game. Also yeah, she is fairly hideous ingame.

This.  It should have been Emily Wong.  A character that was already more established in the universe that filled the exact same role is Allers.  It is so obvious that Allers was just a business move; no artistic integrity whatsoever.

That "She's ugly" is your first point distresses me.

I don't like the character because I wonder what the resources they used on the character could have been used for if the character hadn't be there. I also don't have much fondness for IGN at the moment. I also like having little things to pinpoint my irritation towards.

Completely rendering in a brand new character(Badly, Looks bloated. Like a taller Snooki) and taking time to do voice over work(Very poorly), including Both Shepards VO work to respond... does not  equal time wasted, resources wasted for something better?

It makes me question the bias attitude and how fast IGN was to speak out against any criticisim. (You know, journalistic integrity and all)

Your option is to just not let her join. So everything is solved by denying a portion of the game that they took time and resources to add in? Then they shouldn't have added her in anyways

I don't know why they chose to include Allers, but some of the fan "backlash" has gotten ridiculously out of hand. But I think it comes from the resources possibly spent on her inclusion as opposed to other missed opportunities or addressing some of the short-cuts they took during development.

Still doesn't excuse some of the behavior I have seen from people though.

I don't like her because something about her voice acting gives me the creeps.

For me personally its these things plus IGN is apparently all about "artistic integrity" but apparenlty have no "journalistic integrity".

Oh and i know this is totally not her fault or bioware's but the fact she got a full body modeling kinda makes me more unhappy about tali's photoshop.

If she wasn't voiced and face modeled by a known person, I doubt people would have had all that much of a problem with her. There might have been a few complaints about no Emily Wong, but I doubt there'd be much "hate".

Even the voice acting isn't, to me, notably bad. Maybe not up to the generally high standards of Bioware VO, but there's nothing that makes me wince.

I have nothing particularily bad to say about her voice acting and her looks. I think the model is aweful, but so was Miranda's, if you have seen Yvonne Strahovski on screen.
BUT making Al-Jalani pointless, kill off Wong per twitter and not make the effort of giving Tali a decent face.... well, I hate her.

Well, she is poorly acted because while Jessica Chobot is perfectly suited to demonstrate Kinect Games and lick controllers or whatever her claim to fame is, she's not accustomed to voice-over work.

The digitalization of her face was even more disastrous than that of Yvonne Strahovski, making her look like a cut Chipmunk Mutant character from a 90s cartoon. A chipmunk mutant in a dress straight out of Jersey Shore.

She feels a bit tacked-on. I mean, she makes a show about "war and stuff" with an intergalactic viewership, yet she's never been around to so as much as even request an interview with Commander Shepard. And now, suddenly, she wants to be an embedded reporter on your ship. But what really makes her feel tacked on is that it's all so underplayed. Her entire appearance, barring the "romance" or whatever you want to call it, is limited to two minute-long interviews in which Shepard paces menacingly in front of the camera and talks angrily about, well, war and stuff. When they said she wanted to be embedded I thought maybe you'd get to piece together footage of your exploits and decide if you wanted it cut to be heroic propaganda, to demonstrate the grisly realities of war, or even just edit as little as possible - all with different results somehow.

And I think, someone, somewhere, should have stopped for a second and shouted "potential conflict of interest!" when Bioware gave someone working for a site supposed to review a Bioware product a part in said product. It's actually terrifying that the specialized gaming press is so oblivious to the public image of them as corporate shills that they just went ahead with this anyway. It certainly lends credibility to shill image.

I don't hate her, but I would have preferred to have Emily Wong back, I really didn't see the need to spend time/resources putting her into the game.

*She feels pointless (or should have been Emily Wong or Khalisa)

*Her VA is attrocious, I'm sure she tried her best but it is simply cringeworthy.

*Blatantly referring to IGN is also, cringeworthy.

The thing is, if she wasn't voiced and modelled by a known person, it quite possibly would be Emily Wong. I don't hate Allers but I have to admit there are a lot of things I'd prefer they had spent their time making.
