I think the hatred comes from the fact that BioWare wasted any programming time at all on Diana Allers. She is so tacked on, meaningless, and horribly acted that players have to wonder just what the motives were to include such a character in the game. In my opinion, they put Chobot in the game to get some kind of rapport with game reviewers. She works at IGN and is married to Blair Herter, a big role player at G4's X-Play. Conspiracy theory? Maybe. But what else could explain her inclusion? It sure as hell wasn't to advance the story or to introduce an intriguing new character.

Agreed.

She has a frequently-reused female model that is more or less the standard for ME3, which even (female) Shepard gets to have. Try putting on Femshep's casual outfit.

I hate her mainly because Bioware had the nerve to try and charge me $10 for Javik because apparently they "ran out of time" to put him in the main game......That Diane Allers took priority over a prothean squad member speaks volumes for the game.

They either think she is more important, or (just maybe) they took Javik out so that they could charge for him! ....I honestly wasn't too bothered about the day 1 dlc until I saw the guff they had included in the game over it!

I'm indifferent to her, and whilst I agree with most of the points against her (having Emily Wong onboard would've been great) she was just another forgettable small war asset to me. Without her would we have got something else that we really missed? Possibly, but I could nitpick all sorts of things with the same argument.

if they were going to do a gag character on the ship, I would've preferred Blasto.

I actually feel bad for Jessica Chobot. Bioware called, and said, "Hey, would you like to be in ME3?"  Well goodness, who WOULDN'T say okay? So she personally doesn't deserve a lot of the thoughtlessly cruel criticism. But the Diana Allers character was just a bad, bad idea, for resources, story, and dev time put into the character. A cutesy notion that somebody came up with, and yes, a pretty cynical PR calculation for the IGN connection. Could have all been done so much better with Emily Wong. Too much that was rushed. Ah, Bioware, before 2007, it was all so much different for you...

All that said, Jessica Chobot doesn't deserve any of the personal attacks. At least we can assume that she's wisely avoided these and any other ME3 forums.

1. Unecessary character.
2. Unattractive facial modeling.
3. Unprofessional and inappropriate wardrobe.
4. Horriffic voice acting.
5. Shameless pandering by Bioware to IGN. (yet in the next breath they'll claim "artistic integrity.")

Anything else I can clear up for you?

I have nothing against Jessica Chobot, I did not know who she was till playing Mass Effect 3. I know the OPs will disagree with me but I know that that doing a digital representation of her did not come cheap. Those resources could been put to better use within the game's fiction. Not just in Tali's face (which I actually thought looked nice) but in extra dialogue/VO with your squad or maybe add a minor squad member into the party with limited dialgoue such as Zaeed/Grunt/etc. Not everyone follows the gaming press, I personally don't and I know they are many others like me. It's true that she does not deserve critcism that she is getting but I have to question Bioware/EA for wasting resources that could have been used for something else within the game.

She played in ME3, IGN took it's bribe, and ME3 got 9.5 over 10.

Looks a deal to me.

1) She's ugly
2) Older fans are mad they had her be the reporter and not Emily Wong(then they killed Wong over Twitter)
3) Her VA works for IGN, IGN threw the first stone in the Retake Movement vs Video Game Media

Add those 3 things up, and you have hate.

I don't want to say she's ugly but when I did see her originally I thought they had casted snookie. That's not a good thing to me if you have to use jersey shore type characters even Vega at least had a brain Shepard was his idol he was fun to talk to even if his conversations were a bit rushed and bland. She had those puffy cheeks I couldnt' look past but that's just opinion.

I agree i'm a little upset this girl no one heard of and still don't care about would get more time and effort than Tali a character I personaly loved and whom was my favorite character. Think about it would you rather have Chobot exist or see another drunk tali scene without her mask.

I don't hate her honestly in mass effect 3 she was comparable to dust that Shepard could just brush off his shoulder. If you didn't like her you said no if for whatever reason (say you're going full on paragon) you said yes she goes on the ship and you talk to her like 3 times. Then you never see her again hell I assumed she just died somewhere on Earth.

I just feel she was a useless problem to an already large list of nitpicking for the game. And personally i'm a little insulted by her being in the game.

I only say that because to actually put her in a game is to assume that gamers are just fanboys who will fall over head first to any girl who will lick a psp. I remind you this is on a network and a show that most people hate and this woman is a writer for a website no one takes seriously.

Honestly taking her reviews or opinions seriously is like listening to game informer for all your game buying advice.

But that's just my opinion. I just thought she was a creepy snookie clone I'm still not 100% sure who she is or where she even came from.

I keep hearing she's actually been insulting fans of the game calling them whiney and other names to degrade us. But I didn't care enough about her to look into it much futher. But if she did do it I say eye for an eye you poke the internet it will rage quit the life outta you. I'll probably forget about her completely by the time I've healed enough to play through the ME series again.

WHAT?

Dude, her face looks like it's melting. Ironic, because Chobot (as much as I dislike her) doesn't look like that at all.

I can understand thinking her body is attractive but her face wasn't transferred well into game.

Look at some of the forum posts that make direct comments as to how she performed sexual favors, etc (comments made in a graphically descriptive fashion) to get the job, among other personal statements defaming her personally....in a similar sitiation I may be inclined to be upset and make some retalitory remarks as well.

The Hate is more that she is a complete and utter waste of resources on Biowares part.
The stock image of Tali from gettyimages.

They wasted time and resources on Diana Allers when they could of used it on Tali and replaced the worthless junk Diana Allers with a character we actually like Emily Wong.
And kill Diana Allers off via Twitter.

Unnecessary character that took resources away from other things
Bad design
Does **** all
Terrible VA
The most blatant attempt and nerdbait I've seen in awhile
And let's not even get into the conflict of interest that comes along with putting the one of the most well known personalities from one of the biggest game review sites in your game.

What's to like? Honestly, I think most people can agree Emily Wong would have been a much better choice. She's known by longtime fans, has a good VA, isn't atrocious, no conflict of interest, she isn't modeled after anyone so there's no wasted resources with that, she finally gets that interview, and she isn't killed on twitter.

Regardless of the Chobot thing - they killed off Emily Wong? When did that happen, I totally missed it.

Awww man, she was a cool character.

Without getting into insults about Jessica Chobot, I think it was a mistake on Biowares part. This is, of course, with the help of Captain Hindsight. But due to the fan outrage about the endings, and then the counter video made by the idiotic Colin Moriarty at IGN (who reviewed the game), it looks bad on Bioware.

I would guess they did it as a kind nod to the fans who frequent IGN and, if the endings didn't suck, or if IGN had not acted the way they did, then maybe it wouldn't have been such an issue. Though three still would have been complaints I think.

Also, the ME series has become more and more about sex appeal, unfortunately (I mean, just look at what Jack wore in ME2. I mean, come on! How could she get away with wearing that whilst running along the outside of The Shadow Brokers ship???), and this is a case where Bioware has thrown something else that way hoping to hook into the young make demographic.
