Since i never give a  **** what IGN has to say, i didn't knew who chabbot was.
So for me it was more like: Why do i need a reporter on my ship?
A show called Battle ships? really? That sounds lame.
Plus this is the first time in all three games i hated the voice of a character.

Didn't really "hate" the character, I just thought the voice actress was (mostly) terrible.

Meh, all the Allers hate is overblown - just like all the hate around here. She didnt make ME3 any better, but not any worse either. She's just there. Her voice acting aint the greatest, but I dont think anyone would have noticed either way if we didnt know she was Chobot beforehand.

I don't hate Diana Allers, and actually found her role a nice addition to the whole war thing. Having a reporter on-board didn't made Shepard's war effort entirely secular.

She did make it worse. Every resource wasted on her was not used for something else.

I never really disliked nor liked Diana Allers. She seemed utterly and completely pointless. In the end she just became a war asset farm, who I didn't really care about at all.

I think the reaction to her is a bit overblown. Allers isn't a good character, but it's not like she ruins the game like the Catalyst. Her ties to IGN probably do more damage to people's perception of her than her actual character. If she wasn't voiced by/made in the likeness of Jessica Chobot, people would just kinda frown at her and move on.

Bad VO, and i bet she's actually a replacement for Emily Wong, who was missing from ME3. That is enough reason to hate her. She stole the role of a potentially great character.

Stealing spotlight from other characters. Hell the time spent recording her voice and modeling her should've been used for another character like Tali's face or more dialogue for the other ME2 squadmates, hell i would've settled for another quick talk with harbinger.

Well, that's different. It's when someone engages in ****-shaming that's the problem. Using it for yourself or with people you know who don't mind the word is fine.

Well I didn't get ill per say I just became uhm... way too "funny" and ahem loving and thus I'm not allowed to have tequila again... EVER...  No matter, you can probably only fake "out" yourself once in a town this size.

She's a completely pointless character who isn't relevant to the plot at all nor are her war assets worth the trouble (5? That's it?). Not to mention the voice acting is just awful.

Just to repeat the OP: Tell her no when she asks to come aboard and save yourself the embarrassment.

The arguement that the resources they spent on making her in the game
could have been spent on Tali's face reveal but I honestly don't think that
it would have happened.

So... just tell her no, she doesnt come back.

I don't have a problem with the in-game character. But Chobot, with all due respect, SUCKS at voice acting, she sounded very unnatural. But that's just my opinion. 

Remember, she got famous by licking a PSP.

I don't really dislike Allers. I do dislike Chobot. I don't know her personally, but she just comes off wrong to me. When ever she is talking video games, two things annoy me: she doesn't really seem to understand the material she's covering (seems she's posing as a gamer) and she almost seems to talk down to her audience... That's just me though.

First playthrough, I said no. Second, I said yes, then jumped on the option that's says GTFO.

That's the brunt of it, I think.

She didn't make ME3 any better.

And her inclusion means resources, no matter how minor, were potentially shifted off of other things. 

It was like weird fanservice except instead of someone like Tricia Helfer or Adam Baldwin, whom you'd expect most Mass Effect/Sci-fi fans to recognize and like, we got someone who is... famous because she licked a PSP or something?

Chobot and her character was not included in the game based on merit. She's just a billboard for IGN fans and anyone who knows/likes her. The fact that she practically replaced already established characters and their VAs just rubs me the wrong way. It also pisses me off that they're touting their artistic integrity and vision when they're willing to photoshop stock images and use their limited time and resource on an in-game advert. That's just wrong.

Poor voice acting, poor character modelling, seemed like a pointless side character with far to much time dedicated to her.

I dont *hate* allers or Jessica chobot as some seem to, but having a games journalist get a fairly large part in your game and then her site giving out one of biowares much touted "75 perfect scores" as well as the site acting like douches to the retake movement left a bad taste in my mouth.

Speaking of bad tastes in the mouth....................No I will not make a joke regarding casting, no matter how much I want to .

I don't hate the character. I actually feel they used the woman. That's what upsets me more. I can see the reason for having a reporter on board. It's the association with IGN. I can see hiring someone with not much VA experience for this kind of part because it wasn't a big part. It's how people get started.

People are again assuming that this is a way for Bioware to "buy" a great review.

Which is exactly the problem around here - groundless accusations.

If you had done your homework, you would know that Chobot is a MASSIVE Mass Effect fan, and had a petition to get her name in the game. Ray the doctor, was appearantly a fan of her (she is quite known around the gaming community) and said they could do better.

There is nothing sinister about her beeing included. But all this hate around her have probably made Bioware realise its best to let proffesionals do the VA in a game - and ultimately, I think thats a good lesson.

If it hadn't been Chobot, the character wouldn't exist.
Really, this is just like everything else in the game that is out of place.
I believe that could be why for there is alot of angst amongst the fans
about this character.  Yes, the writers should've put one of the established
reporters on the Normandy in place of Allers and maybe that was the
original plan.  Could something have forced their hand in this (EA)?
Still, my reason for disliking her charater are pretty basic.  She's in Zaeed's
room!  If Zaeed knew about that, he would've shot her in the back of the leg,
thrown her in the trash compactor and then jettisoned her out with the rest
of the space garbage!
