Am I the only one who's bugged by the fact every races are represented by one model, height and weight? I'd love some variation. I would find it hilarious if I role played a fat mage or a pretty tall rogue elf or something. I guess that's just me, but it would add a bunch of funny elements in the scenes.

I could see that being an option. SWTOR has a sort of quick approach to allowing this.

But think of why you don't want it this way... They'd have to devote resources to making armor capable of being on all the different types of bodies you could come across then. This would take quite a bit to do this. I'd much prefer to have a larger variation of armor to choose from, or just more content in general.

Dunno, in White Knight Chronicles games, you have a lot of armours options and they all rescale with your avatar's weight and height. But I get your point.

Hmm.....It might be an engine issue in what its capable of. The one in WKC might be able to rescale armors while Bioware's might simply just be able to fit to certain models. No idea myself in this area.

Are they using the same engine, anyway? Or is it a new one...?

^ Very likely that they will use the same engine and just tweak it. It takes alot of time and resources to remake the engine all over again.

I'd rather have one body type and lots of different armor options.

This idea seems like it would cut into that. Whenever resources are poured into one thing, it means less resources available for another. You had body sliders in Skyrim and I felt there wasn't really a lot of options in regards to armor. I have no idea if the two are related, but they very well could be.

I do not believe that adjusting height is an option due to the possibility of it greatly complicating the cinematic dialogue cutscenes. Providing a player with such a choice might result in some very awkward interactions with characters, especially if/when the cinematic team decides to experiment with the camera angles during the conversations.

Brings back memories of my elf Warden spontaneously growing 6 inches to tower over Morrigan during them thar kissin' scenes.

At least Leliana had an animation where she would kneel down to kiss my Dwarf Commoner. (And lest you ask, that was not a euphemism! NOT A EUPHAMISM!)

Exactly. With the introduction of height and weight sliders in the character creator, the probability of more complicated NPC interactions becoming disturbing/hilarious increases exponentially. :)

That would be a nightmare for animators and modelers.

Exactly why I think this would be hilarious. Possibly not in a good way.

In a perfect world every playable character would have a unique model and animations, even for idling or walking. I'm okay with cookie-cutter NPCs, but party members...?

Ah well. At least we finally got a female protagonist that doesn't walk like a man.

Badly executed in my opinion,  APB got it almost right.
The new soul calibur have a powerful tool of CC.
So you can make almost all body types possible.

But staying on topic context, yes I support the idea, main hero don't need to be bulky muscular super man body.
Also gives more freedom to those player that enjoy to recreate theirselves in the adventures of w/e game he enjoys.

They have cinematic dialogue cutscenes in SWTOR and it works out all right, so it's doable.

I'd really love this, personally, but at the very least, if you put the PC's mom in the game, don't have her use the same body model as FemPC, and DEFINITELY don't put her in a low-cut dress.

A weight option was in Skyrim, which I liked.  My Nord warrior looks like a tank.

Seems to work fine in SWTOR.

From what little information and rumors have leaked about this game, there is actually some hope for, and BioWare beeing part of EA likely scenario that DA 3 will use the frostbite engine.

Every character is the same size. All human males and females, all elves and all dwarves. No reason for this to happen in this day and age. Skyrim has body sliders, and hundreds of characters in a living world. So no reason DA3 can't at least do the same.

The reason we do not have this (which I would love to have) is the same reason they are moving away from allowing us to choose a starting race. The way that DA2 is set up is that they will have to make armor for each body type. That means that if they allow us to play a human then they have to make X number of male and female armor assets for the game. If they were to allow 4 body types like SWTOR then they would have to make 4X. Now if they allow Elves, dwarves and humans with the same body type modifications we are up to 12X.

While I would love the have a body slider of some kind, i would prefer to be able to choose race more, so *IF* they did decide to do one or the other, I would vote for race over body slider.

What other people have said. It would take a lot of time and effort to implement sliding weight and height options into the game, which could be spent on more substantial things. As it is, they seem to be shifting away from the race options because they don't want to extend the effort for them either.

If they put any effort at all, I would rather they go for the extra two or three default body models for dwarves, elves, and/or kossith than dozens of varying weights, heights, and customized sizes for customizable armour to fit dozens of different body types.
