"I notice that shale's weapon adds nothing for his attack stats, in terms of the base damage, armor penetration and crit.  Also, if I try to use hotfixes such as the dexterity one, it totally bugs up his armor and weapons, so that they don't even show anything besides adding the green numbers and +elemental damage."

Any fix on this?

Put the hotfix files into *\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\modules\\\\single player\\\\override instead of *\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override. The global override one bugs out and overwrites all the stat boosts of shale's crystals (including armor) to zero.

Note that if you've already installed the dex fix, first unequip shale's crystals and resave BEFORE switching the dex fix's file locations... otherwise if you don't unequip-and-resave first then when you reload Shale's base (unequipped) armor rating etc. will be in the negatives.

Even without the hotfix, there is still a problem with small crystal (weapon one).

I tried to replay and get Shale without hotfix, but the small crystals are still buggy. The descriptions are correct, but the game doesnot actually applied damage, crit, AP. It only change damage into the elemental damage. Any idea?

I removed all my unofficial mods (addins and overrides) and it didn't affect the bug (The one affecting small crystals ONLY by not adding the listed damage modifiers, not the bug that does not list any modifiers on crystals), so in my ignorance I'm guessing it's not caused by an unofficial mod, or it's corrupted something in the game files?

If I backed up the character data (I'm assuming \\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters\\X ?) would I be able to re-install the game and keep all my saved progress?

The small crystal bug is not relate to mod, reinstall will not solve it. Trust me, I already tried.

You can backup your Characters folder and retain your progress.

Interesting, well thanks for the heads up. I added the damage/crit%/AP as bonuses using the winter forge, so it's not a big deal, just a little annoying.

So, I deleted the dexterity fix after the DLC applied (via steam). I had placed it in the core/override folder originally, so the result is that Shale is stuck with the armor bug/problem but the fix has been removed. Is there any way for me to correct this?

Hmm, are we saying that even on a fresh install of DA:O, no mods, Shale has bugged weapon crystals? Can others confirm his?

I think Shale gets bugged when you first meet it, if you have the hotfix installed. If you remove the hotfix after bringing Shale into the party it won't fix Shale because its initial stats are already messed up. You have to go to Honnleath and get Shale into your party without the hotfix installed for Shale and the cyrstals to work correctly.

Kepha are you sure the crystal weapons will correctly add dmg/crit/AP to shale (ratings work, they just add nothing in the character sheet) ?

Also are 4 armor and -10% (or 0% without powerful) fatigue the correct values with no armor ?

I'm ok with armor crystals after moving the hotfix to the other directory, but I am seeing here that the weapons crystal problem is not related to any hotfix and is a general bug?

I'm curious about this too.  What are Shales vanilla base stats?  Thanks

Interesting. I removed all mods and loaded up a save game from before I went to Honleath. I got Shale and the stats were ok, armor crystal worked. I equipped shale with a weapon crystal and it had no effect on dmg, crit, ap. So....what.....weapon crystals just dont work? Or is this some permanent residual bug from using the hotfix?

By the way, when I got shale, the stats are -10% fatigue and 4 armor with no crystals on for reference.

Hello

As of today with patch 1.04, is the bug corrected at last ? Do crystal weapons add any base damage, criticals, armor penetration to Shale now? I'm not talking of the "green" bonuses that work fine.

I'm still playing with patch 1.02a, but I didn't see anything related to this bug in the patch notes of 1.03 or 1.04.

Thanks in advance.
