On my second playthrough I decided to romance both Lelianna and Morrigan. It took alot of f9s and timing conversations and gifts. At one point I had to dump Morrigan to keep Lelianna but with the right conversation and gift I got both back to 100 love and things have been going great. UNTIL I decided to take alistair on a few runs hoping to trigger his personal quest (+75 approval and still no quest for alistair). Now what does this douche bag do? Not much, completely crappy PC. The only thing he added to my group was his incessant chatter to Lelianne about how im 2 timing her and I am sleeping with Morrigan. After about his 5th conversation with Lelianne about how im sleeping with Morrigan she says, It doesnt matter, I am done with him anyway. So where is the guy code with this feminine little ****?  I can see why so many girls seem to like him, he is just like they are. Just a little girl wearing a man's armor.

PS He fights worse than any of the girls.

Dude, you shouldn't have two timed in the first place. Alistair was right in ratting you out. It's either you tell them, or he tells them. Looks like he took the initiative.

LMAO! That is too funny, maybe he thinks you are breaking the HONOR code of not being a two-timing wh*re... after all he was raised in the Chantry... don't think Ferelden has the "guy code" ...

I actually feel kinda bad for the straight girls that like the romance RP thing for games.

Lets face it they got screwed in there options they either get a whiny idiot of a fool or a ****ot elf with a bad accent and more STDs than a 2 dollar hooker.

The possibility's are endless sorry ladies.

Alistair is one of the better fighters in the game in my experience. Way better than Sten or Oghren because he actually has some defense, much better than the rogue classes. Other than Shale he is the best fighter tank option out there if you ask me.

I agree w/ Beerfish, the times when I had to leave him at the gate were rough. He is always in my party, if you set his tactics up right and give him a decent weapon he is a death-dealing machine.

That's too funny. He ratted you out?! LOL! He broke the guy code!

But as far as fighting, Alistair is a beast if you gear him up and do right by his tactics.

Well I play dwarf noble warrior so my tank is set up. Use Lelianna rogue Wynne healer and Morrigan mage. The other warriors hang out at the party camp. For some reason I cant get Alistair's personal quest to trigger so decided to drag him around a little while and see if it opened any conversation options. Alas it did not, but he still wont shut up.

i don't know, i like sten in general and he's not really feeble when you specialize him for using a shield. ^_^

Depends on how you build them. For me Oghren dies in a heartbeat in every fight while Sten stands tall far longer.

Well out of two handers i think oghren is a little better i like sten but it seems he dies more usually my party ends up me and Alistair alive and when i used oghren he lived most of the time.

You have to be friendly enough with him before you go to Redcliff village the first time for him to open up about his quest.

Yeah Alistair is a pretty useful character so long as you get him the shield talents.  If he thinks he is a bad fighter...well I am not sure what to tell him he was pretty awesome when I used him.  But then I am awesome so maybe that explains it.

That's hilarious, but as others have said, if you spec him right from the beginning and equip him correctly, he's a tanking beast.  I have him set up as a Templar/Champion in my mage run, and by stacking spell resist items, I can AOE like crazy and not worry about him at all.

I actually feel kinda bad for the straight girls that like the romance RP thing for games.

Haha, don't worry about us, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm an Alistair fangirl.  Posted Image  I think most of the ladies I've heard from love Alistair, and many have no problem with Zevran either.  They're obviously very different but I think they're both great.

For any tank you need to spend some points in constitution or they won't have enough HP's to last and your healer will fall behind, and especially with the two-hand weapon fighter because they are so slow to swing they seem to get hit more then Alistar does because of his shield training. Alistar can actually survive better with less constitution simply because of his shield defense. So yes it really depends how you build them and if you for instance get Ohgren late in the game you don't get to spend his early points so he might not turn out the way you want him. Sten however you always get near the beginning of the game so you have complete control over his leveling. Thats the difference, so now I always go get Ohgren as soon as I can that way I get to spend all his points as well.

In fact I really do wish they would have had the characters join your party and require you to level them from level 1 to where ever the PC is currently at. That way you could always get what you want....

Ah, that explains it then. I guess I will have to wait until my next play through for it. I have played Dwarf warrior commoner, now warrior noble. My next character will not be a fighter so Alistair will be much more useful I would imagine.

You seem to forget that he is this games equivalent to the paladin archetype, although relaxed and snarky one at that. For those unfamiliar with the archetype, its basically this: Stuck up warriors of law and good whose code of conduct prevents him/her from approving evil or chaotic acts.

Two-timing is a very chaotic act and thus he did the right thing by ratting you out.

My second playthrough is a female city elf, I had planned on her romancing Leliana, having a fling with Alistair and then making him marry Anora...

Imagine my surprise when he forced her to choose between them before she even got him in the sack...

Then again I suppose I'd be a little insecure in his shoes. Especially since there's no cut scene programed in for a menage a tois.

Ah well, I killed Zev this time around. That gives me a few extra gifts to try and bribe my way back into Lel's tent.

Alistair's conservative idea's of romance aside, if you max out his sword and shield talents early and put him in some decent armor he makes a fine tank. He tanked all of my first play through and, if I can convince him to both marry Anora and sleep with Morrigan he'll do the same for this one.
