He worked so hard to provide his talents to Mass Effect 3 but ended up failing so badly that he may go down as perhaps the worst voice actor in video game history surpassing even the voice acting in the original Resident Evil in it's awfulness.  Now everybody is being mean to him, especially over the part where he says "my sweet" and shredding him apart.

Please guys!  He's an old man and an American hero.  How can you say such mean things about him.  It's not his fault that he's talentless as a voice actor and that Bioware thought it would be neat to have a real astronaut provide a worthless role in a pointless post-credits epilogue scene that added absolutely nothing to the game and made him sound like a pedophile with the "my sweet" line.

People are mad at Buzz Aldrin? That's stupid. The man's like, 85.

So is Martin Sheen but he gave a great performance.  Age isn't an issue, it's just that Buzz Aldrin isn't an actor which is why he was so terrible.  Still, we shouldn't take it out on him, we should be mad at whomever thought it was a good idea to hire him as well as the writers who created such a worthless role for such a talentless actor to fullfill.

We should be supportive of Buzz Aldrin, he has been victimized by Bioware.

Hey, I've got nothing against Mr. Aldrin; he's an inspiration to us all. The person who wrote his lines, on the other hand...

I think people's problems with the Stargazer scene are more due to what they have interpreted it to mean (rightly or wrongly) for the ME universe. But the creepy child-molester vibe certainly doesn't help...

I think he's lucky they didn't coerce him into voicing Catalyst. THAT would be a looot of bad karma ;)

Harmless stargazing granpa promoting DLCs - bah, not the worst thing to worry about.

Martin Sheen's only 70, the difference between 70 and 85 is a big one imo.

I feel it was sickening to hear a old man say that to a child.
Whether or not the child will get to space or not I feel he will get sexually abused before then and have a troubled life ahead of him.

Yeah, the writing was criminal.  Hearing "my sweet" and "the Shepard" was the worst thing I have ever heard in a video game.  Even worse than Jill Sandwich.

I feel sorry for Neil Armstrong.

Buzz gets to be the model for a Toy Story character.

Buzz gets a cameo appearance on Dark of the Moon.

Buzz gets a cameo appearance in Mass Effect 3.

What does Neil get? Nuttin! :P

I think the fact that Martin Sheen has about 50  years acting exerpience and Buzz Aldrin has zero has a bigger impact in the realm of acting talent than a 15 year age gap.

Anyone who belittles or chastises Buzz Aldrin should be ashamed of themselves. Same goes for anyone that makes fun of his appearance in Dark of the Moon. The guy's a legend. His part in the game just happened to be bad. He didn't do too bad for being that old with no acting background.

Why would people be mad at him? It's one thing if an actor gives a bad performance. Aldrin isn't an actor. I can't think of any rational reason to blame him for anything, but being part of a bad scene. You might as well blame whoever voiced the kid, or the Starchild.

I thought Buzz Aldrin sounds fine. Certainly better than Allers.

I thought it was great when I recognized his voice right off. I'd say it's a trade off of having an American Icon voicing a cameo character that he's not a pro. Not his fault the writers tack that part on an ending that already wondering what they were on when they wrote it.

I had no problem with the Stargazer scene.  I thought it was pretty cool of Bioware to ask him to do that.

What better person for a "spacy" scene like that than a genuine astronaut? And a famous one at that.

I think many slam the Stargazer scene mostly because of their dislike of the main ending. If the ending had been better, I think most wouldn't have the issue with that epilogue that they do.

I feel sorry for him for getting a terrible, universe ending scene to voice. I thought his acting was pretty good to be honest, he sounded very genuine to me.

I did not know it was Buzz Aldrin until after I'd visited these forums.

And he's actually been to outer space. I don't feel sorry for him; I envy him.

You know, I'd like to say that it was nice to have Buzz Aldrin appear and that he "didn't do that bad" but I would be saying that only because I pity him for what must be a very embarrassing moment in his career, appearing in a worthless role and giving a terrible performance.

Yeah, I thought it was a nice little 'Easter egg' as it were. Didn't even know it was him until I read it on the interwebs. Considering he's a damn astronaut, not a voice over artist, I thought he did a perfectly reasonable job.

Anyone hating on his VA skills is just looking for things to hate on.

I somehow doubt Buzz Aldrin cares what people think.

I thought he was fine as the grandfather. It was a very minor role after all.
