I can honestly say that the OP has managed to capture something with his words that exactly no one was thinking about. I don't think anyone had a problem with Buzz Aldrin.

I agree.  People may have disliked the lines he was given to say, or other things out of his control, but on the whole people still seem to think walking on the moon is pretty awesome.

Buzz Aldrin once punched a man in the face for telling him that the moon landing was faked. He is awesome and shares none of the blame that Bioware can shoulder themselves.

That was an awesome moment and I even detest violence.

I have the utmost respect for what these old geezers (who could probably still knock me on my ass) did back then.
They're not perfect though and not necessarily good voice actors.

For a grandfather character he would be fine enough but offcourse the lines are not his responcibility.

Pointless hiring. Could have gotten any old geezer to do those lines.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last scene the first time I saw it. When I found out it was Buzz Aldrin, it just put a whole new dimension to what was said.

I thought he did fine and it was neat to get him to have a cameo. Complaining about him and Allers is excessive imo, its not like they're major parts of the game, if you don't like it it's no great trouble to ignore it.

I was fine with the Stargazer scene as it shows us that life some how finds a way. I will predict that scene will only be a footnote to the things Buzz Aldrin has done in his real life. I for one salute the man.

Didn't even realise it was him; I tried to block out that god awful closing scene.

Buzz was on a Simpsons episode. He is awesome to the max! As I said they just gave him terrible lines.

Counterpoint: Buzz Aldrin was a "guest host" on WWE Monday Night Raw a few years ago, and appeared intoxicated while on the show.

Wouldn't you get drunk if you were MC'ing a pro wresting event?

Unfortunately the Buzz Aldrin thing was thrown in there to cap off how groundbreaking and awesome Hudson & Walters THOUGHT they were. Unfortunately, as horribly bungled as it was, it just became more pretentiousness atop an absurdly pretentious ending.

Why does everyone feel so sorry for everyone? Maybe this was the intended effect of the ending. To make everyone feel sorry for everyone.

I feel bad a national hero got such crap lines to read. I know for a fact he isn't normally that bad at public speaking or voice acting as he did really well in Futurama.

I think that scene was one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy. If the ending didn't suck so hard, the stargazer scene would have been the perfect way to top off the series, and made me cry (manly) tears of happiness.

Edit: it was also marred by the "tell me another story about The Shepard" (BUY OUR DLC PLZ!!!!)

That is also true.

If I had been in charge, I would have hired Buzz as an elderly colonist whom you save from a Colony and you take with on the Normandy because his whole family is dead. He would reside in the lounge and reminiscing about ME's past, thus giving us more insight on Shanxi, the first colonies after the discovery of the Charon Relay etc. I would have used him as much as he was willing to do and not put him as a throwaway at the ending. He would have been the voice of the colonists who were suddenly homeless.

With things as they are he is a wasted character.

You feel sorry for Buzz Aldrin and yet you insult him also by calling him talentless. Nice...
And I did not think he did a bad job, the only sad part is that the scene is overshadowed by the ending.

Had the ending been a good ending it would probably have had a better impact. I found it a nice touch to get Buzz Aldrin to have the last word, but unfortunaly I was only feeling disapointment at that moment and I did not really care for what was being said or what happend.

Whatever he said was fine. Just having him there meant alot it was cool and nothing was wrong for how he spoke, hes not a voice actor, he was a man who has been to space, respect that.

Well, I feel a wee bit sorry for him that some writer wrote the words "my sweet" down on a piece of paper, resulting in poor Buzz Aldrin having to utter those words.

But, other than that - no. The man walked on the moon. He does not need my pity.

I strongly dislike the Stargazer scene, but it has nothing to do with Buzz Aldrin, indeed, Buzz Aldrin is the only thing that makes that scene bearable, because he's Buzz Aldrin and he's been to the moon.

I don't feel sorry for him, because frankly, who has been hating on Buzz Aldrin, if anyone has then yes, mostly because, who in the world gets mad at Buzz Aldrin for doing a cameo in a scene he didn't write, for a game he likely hasn't played? The man is 85, if your berating him for voice acting, you need to take a step away from your anger.

He only speak for like 2 minutes. I hardly hated him for it.
