I got into ME with 2 , so I knew I was gonna miss some story bits.ME 3 ending was fine with me, because I didnt get any of the comics, or DLC, or whatever  other media products   in the ME universe. For all I know ,if you have consumed all of it ,it may all perfectly come together.If you use the Wiki for ME3 ,there are a total of 13 different endings, some very cool which I won't spoil.YOU MUST note your EMS rating when you do the final mission.There are different outcomes depending on your rating. This is before you get to the 3 colors endings that are available.Yes there are some holes, but  it is so complicated , I'd have to spend a lot of cash to fill up the holes, then probably still have questions. Mebbe a bad combination  of greed and a lot of video game talent.You guys do remember how insanely fun ME has been, right?
