It's natural that a developer change things when going from one installment to another. Sometimes it's not always for the better. heres a list of some of the things I din't like in the transition from one Mass Effect game to another:

1 to 2:
  • Axed the mako
  • Removed the inventory system
  • Reloading mechanic
  • Downplayed Citadel
  • Ammo as a power instead of an upgrade
  • Global Cooldown
  • Biotics no longer affect shielded enemies
  • Leveling up incorrectly can result in one or more points i can't spend.
2 to 3:
  • The avenger rifle has a severly cut down ROF and the bullets only come out of the top barrel for some reason.
  • The new weight mechanic I have mixed feelings about; on the one hand, Revenant weilding Sentinel. On the other, I felt it ruins some of the other classes identity, now that they can ALL carry machine guns and sniper rifles.
  • Dodge rolling means my Vanguard never has to enter cover, which defanged most of the threats.
  • Cerberus went from an inept black ops cell in 1 to an Illuminati-like organization in 2, to the Empire from Star Wars in 3 with nary any exposition on why.
  • I can't holster my guns (thats petty even for me...)
  • Reapers attack you with the inception bwong instead of the low menacing hum Sovereign emitted.
  • Reaper beams act more like lasers than steams of molten metal being fired at Mach 64,000
  • Harbinger has been reduced to a cameo
  • Tech Armor has been nerfed to hell and back to the point it's mostly useless. (and it looks stupid)
  • The Mattock is no longer the hand-held autocannon it was back in 2 (though I understand nerfing it in favor of balance)

So that's my list, what's yours?

2-3

The plot at the end
The amount of autodialogues
The small squad with no Vanguard or Senintel (If you have no Kaidan)
Journal

Other than that, I found ME3 to be fine.
